Too many to name at my school but one fun one was a very small kid lifting a very big tuba, using a ladder, that seemed about 5 feet taller than him, to reach it. You can guess the rest. When we found him later that was the most fun. The tuba didn't get hurt at all but he got the wind knocked out of him pretty good.

My sixth grade year we had the coolest show ever! We did this scatter after a song. It looked so cool. Well I was running to my place dureing the scatter. I turnned and saw Adam, our tuba player, crawling off the ground. I heard the story from the BD's wife later. The grass was wet and Adam bit the dust as he turned. A kinda 'had to be there thing.

This dude that no one in the entire school liked, we all (low brass) called him tuba f**, and so did one of the BD's by acedent, but any way he had a busted knee but still tried to march and was marching a horns left, and his knee poped out and he fell face first crying, "MY ACL!!!", along with the huge crash that a tuba makes. so all the low brass were laugfing our asses off, and the BD got on the loud speaker thing and asked if the tuba was ok.

Well, i guess i'll spill about a few accidents my section has had. My freshman year, we got a really nice brass sousaphone, which my section leader got. He wa being a typical showoff and TRYed to do a 360 over a chain that seperated our practice feild and the school. needless to say, the sousaphone no longer looks new, and he needed a few stitches.

This year we have, like, 9 tuba players in my section (i'm the section leader). well, an the way down to the football feild, we do a college style horn swing, which looks great... untill the 5 freshmen we have get to close to each other in line and smack tubas. 3 of them have fiberglass ones, so it wasn't that bad for them.. but the ones with the brass ones were a different story...

RIP Tubby the tuba....

And i've read about a few "ghetto" tuba fixes here, but i think i can beat that. As my BD puts it, a few of our tubas should have been melted down for scrap in WW2. and on EVERY one, we have a roll of Duct tape in each case for repairs... Looks ghetto, yes, but it works!

Me being a freshie, I heard that in previous years, they told our tubas not to dance when the whole band dances.
This one tuba decided to dance, and he just toppled over on the field. O=

And me -coughcoughsneeze- I've fallen off of our standing area wherever we've been.
BUT I'M WORKING ON IT!
I haven't fallen since last basketball game.
xD

I FINALLY MADE ANOTHER AMV! >: DD

i was at a band show on saturday and th hosts had tons of tuba trouble:

When they came on the field, somehow i looked over and the guy DROPPED his tuba- yes it was off his body and he had to pick it up quickly to get to his spot...
then another tuba set his instrument down for a band dance and when he picked it up again his bell came completely off and he marched away from it... we all laughed but it was great. rofl

There was this one time in the stands during a football game, I was setting my sousaphone down, and I sorta almost dropped it and nearly killed a flute player.... sweatdrop

Yay for the ghetto tubas. My section's sousaphones are all REALLY old, so they're all duct taped to a certain extent...

Well, this doesn't have to do with tubas, but we were ahving eighth grader night and senior night/ homecoming on the same night. Well, I have a friedn on clarinet like me at that school and while we were marching the show, apparnetly her clarinet rolled down te aluminum we have under so we don't have crap under our bleachers, it just rolls down the aluminum. So, we retrieved it, split in half, at the bottom. Poor Calrinet, bvut it wasn't mineXD

A tuba blocks my view during preset. I can't see the dM...

Once, I dropped my sousaphone on some one.

I had it sitting at my feet in the stands at a basketball game, and I let go, and it fell on the guy two rows in front of me.

Fortunately, it was the guy that nobody likes.

Also, I hit people in the head. Alot. Never have a tall trumpet player march to the left of a sousaphone.

At our high school the the MB comes out at half time almost every game the "special" tuba comes out and they light the bell on fire the the player'll swing it around and stuff. One lucky guy accidentally flung his tuba and almost caught the whole field on fire. But he didn't and the band even finished the music and stuff... XDXDXD

:O! I wanna tuba that will do that!

Me too! rofl

haha, I hear Illinois State does something like that with flaming sousaphones. :]

Anyway, I might've said this before, but my freshman year, there was an AMAZINGLY AWESOME one. =D

It was a particularly muddy practice, and I forget what they were doing (I didn't march that year), but anyway, somehow Eamon slipped in a giant mud puddle (sousaphone and all), splashed someone, and from what I hear, Cation (the drum captain) dove in and it started this huge mud fight.

Of course, me and like all the other freshmen were in the same bio class that year, right after band, and I'm pretty sure our bio teacher thought we'd gone crazy when everyone came in covered in mud...xDDD

alright, my band director... is kinda a retard.... mean i know, but its true... to avoid embaressment, ill call him Mr.m. Okay so Mr.m ,who used to teach elementary schoolers, decieds to come to florida to teach high schoolers. he decieds that we need to play at football games. we never practiced any formations, and we stand at the top of the bleachers. im not quite used to the wait of the sousaphone, so when we were packing up to leave the first time, i, being the klutz i am , fell down head over heels.... i had about 5 goose eggs on my head, and i split my lip. Mr.m couldn't, for some reason, see why i had fallen, and tried to make me pay for the dameges! my friend the flute came and saved my a**, And then he couldn't figure out why i wouldnt play till my lip healed! i almost quit the band! but after i got mad and blew up at him, he gives me a wide berth =] so it all worked out in the end =].....i can still feel those lumps though...and foot ball seasons over...0
