Edward Fauste (born on the twelfth of September) is the proprietor of Daemonolgie and one of the very few dedicated practitioners of the dark arts remaining on Gaia. He was taught by Martel di Desvignes alongside Mhin Tae-yul; his instruction began at the age of ten, after the death of his father, and ended at age nineteen. Despite the abrupt nature of his education, he is quite a capable summoner and uncannily wise for someone whose time as a student was cut so short.

He could be said to be rather cold and standoffish; in fact this is a personality trait shared by most summoners of any kind, since the ability to call up the spirits of the underworld by one's own will is bound to be a cause for arrogance. However, he is unfailingly polite and bends more towards chivalrous than not; he is educated, and can discuss literature for hours on end without being distracted or bored. In addition, Edward's interests beyond the black arts are quite cultured and he is more likely to be found browsing in the library than in a bar singing karaoke. His favorite books are Russian romances, and it's speculated that he may have some of the trashier, less intellectual romances hidden among the tomes in the Daemonolgie shop.

Because of the remarkable fashion of his parents' deaths, he is inherently distrustful of demon hunters; the Fauste family line was populated with summoners, many of whom made bargains for their souls, but it wasn't until the involvement of the Van Helsing family of hunters that it truly became a physically dangerous profession. It is speculated that that particular branch of an otherwise peaceful family is the reason that many of the dark arts practitioners dropped the art, breaking all their contracts, or suicided; those that did neither were either killed by the Van Helsings or emigrated through use of demonic proxy to alternate dimensions. His parents were killed, but Edward himself was moved to Gaia along with his teacher.

Mhin Tae-yul (12 April) is the co-proprietor of Daemonolgie and the resident specialist of high-ranking demonic summoning as well as a skilled necromancer. He was classically trained in the Mhin family of summoners, first by an uncle named Dong-ji and then at the age of nine his tutelage was transferred to Martel di Desvignes for reasons unknown at the time. His extended education in the demonic arts grants him greater power and knowledge than Edward, and he has proven proficiency in controlling high-ranking demons as proven by his summoning and binding of a fallen angel.

His defining trait, like his partner, is his overweening arrogance. Unlike Edward Fauste, however, Tae-yul has no concept of human politeness despite being raised in a highly traditional Korean family. He is rude, angry, and prone to violent outbursts that greatly reduce his value to the shop; despite his greater skills, he is in fact the more disposable of the two proprietors and he knows it. This causes him to lash out, particularly at people who are also aware that he is not the center of attention. His particular interests are hawking (practiced with a raven, as it were) and... well, he's got a pretty one-track mind that goes to Summoning, Sex, and Violence. Occasionally to Scones, but those are the big three. He enjoys the finer things in life, and is extremely vain.

Tae-yul is not incapable of kind feelings towards another human being; he adores his older sister, Hae-min, and often gets his most violent towards people who he sees as acting inappropriately towards her. This often includes Edward and, sometimes, his own demon.

He is extraordinarily proprietary, and does not allow his things to be messed with by anyone he doesn't trust. As those people he trusts are, by necessity he believes, very rare, most of the time you can count on someone's hand getting forcibly removed if it touches him or his possessions.

「martel di desvignes」

Martel Dieudonne di Desvignes (5 November) was one of the great unsung geniuses of the French society of dark arts. Though her specialty was dealing with demons (and she had, in fact, walked through Hell alive three times before her mysterious death) she also showed great talent in the necromantic arts, divination, curses, literomancy, and ya sang. The latter proved to be her 'signature', by which her contracts were recognized, but in the end, though, she is best remembered for her practices in the Gnostic Luciferian style. Taught by Ainsley di Desvignes, she died without issue but passed the di Desvignes grimoire on to her two students, Edward Fauste and Mhin Tae-yul.

Knowledgeable and straightforward, Martel was almost suicidally blunt. She was not afraid to slap people who were being stupid; her students often sported bruises on their wrists or complained of whiplash when she caught them doing something wrong. She was as honest as she was elegantly unkind. Her appearance could best be described "a pretty woman who just didn't care"; her clothes were often too large and selected for comfort beyond good fit. The supernatural realm was her only concern, and her appearance didn't matter there, so why should it matter here?

All the same, many viewed her untimely demise at the hands of a failed summoning - the story that the two students put out - as a tragic loss to the Gaian summoning community.

Now she has returned as a particular kind of necromantic construct called a "lich", with her soul contained in a variety of phylactery by which she is tied to her humanoid body. Should she lose contact with the phylactery - rumored to be a watch, or perhaps a necklace of some sort - it is speculated she will die.

It is unknown what her feelings are on this untimely resurrection but it's widely speculated she does not mind.

Mhin Hae-min (23 April) is an internationally recognized landscape designer, having had widely recognized success in her work for various country clubs, corporate inner sanctums, and public parks. She is also an arcane researcher and possessor of three separate grimoires; she works part-time as a secretary-c**-housekeeper for her younger brother at Daemonolgie, because she believes he would not be able to take care of himself otherwise. Her main career is that of a freelance floral and landscape designer.

Like her Tae-yul, Hae-min is a native of Korea; she studied under the same uncle as he until Mhin Dong-ji's untimely death. At that point, she was discovered to lack sufficient power to summon true demons, but she had never desired to work as a contractor or summoner; what had always fascinated her was the spirit world and the powers involved, which lead to a fruitful sideline career in the studies of the occult world. Her hobbies beyond the obvious are cooking, cleaning, and gardening, but she also enjoys a good shopping expedition.

She, unlike many who practice the dark arts, is polite to a fault; her personality is the same sort of sweet that most would associate with strawberries; a little bit tart, but mostly sweet and easy to love. It seems that her light and airy personality is hard to resist; her presence seems to inspire a feeling of protectiveness in most people, because there is no way someone like her can be anything harmful. It's said she shares her brother's temper, but no one has seen it to prove it; if she does, her fuse is certainly much longer.

Though she does not have the personal power to switch a contract or bind a particular powerful demon of her own, she is quite reliable in terms of knowledge and is the best person at Daemonolgie to approach for matters such as possession, exorcism, haunting, and location spells. She is also enjoys the pursuit of literomancy and is always willing to give divination a try.
