Josh transitioned through many facades at that moment. He placed the plush cotton candy pink teddy bear into the metallic embrace of the chair with the loving hands of a mother, then his legs picked up speed as Josh paced harshly around the petite and frail toy as if he was playing a game of good cop bad cop with the cuddly plaything. Josh’s shoes clipped and clopped in the rhythm of a rapid two step as he circled the piercing chair like a hungry shark intent on getting its next meal. After the boy had made roughly five orbits around the chair with his scuffled ballet, he grasped a blue magic marker with one lithe hands and the teddy’s ear in another. His eyes stared intently at the furry appendage as calculations seemed to dance across Josh’s face. The boy was pondering the toy like a painter absorbed into his canvas. At last, he placed twin dots upon the blush hued fabric and gave one last check to see that they were in perfect alignment. Josh reached for the piercing gun with an thrilled smile contorting on his lips. He handled the device with the utmost tenderness as if it was not merely an instrument of torment but a beloved friend or child. He cleaned and prepped the metallic apparatus meticulously; every so often he shot the bear a gaze of pure morbid enjoyment. The boy inched the gun closer to the bear taking delight in the fact that he was not seeing the bear before his auburn eyes but the frightened form of Cameron instead. The gun hooked securely on a fuzzy pink ear and time seemed to crawl by as Josh drew out the toy’s torment.

“….. CLICK!”
The metallic clank of the gun echoed through the back room and shatter the unnerving silence in the room. Josh took up the gun and repeated his procedures with equaled scrupulousness. “………… CLICK!” Another jagged noise and the deed was done. Josh gave an appreciating sigh and threw up his arms in victory, the amends of Cameron were realized! He left the chair and allowed Natasha and Devin to gawk at his handy work.

Devin’s face was drawn up in a tight frown. He wasn’t sure whether he should be elated the boy had finished the task or daunted that he had taken so much pleasure in the endeavor. The symmetrically striped man felt that they had given a helping hand in breading a monster. “Good job?” His voice was tied up stringently with bewilderment as he shot a glance at Natasha for help.

Unlike Devin, Natasha expressed her disdain openly. Her shoulders and arms seemed tenser than before and her eyes also possessed a silent fuming. “Whatever,” she spat harshly as she turned her frustration towards the cowering Namini. “You’re up.” Natasha’s growl left her face so darkened by disappointment and agitation that, for a brief moment, Namini felt her legs stiffen and refuse to move. But as merciless steel eyes met innocent skies, Namini slowly began to regain control and proceeded towards the chair, her rose-colored plush of a victim in her pathetic grip.

To be honest, Namini had watched Josh perform in kind of a daze. Zoned out, she had found herself asking numerous questions again, to which they would remain unanswered, and only came to when the metallic ‘Click!’s rang through her ears. But by then, it was too late to pick up any key points in his performance. The deed was done.

So now here she was, placing her cuddly companion in this torture seat, preparing herself for the kill. As if a mother bidding her child an eternal goodbye, Namini was determined to make sure her bear-friend was comfortable, much to the disgust of Natasha.

“Get your a** moving,” the older woman hissed, the growing level of irritation obvious in her voice.

Namini felt beads of sweat slide down her face as she nodded obediently and glanced over at the equipment tray. Wh..What was this? With the few instructions Namini had managed to pick up from Natasha fleeing her mind, Namini’s curiosity took over as she picked up strange tools that appeared to twist something or burn something. W..which ones were for piercing?! All she could remember was the gun but she was sure something came before the piercing part. What was it? Picking up a long needle, Namini wondered, Do I pierce a hole with this first? No, that seemed a little painful, plus it would probably cause some kind of infection or—The alcohol! Taking the small bottle of alcohol on the table, Namini carefully applied some to the bear’s cloth ear and then set the alcohol back on the table. At this, Natasha frowned but said nothing.

“Now I…” Namini’s voice died off as she traveled back into her thoughts. Glancing over her equipment, she tried to imagine Josh and his methods but came up with nothing. With nothing to lose, she hesitatingly picked up the gun and held it shakily to the bear’s ear.

“I’m sorry,”
she whispered as she shut her eyes and felt the pressure of the gun run up her fingers then to her elbows. Opening her eyes, she saw that she had actually gotten the earring in. Sighing, she repeated this strategy with the other ear. Once the task was done, she turned on her stool and looked pathetically at Natasha and Devin. “Was this okay?”

By the redness in Natasha’s face, one would think not.

Josh flashed Natasha a mocking grin which said “you-know-I-did-well-and-you-have-nothing-to-say-huh?” The boy found it fascinating to see that even the engaging harpy could get ruffled at times. Her darkened and abysmal expression contrasted perfectly with the radiant glow Josh held at the moment. He strutted next to Namini’s side and gleamed the same luminous smile at her. This time he whispered a few endearing words as well hoping to soothe her nerves, “Good luck.”

Josh watched Namini and his jubilant expression seemed to falter as each mistake she made seemed to weight down on the boy‘s mood. It was obvious that the usually fervent girl was finding the violence of her current task unbearable. Whenever she would pick up a needle or band-Aid the boy would find himself mentally screaming what the proper procedure was. Josh could read the confusion and fear in her pallid and perspiring features and knew that the girl’s fate was sealed.

“Remember also to keep both eyes open…”

Josh let out a sharp hiss of air when her needle punctured the plush of the bear; he took notice that Namini’s eyes were screwed shut almost with a wounded expression as if she was getting he teeth pulled. This would not bode well for the girl at all…

Devin’s face melted from the distress of before and remolded itself into a carnal veneer. When Namini was finished and laid down the gun with her last shaky and hesitant movements the towering man approached her like a rolling mountain. “Well-well, I think you did so badly it would be easier to mention what you did right little girly,” he bellowed sardonically, “I believe we can all agree that Mister Sadism over there is the winner.”

Josh sputtered a bit at his new title.

Namini’s expression changed from absolute nausea to that of surprise. She knew she did poorly, but she immediately realized what this meant. A tie breaker. Standing up so suddenly she almost toppled over, Namini gapped and attempted to vocalize her fearful predictions when the dangerous shadow of Natasha loomed overhead. The woman was…terrifying. Shaking she had pushed Devin violently aside and grabbed Namini’s shoulder, throwing her back down into the seat. With a predictable but rare side of her out in the open, Natasha broke out into a criticizing rant as she grabbed the bear and began performing the piercing procedures, maybe two inches from Namini’s eyes.

“What the ******** is wrong with you!? I told you to ******** draw the marks on the ears, USE A GOD DAMN MIRROR. Sanitize the GUN, not just the effing ears! God, who knows what’s on that stupid needle! PLUS, PLUS, fuuuucck, you closed your eyes. WHAT KIND OF IDIOT ARE YOU?”

Namini bit her lower lip in fear though again her mind was wandering. A regular person would have lost their voice or become hoarse from screaming so much and so loudly though it seemed Natasha had experience with this kind of vocalization. Namini began to wonder if Natasha was a two faced person or not… But that’s when two warm drops of water hit Namini’s cold hands and the teen looked down to see that she was crying. Raising her head back up, she met Natasha’s harsh gaze, but before she could even utter an explanation for her tears, Natasha sighed and threw a handkerchief in her face, which she had pulled from her back pocket.

“Stop crying,”
she ordered coldly, though Namini hinted at some warmth in her voice. The white haired woman then threw the bear back into the seat and, apparently calmer, turned to Devin.

“Yeah, whatever. He won. It's a tie breaker. Devin, you tell them what the next round is. I’m tired.”
Reaching into her pocket and pulling out a stick of gum, Natasha threw the tangerine orange strip into her mouth and chewed contently.

Devin was taken aback as his heavy frame was sent off balance and careened towards a tray of needles and gauze. The pointed instruments loomed bellow him and seemed to sparkle with malicious enthusiasm as if they looked forward to the contact of his tanned skin. The bulky man’s voice cracked into a squeak as he tumbled down, “EEP!” Josh frantic eyes locked on the scene and time seemed to slow down before him. He lunged helplessly at Devin in an attempt to halt his fall; he only succeeded in pushing the sizeable man off his course with the bed of needles and they instead fell to the side in a heap of limbs and nerves. Josh peeked out from his position twisted under the substantial muscles of Devin’s arms. He gasped for the breath which he lost somewhere between the point where his adrenaline had sucked the air from him and when he had slammed into the tile floor. “owwww…” he moaned feebly. Natasha’s raucous screaming seemed to produce a blunt throbbing in the boy’s head as he felt the aching front of a headache forming. His expression softened when he heard the subtle sniffles erupting from Namini’s lips. He mouthed at her tenderly: “It’s okay”.

The “horned” man hastily untangled himself from their awkward position and lifted himself from the ground; he spared no time to help the interviewee up. He gave a few sweeps over his garment to extricate any dust which had settled on him. The man made sure to avoid Natasha’s acerbic gaze; he knew to avoid her when she grew this frustrated. Devin cleared his throat hoarsely and began, “Well, in the next challenge you will be putting you new skills to use,” his crimson orbs locked with Namini’s cerulean pools and he gave a contemptuous laugh, “You will give each other one cartilage piercing.”

Josh was busily extracting himself from the ground and he had almost missed what Devin had said. However, the recognition that the fate of his ear was in the hands of Namini seized him. He felt as if someone had just throttled him in the stomach. Once again, the breath was beat out of him and he could only let out a mangled squeak of horror, “Eh!”

Natasha crossed her arms as her rage slowly disappeared from her face and hands, a hard stare locked onto Namini. She still yearned to squeeze the young girl's ignorance and stupidity out of every pore in her tiny frame, but, having vocalized and physically expressed her conniption, control was settling back into her muscles. Completing the process with a light sigh, Natasha fully recouped her cool composure, finishing it off by smirking wickedly at Namini. Devin had just finished his explanations and, shifting her attention before her anger could return, Natasha let out a surprisingly sweet laugh at Josh's expression. It was surprising in the sense that ...Natasha seemed highly incapable of producing such a kind and attractive laugh and yet, she did, though at Josh's expense. He looked as if someone had just slapped him across the face: unconditional horror. How silly!

Stepping up to rejoin Devin at his side, Natasha then picked up the piercing gun once again and clicked it a few times, her love for dramatic effect reaching a never-before climax. She turned to Josh and asked mockingly, "Where's your enthusiasm now?" Popping another annoying bubble, she turned her glance back to Namini momentarily before tossing the frightened teen the gun in her hand. Namini gawked at it for a moment before feeling that same wave of nausea sweep over her.

"I can't possibly--"
"So you don't want the job?"

Silence. Namini tightened her grip on the gun and stood out of the chair, though her knees were exposing her terror. Flickering her blue eyes at Josh, they seemed to say "I'm sorry" as she peeped, "Wh-what should I do?"

Natasha stared at her with disgust but continued anyways. Now she was determined to fail her. Reaching into a nearby drawer, the Snow Queen pulled out another glistening gun and tossed it to Josh. Namini's eyes narrowed in suspicion as she examined the gun in Josh's hands, before returning her attention to Natasha. Smiling lovingly, Natasha purred, "By the way. You'll be piercing each other at the same time."

Namini nearly fainted!!

"Where's your enthusiasm now?"

A war was raging inside Josh. His ego could not forgive a feeble action such as giving up a job in order to save something as “insignificant” as an ear. However, the boy’s more intelligent side was against the whole notion of sacrificing any part of his body to the piercing heathen otherwise known as Namini. The conflict raged and bubbled within him; it twisted and knotted his stomach until breathing caused discomfort. His face smoldered with agony as his mind wallowed over the decision.

Then suddenly clarity came to josh in one inspiring instant, or more when a glossy emerald piercing gun was throw into his face. His intelligent side proved smaller than expected and the testosterone flowing through his veins screamed in protest of declining a challenge. Josh growled out in a huff of emotion, “Of course, I’ll complete this challenge. It’s just a measly needle.” Alas, if anyone were to look at the boy’s legs they would see him softly quaking in his hibiscus board shorts.

Devin guffawed at the boy’s pathetic show of masculinity, but he had to condone Josh for putting so much faith in the squeamish girl next to him. He crossed his arms and grinned wolfishly, “You can start by praying that you won’t take off this kid’s ear.” Josh gulped, perhaps his decision as a bit hasty.

Natasha tilted her head slightly upwards and sneered at Josh's repititious confidence, "Devin's got a point. A bobby pin in this girl's hands could be turned into a weapon of mass destruction, so just think what she could do with a piercing gun." She ended her mockery with a lighthearted giggle before turning to the overwhelmed brunette beside her. Closing in on her, Natasha made sure to lock their eyes and refuse to back down, though Namini was barely putting up any resistance. Moving closer and closer to her, Natasha finally watched as the nervous wreck unknowingly fell into the leather chair once again. Leaving the group momentarily, she returned with a similar green chair and ,placing it on the ground a few feet away from Namini's, kicked it until it was parallel to the other's. Satisfied, she motioned to Josh with a looming finger and then patted the back of his chair softly. "Come on. I won't bite," she teased. "But she will."

Namini felt her face redden as she dropped her attention to the gun laying in her lap. Stroking the intimidating metal cautiously, she closed her eyes tightly and let out a heavy sigh. She had to focus, otherwise she could seriously hurt someone! Glancing over Josh's features carefully, Namini stopped upon his unmarked ear and felt a pang of regret hit her chest. If she hurt him...Oh she'd never live it down. Attempting a smile though, she tried to calm her companion before herself, "I will try my best."

Josh hobbled over to the chair on shaking limbs. His legs gave out and he plopped into the seat with an apprehensive ‘plunk’. The boy also held the sleek gun in twitching fingers and peeped up at Namini with a look of devastation glittering in his auburn orbs. He could also see the tension weighing down her movements; this would not prove successful if she kept up this act of petrified uselessness. Josh gently patted the tired leather next to him, which made a whine worn down from years of use, and he spoke up in the most tranquil tone he could muster, “It’s alright, just be calm chickie. You’ll do fine.” The boy would prefer Namini to be in a more unruffled composure; it lessened the chance of him going half death. Josh leaned in closely to Namini, almost half his svelte body fell gracefully over the hard armrest, and he presented his left ear to the girl almost tenderly, "I know you can do it!"

Namini felt the trembling in her hands subside as she took Josh's words into consideration. It seemed as if he was calmer, so she should attempt to quiet her nerves as well. Hesitatingly raising the gun, Namini reached over to the table beside her and meticulously remembering the details Natasha had scolded her for, began to santize her gun and then Josh's ear. It seemed the moment she had regained confidence in her abilities, Namini's mind had immediately produced all the correct instructions. After sanitizing the gun and Josh's ear, she reached over for a small pink marker and, leaning in quite intimately, she examined the ear carefully and then made a miniscule notch for the cartilage piercing. Luckily, they were only performing one piercing each and so, Namini held a mirror to Josh's face and smiling, chirped pleasantly, "Look good to you?"

Natasha watched with a growing interest though kept it to herself. A frown had etched its way onto the side of her mouth and she blew another aggravated bubble. This girl...She just kept bouncing back, and at the perfect moments. Natasha seemed to hate her.

Josh felt himself jump out of his skin when the tip of the magenta-pink market kissed at the skin of his upper ear leaving a faint ink dot. The felt tip managed to end a chill up Josh’s spine, which he tried to hide from the imposing girl across from him. He felt a wave of color darken his cheeks as she pressed closer to him. When she asked the boy about the location of the piecing he nodded vigorously, “Awesome!” Josh flashed a rather toothy grin at the empowered girl. However, he was still concerned of their growing proximity. Josh proceeded with the same monotonous series of movements he had preformed on the plush bear; he also held the same rigid composure like he had with the bear. Although he had some trouble, considering Namini different much in shape and size compared to a child's plaything, Josh was able to perform the drilled procedure relatively well. With a final flick of a royal blue pen, he held up a mirror to her as well, "Is it nice?"

Namini used a free hand to graze her ear thoughtfully, before nodding. "It looks fine," she sang, though hesitation still lingered in her voice. Namini put down her equipment for a moment concernedly as she leaned in closer, and pretending to examine his ear once again, she breathed nervously onto Josh's neck, "Are you sure you want to do this?"

Retreating from their intimacy, Namini lifted the mirror once again and using the procedure to cover up her worry, she asked, "You positive you want it there?" Her eyes searched Josh's face frantically for an answer as she fabricated a carefree grin onto her lips.

Josh shivered as a breath ghosted over his neck and Namini’s gentle words danced little circles by his ear. It would have been a heartwarming gesture to most, but this particular boy was on the last edges of his nerves. Even though he was an emotional wreck, the boy wanted the deed to be done rather than worry about ‘what could happen’ or ‘what they should have done’. “I’m ready…” He brought the lustrous jade gun up to Namini’s ear and held off waiting for the girl’s command. Josh also waited breathlessly for Namini’s own gun to clamp over his ear with a sickening snap and have the endeavor complete.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 28, 2008 10:01 pm

Namini watched intently as Josh's features grew tired yet relaxed. Leting out a comforting breath, the young girl lifted the gun to Josh's ear, and making sure the earring was carefully intact and firmly placed, allowed it to clamp onto the other's ear. As his own metal made contact with her over-sensitive skin, Namini felt her stomach fold and twist and contort in attempt to calm herself. One last heavy, shaky sigh, and Namini laughed blithely, "I'm ready as well. On the count of three, kay? One....two...three!"

The last number came out more assertive than Namini herself had expected, almost like a command. With eyes fixed upon the pink dot on Josh's ear, Namini winced but refused to close her eyes as a soft, stomach-turning snap echoed throughout her ears and she felt the gun's recoil vibrate in her forearms. After the deed was done, Namini shut her eyes as she waited for Josh's turn.

Josh felt a sting of pain jolt in his ear and it soon erupted into a dull throbbing. At that instant, the boy focused intensely on the blue dot beckoning on Namini’s ear and pulled the trigger on his own gun. He ignored the fact that his vision was being blurred softly at the edges by unshed tears and kept his taut gaze affixed on the hazy mark.

“SNAP!!!”
A matte star dug into the girl’s ear and stood proudly fastened into her flesh; like a banner of Namini’s bravery. He reached up to his own ear and noticed a drop of blood or two seep out. To Josh’s amazement, nothing else seemed to be out of order. All appendages were intact, he was not leaking any bodily fluids, and he still was breathing; overall, it had not been a scarring experience. “Yours looks great!”
