Sonja had since shuffled her way from the platform and hid herself amongst the group looking in the direction of the fight ever now and then. She still had a content grin upon her face from actually lasting longer than she had thought in the fight. The grin faded slightly as she listened to the next fight, it didn't sound like the 2nd student had much luck. Even though she'd like to listen to the battle she'd much rather found a bench, chair, or a tree to lean against to relax, but she decided to be polite and stand watching like all the other students.

Alain glanced around to see who is next opponent would be and found his gaze lingering over 'the loner.' He had to admit, he was curious.

"You, name," he ordered, nodding in the young girls direction. The rest of the class immediately followed his gaze to the girl most of them hadn't even noticed. She was very good at staying under the radar, probably something she'd been practicing for most of her life. Or maybe it came naturally...

Oh well, she had been wishing for more time, but that wasn't what was planned. "People call me Shadow, sir." Tenma said loud enough for everyone to hear. She didn't like the stares, too many eyes drilling into her with insane curiousity. Tenma decided to hang back until the professor had confirmed she was to be his next opponent.

((I apologize for my absence. When your laptop is in a different county it's hard to get online sweatdrop ))

Shadow? Is she joking?

He looked her up and down quickly, checking her body language. Her face didn't show much emotion, not a surprising feature on such a person, but her body told most of the story. In short, it said, "Screw off," in everyone's general direction. The way she acted told people on a subconscious level that she was not one to mess with, and he was sure now that it was something she'd been practicing for the majority of her life.

After his quick analyzation he motioned with his head, nodding back and to the side. It typically translated to, "Come here." Alain wondered if she read body language as well as she spoke it.

Riyu shifted her weight from one foot to the other. She had been watching the previous battles, and was glad that her invisibility rating was sky high. But even so, she was nervous that he might choose her to fight.
She always got so nervous whenever she was fighting. The only reason she was here in the first place was because one of her older brothers, Shuran, had told her she had talent in alchemy and should go here. It was the kind of thing that made her sweat. She was pretty sure this reaction was from the way her mom had acted to her. But she was good at blending in, and she soon relaxed her tense muscles. And then she heard A song for Adam playing in her head.
This was a usual thing. She would hear a tune that she knew, and she had to add lyrics. She didn't know why, she just...had to. She panicked, naturally. No way did she want to sing in public. It would make her...LESS invisible. And that was the kind of thing that troubled her. No matter how she tried to 'blend in', she always ended up...not blending in. It was a pain. It was the kind of thing that made her hate people more. But she didn't have a choice, so very quietly, she began to mumble,
"I had a friend named Adam
Though I did not know him well
He was very, very deep
Deep inside his well
I could guess what he was laughing at
But I couldn't really tell
Now the rumors say that Adam jumped
But I'm thinking that he fell..."

((Meh, WB.))

Tenma's ears picked up on the singing girl, odd, but it was nothing she hadn't been victim to herself. However, her eyes never left Alain. She knew exactly what he was thinking. He was smart enough to figure out her basic body language. Basic being the key word in that sentence. She also knew that he thought she was kidding when she called herself 'Shadow'. She got that reaction alot.

Her smirk still played on her lips as she appproached the platform. As she effortlessly lept onto the tattered stone her eyes gazed her new surroundings. She landed, shoulders parallel to her instructor, and kept gaze with his, but now her's was from the corner of her eyes. Her body was pretty easy to read -- I'm here.

He wasted no time in moving to the other side of the stone platform. He debated on making the next student walk to the other side, it was tiresome and his knees were starting to weaken. He'd be able to make it through the first lesson alright, but he didn't find the prospect of icing his knees later on tonight enjoyable. And I'm not helping the matter by dropping to my knees at the start of each of my matches...he thought, steadying his mind for the fight.

"Whenever you're ready," he said, letting the light breeze shuttle his voice across the gap between them.

Tenma smirked as he gave her the go. It wasn't often when she was given the first move, at least not willingly. Her notes ran through her mind quickly. First, and foremost, Alain was weakening in the knees, it was obvious to a trained by by comparing the way he had walked when he entered and now. Earth alchemy could help with that, get him rattled and off his feet. Next, he was weakened from his past battles. Quick and consecutive attacks would prove advantageous. Finally, she had seen some of his moves, which seemed to be focused around earth so far. The breeze would be an advantage if she used air based, plus the speed of the attacks would work for the best. If all failed she would resort to her weapons.

Tenma, using her middle and index finger, began to draw a transmutation circle. Granted, it didn't look like it. She was drawing it in the air, it couldn't be seen, but the effect was still the same. She finished with incredible speed, the scripted circle glowing a bright amber in mid air. This was the wierd thing, it did absolutely nothing, at least that was apparent. Then she quickly reached the ground, drawing another circle. With this one she began to pull minerals from the stone, the friction causing a samll earthquake and for the rock to fall appart. This all was done in a matter of seconds. She was fast, that was evident.

The entire time she had been creating thhe circles Tenma's eyes never left Alain. Neither did the smirk that spread across her face.

Riyu brushed off the stares that she was getting and opened a textbook. She wasn't really paying attention to the professor. She figured if she ignored him enough, he would get annoyed with her, give her up, and let her go on with her self-teaching.
Eh, that was stupid to think that way. He wouldn't, as he probably wasn't allowed to kick her out of the school. On completely unrelated terms, she had problems, and she talked to herself all the time. And she placed lyrics into songs that no one could hear.
That was enough for most people to throw her in a loony bin.

This time Alain was forced to drop to a knee. The small earthquake surprised him, usually alchemy didn't cause the deterioration of the surrounding area unless it was something big. She'd obviously been planning her attacks for a while now. He was most worried about the circle she'd etched in the air. He'd seen it done before, but never by someone so young. She was planning simultaneous attacks on him, that much was obvious.

He quickly bent down and started scribbling a more advanced circle on the cracked stone. It took longer to do, but the effects would be much stronger. He finished the circle and reached into his pocket, grabbing one of the cards he had made for today. He pressed it to the ground and immediately a stone pillar shot out of the ground toward Shadow.

Tenma almost began to laugh when the pillar was sent her way, but instead she just gave a smile, a devious smile. She kept a close eye on the pillar as she began gathering the minerals in her hands, they almost had a magnetic charge to eachother. The minerals clung together, forming something, but that something wasn't apparent, yet. As the pillar drew closer Tenma finished the next t-circle, this one was also on the ground. The minerals clung to the deteriorating ground through her manipulation and helped her lift a large slab of the debris. She threw it, almost like a frisbee, at the crouching professor. The pillar was upon her now and she dove to the side, keeping a close eye on it. When it came to the physical aspect she couldn't be beat.

The pillar had missed, as expected, and now a large slab of the platform was hurtling through the air at him. The card he held against the ground flashed again and a large form emerged a few feet in front of him, shaping itself into a gigantic hand. He manipulated the stone, moving it into a position to catch the projectile. The hand moved back when the makeshift frisbee hit it, softening the impact to keep it all from breaking apart. When all was said and done, the hand and slab stood like some strange museum piece in front of him. He shifted to the side a bit to block his student from view, the monument serving as cover from anymore distanced attacks she may throw.

Once again that devious smile spread across Tenma's features. True, her view was blocked, but that wasn't something she was unaccustom to. This also ment the professors view was blocked. Now would be a really good time to get in a direct attack, he had play his part perfectly so far.

Tenma, once out of view, thrust her mineral encrusted hand to the ground with incredible force. Her control was incredible. The minerals quickly ran through the cracks of the platform. As soon as they were under the professor they exploded out from under the professor in the form of a hand, much resembling the one that stood as his barrier. The hand began to close in attempts to trap the man in its grasp.

He was shocked. That was the simplest way to put it. It was something he hadn't expected from a Freshman at all. This kind of alchemy was on a much higher level than he taught to the younger students. She had obviously had former training. He didn't try to escape, it was pointless, he was completely surrounded by the fingers on her stone hand, which looked more and more like bars. He did however pull another card out of his pocket, pressing it against one of the fingers as it closed in on him.

At first nothing happened. He was held firmly in place a few feet above the ground by his students hand. Then the card in his hand disentigrated in a bright red flash and cracks started spreading out from where his hand now touched the stone. Suddenly, the hand fell apart, leaving Alain suspended in mid-air for a split second before gravity took affect. He fell the few feet, barely getting his feet under him before hitting the ground. He turned to face Shadow and smiled. He was thoroughly impressed by her.

Tenma, oddly enough, felt a wave of pleasure wah over her when the teacher smiled at her. The approval of another adult. Anyways, enough with the touchy-feely crap. Her gaze still cold as stop, but the smirk that played on her face shifted slightly, turning into something that resembled a smile, but it wasn't.

Next was the amber circle that was glowing in the air. As the professor stumbled slightly Tenma thrust her hands against the circle, causing it to activate. It took true skill to use this technique. A hurricane force wind came towards the man at full assault. There wasn't much that could make this attack any worse, but Tenma was the kind of person who knew how to take it to the next level. The left over minerals still lacing Tenma's hands formed thick needles that went flying with the wind. Lets see him dodge this one.
