I have an entire lesson set written on my computer! Could I please, PLEASE be the lesson writer?
You can be a lesson writer, but I was hoping 5 or so people could just do a lesson a day that way we can bring all of our knowledge to the table (everyone learns Japanese sooooo differently)

I think I just thought of a way to handle to kana/romaji problem. Double posts!

So every time you post a lesson, write everything in romaji, post it, hit "quote it", erase the quote code and replace the romaji with kana, then post again. At the top, you can title your posts "Lesson #: romaji" then the next one "lesson #: kana" If you are on a computer than you can't write kana on, then at the top maybe write "mod: please add kana." Just a thought . . .

Also, the lessons should be written in the same set of romaji, I vote for "wapuro" romanji.

So far the interesed lessons writers are
entivore
koiyuki
I guess myself

i like that idea, i guess that is a good thought, about the double char set, but i don't really understand what "wapuro" (ワプロ) roma is...
also, i'm interested in writing a lesson or two for the basic sections...

I think that we should do as a first lesson learning the letters and once the members have mastered that then we can move on to some starter words and easy sentence structures. -あ い う え お --か き く け こ ---さ し つ せ そ ----ま み む め も ----- な に ぬ ね の ------や ゆ よ ------わ を there are more but i have to get my book out and look them up... sweatdrop (i will edit later with all)
the ones that your missing are は ひ ふ へ ほ ー た ち つ て と ー ら り る れ ろ ー ん
i think. i might be missing some... and of course, you forgot the entire katakana alpahabet...

Wapuro romaaji refers to how your would type japanese in using an english keyboard in IME. This is mainly a way to deal with the long a short vowels in Japanese (especially long o and e sounds). Some romanji methods just write the "o" twice for words like "oo-sama" (kind) or "Tookyoo" (both the o's in Tokyo are long) but most long o sounds are actually written with the characters for "o" (or ko, so, ho, whatever) and the character for u. It's confusing because some some double o's are actually written with an extra "o" like "ookii" (big) or "tooi" (far).

Anyway, when we do lessons, I think any double vowels written in romaaji should corespond to what it actually is in Japanese.

I wouldn't mind helping with lessons. ^__^ But how much notice do we get? In case we know we can't make a particular deadline beforehand, etc.

Unrelated but I could help too...proofread or something I dont' really care.

Here's how I remember the syllables in the alphabet (compliments of Nihongo Gakkou xD)

a ka sa ta na ha ma ya ra wa

And if you remember, a i u e o, and that wa and ya are the exceptions to that rule you have it mostly memorized. Also: adding tentens and marus - you can add tentens to any of them and get ga, za, da, ba. If you add the maru to ha you can get pa syllables

I was hoping we'd get 5-7 lesson writers, and each one is assigned a day, and if you can't post on your day for whatever reason by midnight of your day then you just miss it and will have to try to post next week (and I think it should be midnight Pacific time, so like if you're on the east coast and your day is tuesday you would technically have until 3am wednesday to post.)

Dang school! I really want to get these together at some point.

Though I personally already know the syllabary kana they would be a perfect place to start, and then for a while work with the with the members to make sure they actually "absorb" the characters. Then move on vocabulary, then a little bit of time on particles for the time being, then grammar (which should strectch for quite a while), then particles again but more in-depth this time around.

Then on one particular day of the week offer some colliquial japanese to be learned and discussed, not so time-consuming that it takes a whole days lesson, but just a little bonus add-in to keep things interesting!

Nevertheless, actual japanese lessons would be a perfect feature forum. Why wouldn't it, it suits the guild to a T!

こんにちは

Perhaps a kanji learning game, where you try to pick out or match the correct kanji from among a bunch of look alikes. example:

猫 描

太 犬 大

Which two of the above mean "cat" and "dog"?

During college vacation, I would be happy to try to teach Japanese. I am currently enrolled in Japanese 101 on my campus, and have found short cuts for memonics to study as well as the help my tutors and sensee have given me.

I would suggest doing hiragana before katakana and then kanji as I learned it. Hiragana is just easier to write, and kanji is very hard, so that's why I think it would be easier that way. However, I can only write rooma-ji on my computer...

my only worrie is that would we have the lesson in a thread, and then when the lesson is over, lock the thread?I am always late to things because of where I live and other things that are not the internet,so maybe we could have the weeks lessons and have them all posted up already for the week and people can just go and look at it in there spare time...sorry if this is stuped and dosent make sence sweatdrop

For every day you miss, the instructor could PM the lesson so people don't have to worry about missing a lesson.
