"Wha?" He blinked as Wolfwood blessed him.... against bad food? And then registered the returned book. "Hey!" Vash jumped at the book, pinning it to the ground before it could slam into his friend.

"I like my coat! Oouf!" He swayed as Dante head-butted him and pouted. Two on one wasn't fair. "This is Dante. Dante's my partner in Bounty Hunting.... Dante this is Wolfwood. A so-called Priest who watches my back and pinches my double dollars." He nodded sagely, approving of his brief overview of each of them. "And I'm Vash."

Just to make sure they all knew who everyone was.

Wolfwood dropped to the floor as the book came sailing towards his way. No way was he going to get into a missile-contest with two red coats! He was swiftly coming to the conclusion that only those that wore red coats were People To Watch Out For. If what he was now was like a cat, Wolfwood figured he'd already lost most of his lives just by hanging around Vash.

The priest sat up and dusted a sleeve off, watching Dante with open curiosity. "A pleasure to meet you, Dante. How long have you known this needle-noggin'?" An open grin at the end of that statement denoted a joke, and Wolfwood jumped back in case Vash decided to bap his head again. "Hey now, those double dollars went towards a good cause! You can't expect a priest like me showing poor manners by not takin' you out to lunch when you decided to drop in on a town, right?"

Dante blinked over at Wolfwood, taking in his appearance and such ... and then looked back to Vash. "So-called Priest, huh?" he repeated with a grin. At least this guy looked like a bit more fun than some of the Priests Dante had seen before.

"Like he said, I'm Dante," the silver-haired kitsu offered, holding out a paw like it was a hand to shake or something. At least he was reasonably certain that Wolfwood had also probably been human at some point, owing to clothing and such. "Nice to meet you too."

"And I've known Vash ooh... 'bout a week or two now? He didn't tell me he knew anybody else 'round here, and definitely not any Priests."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 09, 2008 11:01 am

Vash shook his head, "It's not taking me out for lunch if you're paying for it with my money." Heaving a sigh he looked back at Dante, "I didn't know he was here! I found him not too long ago." He nodded as though Wolfwood had absolutely nothing to do with their reunion and it was all thanks to him. With a broad grin, he also stepped a little away just in case Wolfwood decided to bap him.

"He's a 'wandering priest'," Vash nodded as he thought things over, "Only thing you need to watch out for is his penny pinching." Sidling even closer to Dante, he whispered into his ear, "Oh and his confessional..."

Wolfwood drew himself up at Dante's remark. "Nit just any 'so-called Priest,'" he replied, looking curiously at Dante's offered paw before reaching out with his own, clasping it as best as he could to offer a handshake (pawshake?). "I'm also not too bad with a gun, if I say so myself. I can hold my own against this goofball here, that's for sure." He grinned, recalling the gun tournament he and Vash both entered in order to help out a person in need. Ah, those were the days!

"That all depends on how you look at things," he told Vash, giving him a wide grin and nodding in agreement. "Yeah, I'm still trying to get used to... Well, this and these." A pair of blue-black wings were unfurled and furled again, and Wolfwood flicked his tails from side to side as he spoke in order to indicate his kitsu-appendages.

The priest perked his ears at the mention of one of the tools of his trade, chuckling quietly. "I can give you a demonstration if you want," he offered, "I take it you were a bounty hunter prior to coming here...? Got anything you want off your chest? Any lingering doubts, sins, or...?"

Dante nodded just slightly at Vash's warning, though he didn't really understand why such a thing could be so dangerous. Then he sort of blinked at Wolfwood's offer, head tilting.

"Nah," he said then, with a quick smile. "Not really. I'm kinda still a bounty hunter, but nothing about that bothers me." That smile widened, revealing for just a moment that his teeth were maybe juuust a bit sharper than the average kitsu's.

"Only when I'm so hungover I can't see straight..." Vash muttered, sticking out his tongue and knowing exactly what Wolfwood was talking about. Breaking into a grin he shook his head, "And if he remember to bring a weapon with him."

A laugh as Vash eyed the Priest, "Good choice. I've been scammed out of more double dollars that way..." A good natured tease as he glanced over at Dante, "Any bites yet? Nobody's spoken to me about any bounties..." A pout as he rubbed his chin with the back of his paw in an attempt at a thoughtful pose. Tossing his head to get the tie out of the way, Vash's gaze played over the white stuff that was quickly disappearing against Dante's clothing and fur.

"Where did you come from? Why's that ash disappearing?" He tilted his head to the side and glanced at Wolfwood to see if the Priest had any idea of this strange phenomenon. In all his years on their desert home he'd never seen snow - it a foreign concept.

The priest shrugged in response to Dante. "All right, but if you ever happen to be troubled, just call -- the first one'll be on the house." There, then, was the innocent beaming of a benevolent benefactor, the same face used against Vash mid-swindle to win him over completely. Would it work on Dante?

Wolfwood's eyes flickered to the grin. Dante was the first kitsu other than his own reflection and Vash's that he had ever seen, and Wolfwood was intrigued. My, my. What large fangs you have! There was a certain edge to them that reminded Wolfwood of a certain individual, save for he was clad in white than red...

"Aw c'mon now buddy, you can't mean that!" Wolfwood quipped to Vash, turning his dark eyes onto him. "It's not swindling when it's saving your soul! Besides, you'd always manage to get it back in the form of lunch, so don't start cryin' about it now. Greed's one of the many ways to downfall."

At the mention of disappearing ash, Wolfwood turned to look at Vash curiously. "Ash? That can't be. If there was ash, then there'd be a big fire... We would've smelled something last night even in that state, but it doesn't look like anything's burned down nearby. It's... truly strange." He fell silent, walking across the room to place his paws on the windowsill and looking out. Like Vash, he didn't know what snow was -- in fact, this ash or whatever was pretty to look at, all though his paws were starting to feel cold...

Dante smiled and shook his head slightly at the interplay between the two of them. They had obviously been friends a long time and were pretty familiar with each other's jibes and jokes. It was fun to watch them, in a way.

Then he blinked slightly at the mention of "ash" and glanced back over his coat. Oh! "This? This isn't ask, it's snow..." he said, with a little tilt of his head. Following Wolfwood over to the window, he leaned up to peer out as well. "Man, it's really coming down now... wasn't that much when I came in," he murmured. "You guys have never seen snow before?"

Vash followed the two of them to the window and peered out as well, blinking as he breath fogged up the glass. What the...? Wiping the moisture away, he frowned, "Snow? No... Home's a big vast desert. What's snow?" Vash pressed his nose against the glass, tails twitching.

"You've seen this stuff before? What's it do?" A silly question perhaps, but for Vash it was important. Was it like a sandstorm? Or even one of the sudden, deadly electrical storms that swept across the desert on occasion? Should they seek cover? As hardy as Vash was, being struck by lightning or caught in an abrasive sandstorm was not high of his priority list.

"Wolfwood, you go look." He added thoughtfully, glancing over at the other, "I'll give you cover." Now it seemed it might some type of enemy. Hopefully there weren't any spots like quicksand, he hated quicksand.

Wolfwood shook his head negatively in response. "I've never heard or seen of it either 'til now." He backed away from the window, shaking his head before lifting up a paw to breathe on it. "Whatever it is, just getting near it is enough to make my paws numb."

The dark kitsu looked sharply up at Vash, his ears back and pinned onto his hair. "Oooh no, you're trying to pull something on me, mister Stampede. Why don't you go on ahead, and I'll provide the cover? You're more adapted to these types of situations, and besides," he grinned wickedly, "your shot's nothing to brag about when there's danger compared to mine."

Dante turned to stare at the two of them as they suddenly started talking about the snow like it was something to fight. Oh dear...

But just as he was about to reassure them, Dante had a better idea. Why not encourage the them insead? Just to see what would happen ... until they saw for themselves that it wasn't going to hurt them. This ... could be fun.

Dropping down to stand on the floor, Dante drew himself up a bit and said, "No, no ... you both stay here. I have fought this ... enemy ... before. I'll go outside, and you can watch to make sure I don't get in trouble. Someone has to be the scout, after all!" And with that, he went padding bravely toward the door.

"I'm not! I'm good at covering!" Vash feigned injury at that, pouting as he shook his head. His ears too had wilted as he bounced from foot to foot. Well.... if Wolfwood didn't want to go investigate he wou-

Glancing up at Dante, he tilted his head to side, a look of utmost respect on his face, "Thanks Dante!~" Glaring at Wolfwood he seemed to be accusing the other of cowardice, "See? He'll do it. We've got your back, alright?" The latter was directed to Dante once more. If it was anything like that time in the desert, some knowledge of what they face would be priceless.

Wait, enemy? Wolfwood narrowed his eyes at Dante when he turned his back towards them, thinking. Why did he call it an enemy when he had traces of it on his coat? Speaking of -- the priest blinked in surprise. It was gone!

What exactly was this stuff? Wolfwood threw a suspicious glance at Vash, jerking his head toward Dante before tilting his head to one side as if to ask a question. Is this guy for real...?

Wolfwood returned to the window, reaching up with his paws and setting them on the sill to look out. "I dunno, Vash," he said quietly, "There's something about this that seems... odd."

Ignoring the two of them for the moment, Dante headed outside, a wide grin on his face for the moment as his back was to the window. Then he set his expression in a serious sort of look and started rearing up to bat at the snowflakes as they fell.

He turned it into something almost like a dance, using several moves that he actually used to fight demons to make it look more realistic ... had to give them a show, after all!

Eventually, though, the snow started to build up on his coat and fur, and he pretended to start getting tired, like the stuff was heavy, weighing him down. Eventually, he reared up on hind paws one last time and then let himself topple over backwards right into a huge snowdrift, laughing to himself as he put one paw to his chest in a dramatic sort of gesture.

Now ..... what would they do?
