Poison. Ninja deal from the shadows, are silent and stealthy and hidden. What other weapon can be more deadly and unseen than poison? A slip of mercury in a well or water supply pipes...some poison powdered on an unsuspecting person's meal...a puff of smoke in someone's face...a fatal salve that seeps through the skin...The possibilities are endless. One drop of poison could allow you to survive and heal, but two drops would have you drop dead in seconds. Simple kunais dipped in poison could make a scratch on a shoulder fatal. You can do so much with poison, and it's a weapon that can take so many forms...I love it^^

I have to disagree with that. Although I admit the current battle with Sasori is poison-oriented, there haven't been that much references to it. Drugs, maybe, but if you put any sort of substance that affects the system as poison, then all sorts of blade are overused. Including elbow blades.
And predictable??? No way. Imagine Kakashi turning traitor and slipping poison in Naruto's ramen or something. You won't have seen that one coming. And it all depends on what the poison does and how it kills, how it's used and when. Also, it's much harder to know that someone is a poison master than someone who's a blademaster, for the simple reason that you can't see it. Which makes it even less predictable.
And boring? Well, it depends on tastes I guess. I find katanas and swords extremely boring. Now you have to agree that those ARE overused to the extreme.

boring, no...poison is a great example of something you don't see too often...but with the adding mercury to a water pipe or water supply part...that has unforseen and unpredictable results...not only will that poison linger in that supply so that if you may one day need it, you won't be able to use it, but also, if any innocent bystanders happen to use the water, like non-violent villagers, they will also be victims...Unless you're on a village killing rampage or whatever, you probably won't poison the water pipes...but poison-tipped kunais aren't a bad idea...

See though you can't say that it isn't boring to myself. I just personally think that seeing a tactic used so may times gets boring and I seem to see it in a lot of plans. Thats why personally I think its boring. its all based on personal opinions though, so you can only argue on your own behave in most of these situatons.

well gosh, my choice weapon used to be a ninja-to, but after reading naruto, i gotta say, i'm really starting to love those kunai! (which actually appeared first in the dragonball manga and were used by sergent purple who was a ninja! xd , and dragonball also happens to be, if you didn't know, a shonen jump manga)

Poison is BORING. Heck, if not done properly, it could be considered powergaming.
Not to mention there's no point in killing someone just with poison, because that's boring to RP and boring to those reading it.
"I release a cloud of toxic dust." = -Everyone in the area chokes and dies- "Victorious, I... go to an arcade or something, I don't have to report in for another day or so." = "s**t, I'm tired of this. I think I'm going to go find random people to harass." = "... I'm in jail, now. This is just great, some ninja I turned out to be. Momma always said I should have been a businessman."
No point unless you deal your first blow, many blows in-between, and the killing blow. Now THAT'S never old. =P
And I like unconventional weapons. Especially amorphous or very flexible ones... even semi-sentient. (As demonstrated by Kotai's scarves. Mucho fun.) Then there's wires... incredibly deadly, with the right wire you can cut anything solid and decapitate anyone almost instantly. Difficult to handle, but fun to use.

- Chuusuusei Biribiri A Ninjutsu technique where the ninja turns their chakra into an electrical pulse which is transmitted into an enemy's body by striking the base of their neck. The electrical impulse travels up their brain stem and disrupts the flow of electricity in the nervous system.
Omg and I soooo said Tonfas which are elbow blade weapons but can also be blunt. I love them... as well as kamas which no one else has mentioned but they are sythe like weapons hooked together by a chain. So much fun... and so very destructive.

Kamas are actually small battle-sickles. I own a pair for tournament usage.
Now, Kusari-gama are a definite favorite of mine... Kuraisennin's chosen weapon.

my favorite weapon over all would have to be.... the nodachi...also known as the Dai-Katana...a six foot blade of emense strength...but hey you gotta be pretty strong yourself to whip that bugger around. but out of close range weapons, i'll have to stick with my Kodachis...if you dont know what they are...the best way to explain is if you've ever seen Rurouni Kenshin, Aoshi Shinamori uses them...lol
