She isn't having troubles pronouncing her love.

Actually, in CoT she asks Cloud if he loves her, when he wakes up she changes to questions. Granted she was asking CLOUD's love rather than her own I don't think she would have questioned it if they had previously "expressed their feelings for each other through physical intimacy."

Au contraire. It only makes sense for her to question his love if she'd been given reason to think he loved her previously.

Of course the dialogue was mature, they were talking about the end of the world, that isn't exactly light hearted. I can't comment on the whole "risque" statement because frankly I haven't even seen it.

The creators were talking about the "words aren't the only way to express your feeling" dialog. There was no talking of the end of the world in the under the highwind sequence. It was talk of how everyone else had gone to be with their reason to fight, Cloud and Tifa only had each other, how their hearts called out to and heard each other in the lifestream, how Cloud has things he wishes to tell Tifa but cannot express in words, Tifa says that words aren't the only the only way to show what you feel, after a pause, Cloud says simply "Tifa", and we pan and fade, fading back in with the two sharing personal space. THAT is the bit the creators are talking about with the mature dialogue and the risque implications and the version which was much more extreme but now is more subtle. They also mention that that particular scene was handled by a guy who had mostly worked on movies prior, and that scene is chock full of movie tropes about implied physical intimacy.

Now then, my bed calls, as I have been playing too much no more heroes for anyone's good health.

Hm, I believe CloTi is canon too. =3 And you can try attacking me from wherever to try to prove it's not canon to me. As much as I'd really rather be neutral, I can't lie to myself and say I won't always lean to one side. I'm sure my perception isn't the same with the creators but during their interviews, it's pretty obvious they are leaning more on Tifa.

Even if they wanted to be neutral... there will always be a more favored choice. It's like a family, no matter how much parents tell kids they love'em equally.. there will always be a favorite. D:

HUH? o_o Casual sex!? Uhhhhh... I don't have an opinion of this but it was never really mentioned in the game nor is there a chance they would have.. seeing as Tifa would probably never initiate... And I don't think they had sex during the Highwind scene either.. Those weird CloTi fantards...

Actually, I've been pretty adamant about them not having sex too, but most recently, after Ryushikaze's insight on it, I think it's very plausible. One of the threads has his explanation on the whole thing. 3nodding

Actually, both sides are equally guilty in that respect. I've seen both sides create loads of tripe about both pairings to help prove their precious "OTP". It's been going on, and will probably never end, even if Square-Enix were to decide on a single OTP and openly and explicitly state it to the press and fans. Not that they ever will, but you know what I mean.

It isn't just Cleris or Cloti, but technically every pairing in existence that suffers from this. It's unfortunate, but a part of life, nonetheless. I personally do not consider something to be a fact unless I see something that is officially published by Square-Enix (such as the Ultimania books), certain magazine articles (like those from Famitsu, which are more credible than others) with SCANS of the original article. That, and of course, the original game itself.

There are too many folks claiming stuff from "some magazine article" as having actually been said, without identifying the source. It's rather frustrating, because under this guise, anyone could try to pass off anything as true.

Lol, that reminds me of a particular magazine that was bashing Aeris and promoting CloTi. xd Ahem, so yeah, definitely not all magazines are credible.

10th Anniv Ultimania. Introduction. Interview with Nomura, Nojima, and Kitase. Page 10 IIRC.The tail end of that section, anyways.

Now that's what I'm looking for. smile Too many people take things from sources like Ultimania but don't actually, you know, tell you WHERE they found it in the book. xd However, to be more specific, most of my ire is directed at "supposed articles" that carry a heavy bias.

Thank you for taking the time to do that, though. biggrin

Actually in cinematic terms they executed an implied sex scene PERFECTLY. It's not a technique that is used often with movies anymore but in a video game from 1997 when for an American market sex of ANY kind in a GAME was just over the line (especially considering they wanted to shoot for a Teen ERSB rating).

Seriously you have to look to the whole *fades to black* move that they execute after Tifa even goes so far as to say, "There's more than one way to say how you feel about someone Cloud."

I'm sorry but that screams to me that they made love (so whoever smoked the crack and said they had casual sex I think is on something). Even the way (yes this is stretching the limits with the graphics) she looks over her shoulder at him when she says that there's more than one way. Hell that's risque to me. That's mature as well.

Kefka you just proved you have no business arguing over this because yourself said "I haven't seen it". To me that's say, "LOL I DIDNT FINISH TEH GAM BUT ITZ COOL CUZ I SUND SMAERT"

She was referring to the Ultimania, in which the scene is described thusly when she said she hadn't seen it, not to the Under Highwind Scene. Also, there's no need for that much snark here. There are times and places when it is needed, but the here and now is not one of either.

Sorry. Letting problems in my other guild build up on me. XP

But I suppose I do make a fair bit of sense in what I wrote correct?

"All that we see or seem, Is but a dream within a dream."

LOL, you made some very interesting points that I think we've already thought about, but in our own way debunked due to how they act afterwards. ((Though, with what Ryu and now what you have just said, I think it's more and more plausible). BTW, don't insult Kefka like that, or I might have to go all "b***h WANNA FIGHT" on you. ;D

She knows a ton about the game, and has played it.

Sorry once again...XP

Its been a REALLY stressful week for me. I've been lashing out at almost everyone.

And yeah I posted that and didn't realize someone had already posted what I said. XD My bad there.

Haha, when I first played the game, I never thought that scene implied anything risque. Haha, funny how the Ryu and fishsama, both guys by the way, see it as obvious while us girls are like, "nuh uh!"
PostPosted: Sat Apr 05, 2008 9:24 am

Hehe. I'm a girl, and I thought it was obvious. I remember looking at my boyfriend wide-eyed (and we were still kids back then) and said,
"did they?" and he just shrugged. XP
Thanks you boys for adding to this. Whether it was sex, or something else equally intimate, is the only thing I think is in question in this scene. What they did, you can try to have your own interpretation, but you cannot try to make a claim that nothing happened.
I love when Cleris try to tell me it fades to black, and nothing happens. That the fade to black is nothing more than timepassage so we don't have to watch them napping. And then I just say, "Well, Tifa's pretty darn happy about being rejected... odd though that Cloud rejects her after the scene fades to black. Very convient for your argument." XP
