Sabin raised a silent, approving eyebrow at the appearance of the paperwork. Clever... Apparently Aubrey did have more cognizance of the situation than he assumed. She was just dealing with it in a different way.
Sabin watched as Emelyn unwittingly signed away most of her rights, a fingernail subconsciously tapping out a tune on the metal cabinet he stood next to.

Aubrey's smile grew even wider as she watched her sign the papers, and for a moment - just a moment, Sabin could swear she had that glimmer in her eye that Moreau was seen with so often. She scopped up the file and clipped it back on her clipboard.
"Mr. Sabin, can you please go find Miss Emelyn here some dry clothes, please? Don't want to add pneumonia to a concussion!"
Aubrey walked over to a black panel on the wall. She placed her hand on what seemed to be some kind of reader and the handless penal slid open with a swoosh, displaying an impressive collection of vials. Each were labeled with a series of numbers and letters, and Aubrey was bouncing on her heels as she looked them over.
Once or twice she plucked out a vial, turned to look over at the woman, shook her head, then replaced it. Finally, Aubrey did her best to supress a giggle and plucked out a vial filled with a bluish liquid.
"Here we go, Miss White," Aubrey waved her hand across the reader and the panel closed up again. Going over to a cabinet, which also opened with no handle, she pulled out a syringe and extracted the serum into it.
"This might sting alittle," Aubrey said in a motherly way, gently swabbing her shoulder then injecting the needle into her.
Indeed, almost immediately, a strong tingling sensation shot down her arm, but it didn't exactly hurt. The needle pinched, of course, and her hair stood on end. But after a moment it was over, and Aubrey was throwing the syringe into a BioHazard bin.

Em had grimaced a bit at the insertion- but since she wasn't looking directly at the syringe, she'd been fine- her tolernace for pain was high enough that a little stick barely registered, except for the momet of discomfort that couldn't be avoided.
"What is that for?" She said, still mostly confused with the whirlwind of events. "I really think I'm up on my vacci..." the word fell out of her mouth- she couldn't remember the end of it, and instead just shook her head and inclined her tempered arm.

Sabin nodded and went off on the errand - knowing where some of the basic staff clothing was housed down on the third floor.
He selected a simple set of light teal scrubs from the clothing cabinet. They were built for comfort and fit a wide range of sizes. Returning back into the 8th floor examination room, he noted that Aubrey had already given her the injection, and made a mental note to check back later to see which serum Aubrey had chosen.
"Here we are." Sabin said, offering Emelyn the bundle. "These are clean and dry, and should be rather comfortable."

"Standard procedure," Aubrey said simply. She gently reached up her head, feeling the bump there. "We're going to have to keep you in observation overnight, Miss White. We'll be checking on you every hour or so to make sure you don't have any excessive swelling or bruising. But if you make it through the night - I think you'll make a quick recovery."
Aubrey smiled and thanked Sabin. "I'll lead you down to an obersation room on Floor 3. Its not really the Ritz, but we can't let you off to the town just yet. I'll show you to your permanent accomodations tomorrow morning.
Aubrey led Emelyn onto the elevator and took to the third floor.

Emelyn hadn't had time for anything but a thank you nod for Sabin- and for this Aubrey, who was carrying around as cheery a demeanor as Emelyn had ever seen- she had nothing but mostly blank stares and nods. Very little was making a great deal of sense to her- but the 'follow me' command (even implied) was well understood, and she made her way wobbily.

Aubrey showed her into a blank, grey room. There was a cot, a small bedside table, and a small bathroom that was seperated by a curtain rather than a door. The floor was tile and the walls were a calming shade of blue. One of the walls was a mirror, obviously a two-way. There was also a video camera up in the corner.
Aubrey gave Emelyn from Tylenol to take, then bid her goodnight.
While Emelyn could take cat nasps if she wanted. Every hour on the hour, her door would knock and someone would come in, take her temperature, examine her head, and ask her inane questions - like her name or where she came from.
Finally, Aubrey showed back up at nine a.m., looking just as chipper as when she had left her. "Good morning, dear! Good to see you made it through the night. I can show you somewhre alittle more comfortable now."

It had been a long, discombobulated night- thinking back, Emelyn realized that the parts that seemed the most real had probably been dreams, and those dreams that had seemed too surreal for life- answering questions about where she'd grown up and who she was... were the reality. In the morning, when the Dr. came into her room and woke her, Em was still a little out of shape from the physical demands of the prior evening/night- but her mental abilities seemed to have stepped back into line.
"Good morning...Aubrey was it? Dr Aubrey- I'm sorry." She rubbed her head and gave the sunny woman a small smile. "Thank you for last night; I'm feeling better this morning. Although my head still hurts a little." She made her way slowly to her feet- she wouldn't say no to nicer quarters, temporary as they were.

"Just Aubrey is fine if you're more comfortable," she said, smiling. "I'm so glad to here you're feeling better!" Aubrey patted a satchel she carreid with her as she led Emelyn out of the room and towards the elevators. "Usually we have a cafeteria, but if you're not feeling up to socializing right now, I have some bagels and cream cheese, and some milk, in here for you."
Aubrey rooted for her bag and pulled out a brown paper sack lunch bag, and a carton of milk, and handed to the woman as they got into the elevator.
"Hopefully, you'll be completely back to normal soon. The place we have for you to stay is really quite nice."
The Jeep was parked out side, and Aubrey held open the passenger side door for her.
Once secured in, Aubrey pulled out from the lab and headed down the path. Once the lab building was cleared, a small town could be seen below. All the building were rather spartan in appearance, but there was a large building in the middle, surrounding by a few rows of two-story townhouses. A few of the houses looked very odd - up on slits, or filled up with water like a giant aquarium. But for the most part, it looked like a little suburban planned community.

For the first time since she'd spotted the island over the waves of the storm, Emelyn wondered about this strange island. She couldn't remember having seen any sort of town structures like those- and whatever innoculation she'd received must be for some sort of tropical disease likely to be caught out here in... what, the jungle? She couldn't even remember if she'd taken the Wilhemina in the direction of any tropical islands. She turned to the woman of many roles- first her doctor, and now her chauffer.
"What is this place, if you don't mind my asking? What's the name of the island? I don't recognize it on my charts at all."

"Oh, it's Doctor Moreau's Island, he owns it, thats what everyone calls it. I think it technically has some long, hard to pronounce native name, but to be honest, I just don't know. We're a research facility, and some of the only civilization aroudn for miles. You're lucky you washed up here, of all places."
Aubrey pulled up in front of the townhouses. The bottom flat was labeled "7" on the door.
"Oh, speaking of the good doctor, I'm so sorry you couldn't meet him last night, but he was caught up in things. I'm sure you'll get your chance."
Aubrey looked down and checked her cliboard again. "Looks like you're upstairs, in eight." Aubrey headed up the stairs, fishing for a key on a large keyring she pulled out of her satchel.

"Eight," she said aloud, mostly to herself to cement the number into consciousness as she tromped up the stairs at a markedly slower pace than the enthusiastic doctor. If this island was a research facility, she figured that explained why it hadn't appeared on any of her travel charts... not that she'd been very good at following them. When you're after solitude, sometimes it doesn't matter where you go to get it- as long as there's not a soul around to point you in a direction- wrong or right.
"Doctor Moreau," she said aloud again- this time to Aubrey. "I'm sorry I didn't get to meet him, either. It seems he's my benefactor as well, for having all of you kind people out here in the first place who will drop what they're doing to rescue a pathetic boater." She smiled, even if she was still at the doctor's back. "...What manner of research?" She asked, hoping she wasn't being a pest.

"Aubrey unlocked the door and held it open for Emelyn.
"All kinds. We work on enhancement and performance type stuff. You know, for sports and stuff. And gene theropy, for medical patients. I can't say much more than that, I hope you understand."
Aubrey closeed the door behind Miss White and pulled the key off the keyring, offering it to her.
The room looked like a hotel or dorm room. There was a double bed, two bedside tables with lambs, a closet, a bathroom, a mini fride, a desk, and a dressor.
"If you need anything," Aubrey said, walking over to a telepad on a panel by the door, "you can contact the Town Center by pressing 0. They should answer most of your questions, or if you have an emergency, they can contact us."
"Otherwise, if you get hungry or bored, the Town Center is just a five minute walk down to the south. You can see it from your window. Hard to miss. There's a lounge and a cafeteria, if you get hungry. And of course, this is a tropical island.. we have beaches!"
Aubrey smiled and heade back to the door. "Oh, and I'll see about getting you some replacement clothes and maybe a swimsuit. Can't enjoy a beach without one of those."

"I understand," Em said, smiling and nodding to further punctuate her response to all the information- including the 'confidentiality' respect of the research they were involved in. Emelyn was curious by nature- but right now, just the fact that they'd taken time out of their schedules to take care of her- rescue her, really, was enough. She didn't need to know the ins and outs of the organization. She beamed.
"Thanks again. ...And you're right. What you said earlier, I mean. I am lucky to be here."

"Happy to help, hun! Now get some rest." Aubrey waved and headed out the door.
((TA-DA! Emelyn is now officially introduced and free to roam about the island!))
