how do you do this crap??!
okay. before i start writing the introduction, let's think of a main purpose for the game. in Back to Nature it was to get your family farm back into shape, in DS it was to save the Harvest Goddess. I'm thinking that the main purpose might be to bring life to a dying town (well, three since we're thinking of three towns...which we need a name for "our" town).

nice. XD
That would be pretty cool for people to move in. I can only think of one person to move in (Aja). But more of what i was thinking of was that the town was getting poor and the people were thinking of moving to the city and you have to come and bring wealth to the city or something. Would it be a better idea to have the town start out with x amount of families and you unlock families or start off with the usual set of characters and have some people that we've made up move in?
I don't think that the moving in thing would work unless the characters were already mentioned in the game (like Aja)... :

That sounds good. :3 I think the town that we come up with will be the ghost town, mineral town will be having an election because thomas retired (and married ellen!!...and they had apple pie at the wedding. XDD), and f-m-n valley is getting poorer (Romana is trying to sell chunks of her house. XDD).
oh, i'm excited.

i call him james....i think always. lol
i think that we should be able to choose which we start in....or -- hold on. list out the people who would move into f-m-n valley and mineral town. I'm thinking just a few for each.
Forget-Me-Not Valley Rival farmer? (opposite gender to marry the rival of your wife? i always feel bad for the guy who doesn't get married...except rick. i hate rick.) Nina's child(ren) (to take care of Galen once Nina dies sad )
Mineral Town Aja Cliff's family? (father, mother, and...didn't he have a sister?)
I don't know who else.

Good talking to you!! hm yeah, we still have alot of work for the guild town so its probably best to wait for it...(we have to name it after a plant btw lol) anyway i can ask some people...you have to make one town first anyway..regardless of whether you can choose.. xp i have to go too, i wont be on until tomorrow. it was nice talking to you aswell smile

This might be a little late but I think the new HM games that are coming out (specifically The Island one for DS) have you building the town from scratch and you have to attract people to it, so I think having to get people to stay would be interesting and something not done before (though a little similar to Save the Homeland). Also, just as a side question, in the original storyline I was reading over in the other topic it was suggested that you start out actually helping your grandpa and working on his farm as a 'kid' and then when he passed away you take over the farm like that. Would that maybe work for providing a reason why the main character would want to keep the town together because it's where his childhood memories took place? Just a thought. ^^

In regards to storyline I don't think so- just the starting young thing seemed important. Oh, and it was suggested that if you pick a male character you would have a female twin which is the female character you did not pick (and vice versa if you picked the female). If we did this it could work out nicely with one twin running a farm in one town, you running it in another, and your grandpa (if we decide not to have him pass on but become too old to run all three farms) running the last. Then when you talk to them you can 'trade' farms and ask them to work at the other one while you work on that one. So basically you would be the boss of the three farms but at the same time have counterparts to 'take care of' (within the systems capabilities) the other farms. So, what do you think?

Oh, and your twin can marry the rival for whomever you married (so if you married Popuri she your twin would marry Kai) so that none of the bachelors get left out. ^^
That was another suggestion mentioned in relation to a rival farmer- this way though the rival farmer can still be a suitor (though I don't want the game to end if you choose to marry him/her).
