its breaking my heart to say this, but yes.. they do get really predictable and repetative after a while. I can believe everyone thinks that though! Its just how the books are written. Their communication traights and constant glowering is what builds them, it tells you how the people act and if they do certain things over and over, yeah it gets annoying, but mabe thats just the way Stephenie emphasizes their actions. Actual people are very repetative, and therefore, by making the characters repetative, they become realistic. Personally, i dont know 12 different ways to express anger, so why should Bella have to?

Huh. You know what the funny thing is? I always imagined Edward as Light from Death Note. I don't know why.. xD;;

I don't read the books over and over, just right before the new ones come out and once every four or five months. I get annoyed by their bad traits, but they don't irritate me very much. Actually, my friends going on about how much they love them and how edward is their's and how they fervently hat jacob irritates me more.

Well, I guess it could be said that most of the characters deserve each other. The repetitive actions and descriptions that really make up their characterizations get to most people. Think of it, most of Edward's moods are shown through his purdy eyes that change color to show his emotions. It's like you would see in a fanfiction mary-sue.

Bella, is suuper annoying. I hate how she's just all "I HATE PARTYS" and screams whenever the subject of marriage comes up. Like seriously! Enough with the wedding hatred already! And she has all these people that care so much for her and have partys for her and want to marry her and she just like crings away from fun. AND what pisses me most of all is how she just constantly runs away to Jacob all the time. Sheesh woman, he's annoying as hell, and not very nice either. And she just seems to whine and whine all the time about how much her life sucks when Edwards away, then runs to see Jacob and just like screws him over time and time again. Do you want the man to have an anyurism?? You've made your choice, now live with it.
But Jacob. He makes me want to tear my hair out. When he was just a nice, little 15 year old, human boy he was cute and very likable. Then he turns into a wolf and becones this arrogant, abnoxious kid who doesn't respect personal space. God, theres no need to be such an idiot all the time! Just because Bella chose Edward over you doesn't mean you should go acting all victimized until she comes to see you so you can act like a jerk again. And he wears his depression on his sleeve all the time. Respect others peoples descisions! He's so judgmental too, leave the poor Cullens alone! It's not like they've actually done anything to you! If he gets killed off in book four I will have a celebration, and Bella better pick up her attitude and stop being an ungrateful twit.
And I also agree that Stephenie needs to expand her vocabulary horizons and stop making people chuckle, glower, glare, narrow their eyes or clench their jaws so much.

Argh!

What bothers me a lot is how many times his "liquid topaz/onyx eyes smothered/dazzled me as he breathed his cool/sweet breath" after a while, I kinda start hoping Edward is using his breath mints XP
And then in the third book they ALL get so hormonal, GAH D: (Well actually it's more of just Edward, Bella, and Jacob. But ya know)All Bella does is talk about sex. I seriously just never liked her, I never felt that connection. People always freak out on me like "You just like her because she has Edward and you don't!" Well, no. I know he isn't real and never will be, and secondly, she is SO ANNOYING.
So basically, I just agreed with everyone and repeated what they said in different words. biggrin

This thread made me chuckle lulz *oh noes,i just pulled off an Edward D; *
Anywayz,I've only read the series ONCE *le gasp* That's right....once (well Twilight I read 2 times ) I mean I love the series and all but yeah. I gotta agree. Some characters just became annoying. Bella in New Moon with her whining and emo-ness ticked me off to no end. Then she goes to hook up with Jacob and then DITCHES the poor guy? What kind of friend is that?
And Edward & Alice BUGGED me in Eclipse.I just wanted Alice to shut-up and wanted Edward to stop being an over-protective jerk.
I was shocked at myself to ever realize that lol xD

I think you summed up my thoughts nicely. Especially the last two sentences. Nice to see someone else think that Edward AND Alice were annoying. I would ranted more, but I'm off to the library for some good quality literature. That and I liked the size and color of your post. =D

i think the biggest factor to our being annoyed at the series is the fact that we're all obsessed with it...(well...some of us anyway...)
You see, our initial obsession made us all read the books more and more...unfortunately, when we reread the books over and over, we had time to pinpoint every detail of the book since we already knew what happened. Therefore, when we payed attention to the more specific aspects of the book, we saw each flaw in the characters...and the wording (chuckle, grimace, etc.)
so in the end...our obsession caused our dissatisfaction! ...*cough*

Obsession causes blindness to details other than "Ohmigawds, Edward I lurve you. Bella's just like meeeee!" and in turn makes the reader ignore the limited first person point of view? Huh. Never thought of it that way.
