Siin Adonai For this subject, I was turned off by the words. They were too blunt, too self explanatory. I guess I am the only person who likes them, so I will take this opportunity to explain; I am really sort of sick of people saying 'Art is Love' like it means something. Art is whatever it wants to be, including but not limited to love, hate, sadness, loneliness, desperation, celebration, commemoration, communication, decoration... Perhaps I create because I hate what exists and need to replace it. Perhaps I draw a picture to spite the page. Anyhow, I was inspired to this image by my distaste for the phrase 'Art is Love'. I suppose that is not something I can expect other people to share in.

That makes sense, totally. Art is whatever it wants to be, whatever the viewer sees it as.

I like the 1930s poster style of Dr's but imo hansma's has more social context with more powerful symbolism.
Also the fact that it makes you dislike the suited guy for white washing the graffiti came across as sarcasm to me not a mixed meaning.

Also it's bad form imo to respond to criticism by belittling it (especially if you didn't understand it) or defending your art by attacking some one else's.

First, the scan isn't showing the mixed media properly. I made it for a one-day gallery show, not really thinking about how I was going to show it online. I was focusing far more on my piece for The Blank Show (which were due at the same time). It all came down to priorities. I deemed this not as important.
I took a more conceptualized approach to the subject. In this dystopic society art is a crime and this is showing how people appreciate the blank wall over the mural being painted over (or at least the middle class as I showed with the example). He is gazing at the white wash as opposed to the childrens' mural a few feet to his right. He isn't necessarily the one doing the painting, in fact his umbrella suggests that he is just a passer-by. The person doing this work is on break, or simply not in the scene. Both he and the can of paint are cut-outs of watercolor paper because rejecting art is like taking a dimension of your person away, leaving you only 2D. The paint in this situation is a tool of that, so it is also 2D.
This piece was an experiment in different materials and styles for me. It is not a portfolio piece, but it was a learning experience and that is just as valuable.

Internet community without the self obsessed drama llama squabbling is..... errm great?? I found out that in Spain llama is pronounced yama and also means flaming. So yama yama is a flaming llama. How brilliant is language?

I personally like both.
The first one is more an illustration you'd see in a magazine, the second a poster for an art jam or some sort. However, both fell flat on the execution. The second does not make much sense with the wording, and compositionally it isn't all that exciting. The first one doesn't relate to propaganda very well; why not collage old WW1-2 posters that are getting painted over? White, the colour of surrender, doesn't really fit either for being "anti". Maybe use a very whiteish yellow (the colour of the ribbons tied up for the soldiers coming home?). By doing that, you could make it much more meaningful.

In my community, art battles are not seen as a negative thing whatsoever. I'm sorry your took it that way.
