Konoha, caught off gaurd by Path's sudden cry, stumbled backwards and barely remained on her feet. She backed further at the mountian lion's attack and lost her balance. She landed with a neigh and laid there untill the creature lay dead. If she would have been alone the cat surely would have defeated her. After a few minutes she stood with a grunt, the injury worse. She could barely rest her hoof on the ground. She didn't respond to Path, she just stood with her ears back, injured foot off the ground and trembling slightly. She was scared and shocked at the sudden attack, not to mention the fresh crop of pain.

Colonel Cunningham walked out of his house and put his hat on. He looked out at the fort. Horses were tied here and there, some under a tree others at the hitching rail and a few romed free in the stables and pen. He spotted Jaden with her father watching the horses. All around the fort his men were emerging for lunch and checking saddles. Destiny nickered at him as one of his men checked her saddle. He looked her direction before walking over to Jaden. "Are you ready to ride? We need a dozen more horses, or we go on another round-up tomorrow."

Colonel Cuningham nodded to Jaden and mounted Destiny.The others took up his cue and mounted their horses. With in a matter of minutes a group of horses and riders were gathered in a circle around him. A few had trianed bait mustangs on lead ropes behind them. The bait mustangs would be set loose and they would help lead the wild horses to the corall while the riders herded them from behind. "Alright men, and Jaden, we need a dozen more horses. They need to be in good shape, we have to train theses horses in only a few months. Follow me and release the mustangs on my cue. Jaden you ride up here with me."

"Yes Colonel" said Jaden while bringing up the rear and took the four horses the Colonel was talking about and after a strong struggle she had the horses undercontrol.

The company rode in silence untill a small herd of horses came into view. The herd lifted their heads and looked at the on comming ridders. With a snort the stallion sent the herd running. Colonel Cunningham motioned for Jaden to let the bait mustangs go and at the same time held up a hand to signal that his men were to stay behind him. The herd was running away from them at a gallop. While Colonel held his men at a slow canter, waiting for the moment the bait mustangs turned the herd back towards the corals.

"Right," Konoha had already started walking and was a few paces in front of Path. "Come on slow poke." She flicked her tail and continued walking, before catching both the scent and sound of running horses. She picked up her pace as much as she could which only made the limp more visible. Along with the horses scent came that same strange scent that they were trying to figure out.

Path sped up slightly to trot alongside Konoha though slightly ahead of her. You could tell by just looking at him that he had Clydesdale in him. His coat twitched shaking away the pesky flies.

"Oh sorry"Path snorted. He hoped the young stallion he had left in charge was doing okay. He was interested in finding out what that strange smell was.
