What?
WHAT!?
The sunset stallion listened without belief, gaze guarded so as not to make a fool out of himself without knowing her full story. Was this some trick? Was he properly hearing her right? Or worse. . . . what was the catch? For just a moment, doubt tricked him in to disbelief and shock; she couldn't possible mean what she said. . . could she? He listened with incredibility as Nivriti spoke of her feelings, spoke of finding the missing piece of her heart.
Somehow, someway she was speaking truth; and this truth was perhaps the most important, most life changing, most wonderful thing he had ever heard! By the spirits, his own heart suddenly was racing as he forced his body to be still. Oh, a coltish energy suddenly gripped him, and he wanted nothing more than to laugh and soar over the plains, rejoicing in this great news.
Althalus was silent for a moment, attempting to find some sort of clarity on his words. There was a reason Nivriti was so different; she wasn't Aiolos, she wasn't Caelyndra, she wasn't Cicely - she was something wonderful, something far more beautiful and captivating. A friend, yes, but something drew him to her like none before.
Was Althalus smitten? More than words. . . .
But like Nivriti, it concerned him because they had only just met. How many mares had he met in his lifetime? How many had been nothing but a pretty face, a friendly apparition only to disappear out of his life as soon as he'd moved on? Moving on. . . that in itself hadn't been a problem but now, face to face with his golden eyed lady, there was a revelation that he didn't want to move on.
Silver eyes sparkled with delight as he took a step closer to the wind. She had spoke her peace, now it was time for his own admission. "Nivriti," he began softly, unsure where to begin. ". . . For all my silver tongued charm, you might think words would be unable to escape me. And yet now, standing here before you, I can't help but be speechless. You are a friend of mine, yes, but . . . . but when I spoke of bewitchment, I truly meant what I said. Nivriti, I've journeyed long and far from my home, wandering without a care, without worries, without restraint. But you. . . I know we've but met once before but you've struck me. . . Completely, body and soul. When we parted, you were all that I thought of, all that I wondered. When you spoke of a stallion, I felt fear and a sliver of jealousy like I've not felt before; not because you can't meet others, oh no m'lady fair; but because I feared you might look upon another and be struck the way I was. . . am . . . with you."
The sunset male took another step forward, slowly bridging the distance between them. He still feared scaring her away, but he had to give voice to his feelings. . . He couldn't and didn't dare keep them secret, especially not to her. "Nivriti, I feel I've walked half the world searching. . . but it hasn't been a journey to seek the unknown like I once thought. No, Nivriti dearest, I wandered so far to find you."
Hesitantly, ever so gently, the sunset male reached over to brush his nose against her neck. Though he'd done before previously, this time the gesture was full of affection meant only for her.

What was he thinking? What were the thoughts running through his mind? Nivriti searched his face before he spoke, trying to find some hint of what his answer was going to be.
The longer it took Althalus to answer, the more worried she got. He was going to let her down, however nicely he did it, it would still sting. Oh she would pretend it wouldn't, because she couldn't imagine not having him in her life anymore, his wit and nature made him a perfect companion. She almost jumped a little when he said her name, her heart dipping a touch, her wings still trembling as she listened..
He. Felt. The. Same. Way. Nivriti stared, her golden eyes as round as they'd ever been in her entire life, the soaring joy that she felt when on the wing filled her, but in a more intense way. 'I'm dreaming,' she whispered, and when he touched his nose to her neck it still felt like a wonderful fantasy. She edged closer, almost bumping right into him because of the nerves that were still jangling around her body. With a few gestures, she tucked her nose under Althalus's chin, her flank just brushing his as she did so. 'Am I dreaming?' she asked this time, her voice still quiet. If this was, she really didn't want to wake.

Althalus could hardly believe what had happened. ..and was happening. Though he spoke true, though he understood that the beautiful mare before him had fooled him not, the young stallion still couldn't fully understand his fate. How had he captivated Nivriti, this goddess of flight? A chance meeting, a crossing of paths had suddenly lead to this new mystery of feeling and emotion. One mare had within a day changed his entire perspective, his destiny. . . .
How?
Althalus couldn't say he ever thought of love at first sight, but already Nivriti was changing that view - and fast. Whatever this intrigue was, whatever this feeling might someday be defined as, Althalus wanted to explore. He still feared crossing a line, scaring her away, or worse. . . But here, right now, in these few moments everything was suddenly right.
As she moved to tuck her nose beneath his chin, Althalus couldn't keep the smile that highlighted his features. Silver eyes glistened with his silent joy, and he made sure to cherish every touch, every minute. Just in case. "You speak of dreams," he murmured softly, giving the young mare a little nuzzle a top her nose with his chin, "And if it is, then all I ask is to never wake again." Althalus positioned himself as close to the wind as he dared, ever careful of her wings.
For a brief moment he wished for the pinions that clung to his brother, sister and father; now would be perfect for him to wrap her in feathers, to hold her close against him for just a moment. Ah . . but he could cuddle close, he could keep her curled beneath his neck and chin and cherish her even without mighty wings. "But, m'lady fair, this is no dream. This is real, you and I. . . and for that, I'm entirely grateful. I'm here, and shall be, for as long as you'll have me."

If Althalus thought he would scare her away at all, he would be wrong. The one and only thing that might do it was if he suddenly changed into a Kalona! but that was a silly thought born out of high emotion and she had to stifle a laugh at the mere thought of it happening.
'I don't think it is,' she murmured, mimicing his movement and nuzzling his chin with her nose before shifting, moving her head and gently brushing his cheek with a velvet touch. 'I don't think it's possible for us to both be asleep and dreaming the same dream, so I'm going to decide that I am awake and that I'm the happiest I've ever known.' she echoed his own words.
At his last she let herself give a soft laugh. 'How's forever for you? Does forever work?' Maybe it was premature to even express such a sentiment, but he'd captured her heart and she wanted him to be the only one who ever would. Nivriti realised at some point they would have to move, before they became commented on by the Villagers, but she wouldnt be the one to suggest it. She just pressed against his side, hoping her feathers wouldnt tickle him.

The local villagers were the last thing on Althalus' mind. Right now, his thoughts were focused only upon the beautiful brown and cream mare that stood cuddled up against him. She had overwhelmed his thoughts, his feelings, and was every moment sinking deeper, and deeper in to his heart. Though this was no dream, Althalus could hardly imagine the reality of the situation before him. . .
But here she was, pressed against him, neck curled up against his own. The words she spoke had been true, her feelings mimicked his own. And oh how it made his heart soar. When spoke of her own happiness, her own joy, the sunset stallion couldn't help but chuckle. Every time her nose brushed against him, or her flank, his stomach seemed to flutter more and more. Chuckling deep in his throat, Althalus offered the mare another nuzzle, brushing his neck and cheeks against her own. "My lady, consider me there, forever and always if that is what you wish."
Such a sweet moment, but it wasn't about to last. Though Nivriti's chosen two-legged one wasn't around, there were others to contend with. Most left the two soquili alone, though their presence was capturing the attention of a few. Laughter and words he couldn't understand captured his attention, and the male tore his gaze off Nivriti to study a few gangly things passing through.
He didn't feel endangered by their presence, but at the same rate, he didn't exactly want to give them a show either. Their growing presence was enough to draw Althalus away - he was wild, and not one to be tamed. At least not by one of them. Silver eyes swiftly turned back upon Nivriti, and he offered a rueful grin. "We seem to be capturing the attention of others. . . Tell me, beautiful, shall we be off? Perhaps somewhere a little more private, unless of course you feel urged to return home. Just say the word, m'dear, and consider it done." he wasi n no rush, and he surely didn't want to separate from her side anytime soon. Buuut. . . he wasn't about to rush things, not yet. These still were her stomping grounds, and he would respect her wishes, whatever they might be.

Words would probably only ruin the moment, so she didn't want to verbalise her feelings right now. It was probably very obvious how Nivriti felt about Althalus, she'd spoken of how her affection for him was far more than that of just a close friend. But using the word. That word. She felt that was a little beyond her yet. She definately wanted to spend more time with the stallion and couldn't bear to think of herself parting from him yet. 'I wish it.' she merely replied, giving him a cheeky tap on his side with her wing.
She flicked her gaze to the side at his words; 'Oh, so we have,' she giggled a little, her nose colouring at the watching audience. She shook her head swiftly at his question. 'I don't want to go home, unless you do?' she tilted her head as she looked at the stallion, a little smile on her face.
'Or we can both go to your home?' she said as the idea occurred to her. He had said about his birthplace before, but now they seemed to have leapt forward and confessed their feelings for one another, it felt like the thing to do.

Well that settled it. She wished him to remain near, and so he would. It hadn't yet occurred to the stallion exactly how huge this event was - he was still running high off the idea that Nivriti saw him as something special too. Friendship was wonderful but he wanted more . . he wanted to know what made this lovely mare before him tick - all her fears, her dreams, her wishes, her wants. More than anything in the world, he wanted her to be the first thing he saw in the morning, and the last one he spoke to at night.
Oh, perhaps he was a fool for falling so swiftly - and he understood that there was a thing called lust as well as an emotion called love. He had experienced lust before, but what he felt now wasn't that. . . Not entirely. Still, Althalus was stepping on to unknown ground, a territory he had never witnessed before. He would be cautious and let time work its magic.
Glancing down at Nivriti, he chuckled as her feathers brushed against him. They were soft, lovely to the touch, but he had to admit a wee bit ticklish. He could keep a straight face now but should she ever attempt he feared he might be rendered helpless. . . Feathers, he noted, could be dangerous things.
"Oh, Nivriti, I would love for you to see my home. You could meet my parents, and my siblings if we're lucky." Althalus' silver eyes gleamed with delight, wanting more than anything for his parents to meet her. They would approve, wouldn't they? Given, Althalus had long since been gone. . . in fact, he hadn't seen his family in what felt ages. "Ah, but," he added softly, red tail flicking lightly in thought. "It is a bit of a journey, I will warn you. It's much further north and tucked within the mountains. I would hate to take you from the comfort of your home for so long much less without giving your family such notice."
Offering her another little affectionate nudge, he stepped forward, beginning to slowly break away from the village. He'd walk without destination for as long as it took; so long as she was near, he was more than content.

Nivriti wasn't even sure if her thoughts were too coherent now. She was just beyond giddy. Who could have imagined that this meeting would lead to such a happy outcome? She gave her lower lip a little chew, looking at him through her wayward mane.
'I would like that very much.' she said, nerves suddenly kicking in. What if his family didn't like her? She wouldn't want to be the cause of any family strife, so if they did take objection to her...Nivriti let out a little breath. She was just being silly, after all Althalus was charm itself, so he had obviously been raised very well. She would be positive. She nodded; 'I best drop a word in with at least my mother before we take our leave. I could go find her now and meet you somewhere?'
She didn't want to part from him, even to go find her mother, but she saw the logic of telling someone where she was going. The winged mare would hate if she caused Aishwarya or Shikoba un-necessary worry by taking off for a long time without making them aware of where she was bound. And if she went on her own, she could go by wing which would be swifter.

((I'm thinking we can call this one a wrap soon. x3 ))
Althalus couldn't keep the grin from his features, his heart fluttering for the umpteenth time as she spoke. This afternoon had turned out absolutely amazing, and the sunset male couldn't believe what transpired. Not only did she admit to harboring feelings, but she wanted to accompany him back to his home in the mountains.
Ooooh - what would his mother think? Or his father! It had been far too long since he'd seen either of them, but now with his return, he would be bringing a surprise; and not just a surprise but what he was fast beginning to believe was the most wonderful treasure in the world. Surely they would find no flaw in her; she seemed generous in spirit, personality and intelligence. And physically there was no comparison.
Walking sidled next to her, the young male accompanied her out of the village at a lazy pace. "Very well, darling, it's settled. While you break the news to your mother, I shall meet you at the very shore where we first met." Althalus reached over, lightly nuzzling her check and neck as if to memorize the sensation. Oh, he knew she'd be back. . . . Their parting would be brief, but even just the thought caused the stallion pain. Now that he'd found her, now that they were still learning about one another he didn't want to leave her for an instant.

Nivriti returned his affections in a similar manner, her heart still soaring. It would almost be unnecessary for flight, she felt as though her feelings would cause her to fly to her mother. Silly, silly thoughts.
'I will be there as soon as I am able.' she gave him one last touch, a press of her warm nose against his neck by the hairline, before turning with a swish of her floor length tail, trotting away before she took to the wing with a bunching of muscles and hard strokes of her wings.
