If anything, Anoki was less understandable now. "No. N-no, he c-can't, fly or- I d-don't, can't... n-no." Shaking his head violently, he practically plunged out the window, trying to grab any part of his dragon that he could reach, without falling out himself. If he had to hold onto the branch too, it would surely fall.
As soon as Damaris' hands appeared, Myung-Ki tried to shift his weight so that he could reach. Then Anoki grabbed onto one of his wings- something that hurt, a lot. For a moment pain blinded him, but then he saw her hands again and practically threw himself over, forgetting to mind his claws. Who could care about that when he was close to tumbling to the ground?

"Ouch!" Damaris squeeled with a cringe as Myung-Ki's claws dug into her forearms. "A-Anoki, help me get Myung-Ki in." She said wincing but not letting go of the dragon. She tried to haul Myung-Ki in on her own but she was not big enough, she needed help to get him back through the window.

"I'm tr-trying!" Anoki shouted, not so much out of any anger or frustration, but out of fear. As annoying and troublesome and selfish as Myung-Ki could be, he was still his dragon. They were friends. Moreover, Myung-Ki was his responsibility. D-Corp trusted him to take care of his dragon, and he wasn't going to let them, or Myung-Ki, or- or himself, down.
With one final pull, he yanked the Red off the branch, pulling him close enough to grab onto the window frame with his claws.
Freedom! Not wasting any more time, he crawled over Anoki's back and into the window, collapsing in a splayed heap on the floor of the hallway. Ground, sweet, sweet ground.
Feeling as though a burden had been lifted from him- literally- Anoki leaned against the window exhaustedly. That was hard, but they did it, didn't they? "We d-did it, Damaris! We did it!"
From behind him, a cold voice hmphed. "And what is it that you did, Anoki Kenelm?" Raven asked, arms folded around a sheaf of papers. She did not look happy, but then, that was nothing new. "You don't appear to be working, so I would appreciate an explanation."

Damaris was relieved as well when they had managed to pull Myung-Ki from the frail tree when the woman had aproached them. Damaris looked her up and down and assuming from the inquisitive questions she asked Anoki she deducted that this was Anoki's mother.
Not realizing Raven's personalities and demands of Anoki she gladly spoke up to explain the situation, "Hiya miss! My daddy is late picking me up today, and Anoki said he'd play with me to keep me company. So we were playing hide and go seek!" She said with a very happy smile having so far had a good time as well as an adventure, "Myung-Ki found a real good hiding spot! But we had to help him out of it, and we just did it!" Damaris said looking victorous and feeling as though she had given an adequate and accurate explanation.

Anoki froze when he was addressed, only turning around when Raven had finished speaking and was waiting for an answer. Even then he hesitated momentarily, wondering how to explain. She wouldn't like hearing about the game of hide and seek, since he was supposed to be studying, but he couldn't figure out what to tell her.
Unfortunately, before he could think up a suitable answer, Damaris replied for him.
Raven's expression hadn't exactly been kind either, but it was at least polite. Now all cordiality drained from it. "I see," she said, her voice so frosty one could nearly see ice forming as she spoke. "You have not been doing what I had instructed you to do, Anoki Kenelm."
Unable to deny this, Anoki just looked away. "I-"
"Not only that, but from appearances, you allowed your dragon to put himself into danger. We will discuss this in detail later, but for the time being, you may consider yourself grounded until further notice." Meaning she didn't really care, but had to punish him anyway. Then she turned her attention to Damaris, frowning. "As for you, young lady, you are not under my instruction yet so I am not able to discipline you. For the time being, I would appreciate if if you did not distract Anoki Kenelm from his work." Meaning that while Anoki would be punished, if asked, she would place the blame on this nameless third party. "That is all."

Damaris' bubbley and cheery expression quickly changed to that is injustice and outrage, "He did already study I saw him do it! He was working real hard on it too, and it's not his fault Myung-Ki found that hiding spot!" Damaris snapped back at the lady quickly taking the defensive.
"Anoki was being nice and having fun after he read from his book! You should be happy for him! He had fun, and Myung-Ki didn't get hurt, and none of it was Anoki's fault, you shouldn't punish him!" Damaris said a fire in her eyes, so to say. She perhaps did not know exactly who she was argueing with other than she was Anoki's mother but she was not going to let her new friend be so un-justly accused.

A spark of interest flared in Raven, but it fizzled as quickly as it ignited. "Since you seem to be so concerned with Anoki Kenelm's welfare, I'm sure that you'll see to it that he keeps up in his classes then, miss. You'll make sure that he completes all his assigned work, as well as the extra work assigned by myself to make sure he doesn't fall behind. You will keep up with your own work during this same time, of course- one can't fall behind while attempting to help another. And should any other 'mishaps' such as this occur, you will be responsible for making sure any injuries are taken care of and proper accident reports are filed. Am I forgetting anything? Oh yes, your precious playtime. Well, I'm sure you'll fit that in where you can."
At this point, Anoki just wanted to disappear. He was finally making a new friend, and now Mama Ray was blowing everything out of proportion again. He'd be lucky if Damaris would even speak to him after all of this. It didn't help his self-esteem much that Raven was speaking about him like he was a little kid. He was older than Damaris, after all! He could take care of himself!
Having finally caught his breath, Myung-Ki pulled himself into a sitting position and surveyed the scene. He decided that he liked this lizard girl, seeing as she helped save him from certain doom and such. But his human's caretaker had shown up, and Myung-Ki was never fond of her. She was always taking his shinies. If it came to blows, the young dragon knew which side he would take.

"Fine! I will! He can come over to my house and study all he wants! And he'll be so good at it that we'll have tons of playtime left afterwards!" Damaris said still in the heat of the moment. "But then you don't have to punish Anoki now because you know that it isn't his fault. So I'll make sure he reads his books and does his work and that he has play time afterwards." Damaris said with a nod completely over confident and really having no idea what filing reports was but she was determined that she could do it. Besides, Anoki wasn't saying anything about his mothers injustice, so some one had to.

So this one had some spine, it seemed. Raven almost admired it, but at the same time was determined to get the better of it. "I can see you already see yourself as an adult, miss..." Pausing, she glanced at her files, which included a student roster. "Miss Javier. Tell me then, what makes you so special? So qualified? And if you are indeed as capable as you say, perhaps I should simply leave Anoki Kenelm and his dragon in your capable hands."
That did it, Anoki just couldn't take anymore. He couldn't take the being talked down to, and he couldn't take the way Raven was twisting Damaris' words- everyone's words, now that he thought about it. "P-please stop," he said sharply, his words not directed at anyone in particular. Then he turned to Raven and bowed his head in apology. "It was m-my fault. I asked h-her to pl-play. I w-won't do it again, s-so can we g-go now?"
So maybe that wouldn't solve anything. It was still the easiest way to make Raven stop harassing his friends, and just focus on him.
Raven raised an eyebrow, but otherwise didn't move. "Perhaps. It depends on what Miss Javier has to say."

"But!...Anoki, it's not your fault..." Damaris said sounding confused and a little guilty feeling like she did something wrong the way Anoki was acting. "It wasn't your fault..."
She then turned her attention at Raven again having been taught enough manners to not just ignore some one when she was asked a question, "I don't think I'm an adult, I just know I can help Anoki because that's what friends do, is help each other." Damaris said with a little snap, "Why would you want to give him away? He is your son right? Don't you love him?" She said not trying to be snotty but just seeing a genuine point she wanted to adress.

"Yes it w-was," Anoki insisted, trying to signal Damaris to stop arguing. Didn't she know that there wasn't a way to win when you argued with Mama Ray? He did, and he didn't want his new friend to be on the punishing end. "Sh-she just doesn't want me to get in tr-trouble, but-"
"I can see that," Raven snapped. Now Anoki was arguing, which was something she was unaccustomed to. "However, Miss Javier has proven capable of speaking for herself, even if some of her facts are incorrect." Then she turned back to Damaris, her attitude subtly shifting from an annoyed adult to a self-assured teacher. "Since you seem so curious, I have no problem informing you that Anoki Kenelm is not my son. He was placed in my care as part of my contract with D-Corp, and in that respect, can be considered an aspect of my job. Nothing more."
That shut Anoki up, at least for the moment. He knew that he was only with Raven because of her job as a teacher, and that she wasn't really fond of kids. But she'd never stated so bluntly how little she cared for him before. Surprisingly, hearing it like that was as painful as a slap in the face, and Anoki would have almost preferred the physical pain to what he was feeling now.

Damaris was completely suprised by Raven's response. She stood there and gaped at her for a few moments before speaking again, "You're a liar..." Damaris said looking as if Raven had just been speaking in a different language.
"You're a liar. You had Anoki since he was little right? And you helped him grow up, you ARE his mother...You have to care...if you didn't why would you want him to do so good with his work? You just said that he's your job, but then why do you give him extra work? Why do you care about that if you don't care about him?" Damaris said getting fired up. She couldn't believe what Raven had just said.

While Anoki appreciated Damaris' attempts to convince Raven otherwise, he knew they weren't going to work. He had to work, because if he didn't she would look bad. And she didn't care. She didn't even pretend to, really. Mahou did an okay job, but with Mama Ray... why hadn't he seen this sooner?
Raven's eyes narrowed further. "While I admit parts of this discussion have proven amusing, I will not tolerate being called a liar by a rash, careless child. This conversation is over, young lady. I would be within my rights as a D-Corp employee to discipline you myself, or at least to meet with your guardian to discuss it. However, if you leave now and stay away from Anoki Kenelm- and myself, wherever possible- I will not press the issue."
That, for Raven, was generosity. But something inside her head felt odd, uncomfotable. Maybe this little girl was bringing up too many personal points.

"Anoki is my friend...I'm not going to stay away from him." Damaris said with a hmph.
"And you're still wrong..." Damaris said under her breath. Whether or not she liked Raven very much or not right now she refused to believe that she had no maternal feelings for Anoki what so ever. She felt bad for Anoki, she couldn't imagine AJ saying something like that, she was dumbfounded and honestly just thought that Raven liked to fib.

"Then I will see you and your guardian in my office... next week, perhaps?" Of course, Raven could easily arrange a meeting sooner than that, but in all honesty she didn't want to deal with this wild child without some good preparation. It wasn't often that someone resisted her so fiercely, and while she had more severe methods of keeping children in line, she was out of practice.
Maybe there was still a chance to keep this from getting out of control. "Sh-she didn't mean anything," Anoki pleaded, trying to pull Raven down the hallway. "I'll w-work harder, I pr-promise. L-let's go."
Barely a second after Anoki touched her, Raven yanked her hand away. "I will deal with you later, Anoki Kenelm. Do not think your part in this has gone unnoticed. I am not pleased."
Was she ever pleased? Anoki pondered this seriously for a moment, then just stopped fighting. Clearly it had gone too far for him to stop it now.
