Moira rolled her eyes in good nature, and glanced up at him. "Yeah, it can't hurt." She smirked, and leaned up, lingering just before the kiss. "But d'you really want it?" And like the imp that she was, she pulled away, both out of the near-kiss and his arms. It was like jumping into cold water, but that was okay! All for the game.
"A good book is always good reason to stay up." She admitted, glancing back sheepishly. Then she looked back at Shane and grinned a little, amused. "So, I propose we both do what we do." She put her hands on her hips, grinning. "I'll read my fairy tales... And you can try to write something." She nodded sagely, and started past him to grab said book.
She glanced back over her shoulder at him. "We could leave the library, if y'like." She said, turning to face him again once she had her treasure in hand. It wouldn't be the first time she curled up in a new place to read, and most certainly not the last. The girl was like a cat sometimes, the way she'd find the most uncomfortable places to read.

Smiling as the bonnie lass in his arms leaned in for a kiss, his heart beat just a little faster as Moi paused and lingered. Hoping she wouldn't pull away as she asked if he really wanted it, he gave a nearly imperceptible nod of his head. Feeling bad for admitting to that much, as it gave him less control in the game. But also really wanting to taste what had been offered before. His head dropped to his chest with an exasperated sigh as the devilish Italian woman weaseled out of his arms, leaving him hanging with desire for his lips to meet hers burning deep.
Trying not to look disappointed as she glanced back at him, he gave a small sigh at her posture and obvious indication there'd be no more kissing tonight. As a gentleman, it shouldn't really bother him, he knew, but...damn! That Italian woman was a devil if he ever had met one! He shouldn't let her see his disappointment, though, that would mean losing the game. Doing his best to place his usual smirk back on his face, he gave a shrug. Cocking an eyebrow at her hands on hips stance, and sorely tempted to grab her and kiss her right then and there.
"Sure, lass. Though I don't think I'll be doing much writing, with a muse torturing me as mine surely will by the end of the night."
Following her over to the chairs once more, Shane started a little as Moira so innocently suggested that they might leave the library. His room wasn't that far, now that she mentioned it. Surely his furniture would be more comfortable and home like than anything the library had to offer. And there'd be no smell of old books and dust floating through the air...It was much more private, too, now that he thought of it. No risk of anyone stepping in...
Down, boyo. Best if you stay here or part your ways and you know it. Less temptation that way.
Clearing his throat as he stood near to her, he gave a small shrug as he glanced around. "I don't mind staying in here." Grinning playfully, he reached over to pat Moira on the shoulder, "After all, the company isn't as bad as one might have thought it would be."
Play it like you're just friends, m'boy. Easier to forget that kiss earlier that way. Or at least ignore it for now...

"Oh, that's a pity." Came the patronizing retort. Moira smirked, and leaned back on the table she was sitting on now, watching him. Moira folded her arms behind her back, and grinned impishly, still watching him with those lively olive eyes of hers.
She made a move as though to hop off the table, before even actually hearing his reply, and when it made its way through her game-addled brain, she blinked, and glanced up, arching an eyebrow. Then she grinned slowly, and there wasn't ever a Cheshire grin so wide on any human's face that wasn't put there violently.
Whyyyy did that put that sort of grin on Moira's face? Well, because out of all the reasons he would avoid getting her alone... Perhaps he didn't like her like that, perhaps he was trying to remain a gentleman, perhaps, perhaps, perhaps, the one that stuck out most in Moira's mind, mostly because... well... it was funny... Was he was afraid she would do something to him.
"I don't bite, you know." She said through that wide face-splitting grin. "If that's what you're worried about." She beamed, obviously amused, and really this time it was only mostly teasing. And a little lying. Because... well... Moira did bite. Sometimes.
But only when the occasion called for it. Like a New Year's Party!

A grimace ever so slightly began to settle on Shane's face before he saw the girl start to grin. The girl sure knew how to make a man squirm. Noticing her move as though she were about to get off the table, Shane twitched a bare half step towards her, before noticing the grin making its way across her face.
Paling at the sight, not quite sure just what had set her to grinning, he took a whole step backwards. For some reason, that grin made him nervous, and it wouldn't do to be nervous round the lass he was wanting. Faulty nerves could lead to a fatal mistake in the game, and no matter how much he was starting to wish he'd just lose already - he still didn't want to make an error. If he did, he'd likely not hear the end of it, and he had a funny feeling the rest of the lasses at lotus just might well hear of it.
Eyes flicking towards the ground as Moira assured him she didn't bite, he faintly wondered what had brought about that response. Why would he worry about her biting him? Glancing back up and raising an eyebrow, he nearly asked just what would bring up the biting, but in the end, seeing the amused smile on her face left him nigh on speechless.
Ah, but the lass was a dangerous devil!
"No, lass, that wasn't what I was afraid of."
Clearing his throat, he moved to sit down on the chair. At least that way it would be less tempting - and less plausible - for him to just snatch her up in an embrace and lay a heavy kiss on her.
Boyo, you've gone and trapped yourself well and good, now. Just hope the lass isn't out to play you like a harp!

Moira watched Shane like a shark as he sat down, one leg idly crossing over the other as she stayed perched on the tabletop. She tilted her head when he assured that no, he wasn't afraid of her biting, and her grin didn't lessen. She'd noticed him step back when he first saw it, it made him nervous. And if he was nervous, well... It'd spur some sort of reaction out of him inevitably, yes?
Moira's logic might be a little twisted, to be honest. The girl watched him, thoughtfully. Every little hint she'd thrown, he'd deflected with grace. She was running out of cards to throw at him, and it was now at the thought of cards she wished she'd brought her deck with her. She was growing nervous and antsy, but Moira wasn't one to lose. Ohh no, not if she could help it. Although, if it went on long enough, she'd probably just jump him anyway. But not right now, noooot yet.
Moira wanted to see if it'd be possible to make him jump her. And if not... well. Guys were turned on by a girl taking control, right? So either way it worked in her favor!
Quickly dispelling any sort of thoughts of caving and jumping him now, she scooted back on the table and picked up her book, flipping open to the page she was on. Then she glanced over, smirking. "You don't mind if I read while you muse, do you?" She asked, closing the book again and tilting her head to one side.
Of course, she doubted highly she'd do much reading. Moira knew deep down that, really, she'd gather up all her papa's stealth (or lack thereof, if you were to actually meet this man...) and spy on him over the top or sides of her book.
But she could always act like she was reading... That worked!

Watching the way Moira was grinning and acting so coyly to him, Shane regretted sitting down. It really didn't remove the temptation of just kissing her, in fact, it made him wish she'd sit in his lap already. He couldn't - or wouldn't - express that, though. He was too much of a gentleman to be that forward. Although...
Shaking his head slightly, a wry grin touched his face. If there was one way Shane could win this game, it was to leave. With a tease, at that. Knowing full well that if he stayed, things could happen that might be regretted later, done in the name of the game, Shane's eyes grew sad as he realized he thought it best to leave the lass' company for the night. He had a yearning to get back to his writing, anyway, and the surest way to do that...was to take his leave.
Slowly returning to his feet, he sauntered the couple short steps to the lass' side. A small smirk touched his lips, as one hand reached up to gently cup Moira's chin. Tilting her chin upwards, he hesitated momentarily as he bent downwards, feeling her breath on his face. Ah, but it'd be so easy to just kiss her and have done with it! Lips parting slightly as he hovered near to hers, the corners turned back up into a smirk as he turned her chin to one side. Pressing his lips to the smooth skin of her cheek with just enough pressure to indicate he wanted more, he whispered, "Well, lass, my muse is making me take my leave, I'm afraid."
Winking as he released her chin and stupid up, his hand gave her a small wave. If only she knew just how true it was that it was in fact his muse that caused him to take his leave.
Turning slowly, Shane made his way to the door. Feet feeling heavier than they had when he walked in, and a slightly dejected expression taking over his face as soon as he shut the door. Sighing, he kicked himself mentally. That game took a lot more out of him than it used to. Trudging back to his room, he wondered at how a girl he had met by chance, made it so hard to stick to what he knew.

Moira could feel a stampede of butterflies unfurling in her stomach when Shane closed in on her, and they just started to go crazy when he was touching her. She closed her eyes, expecting an end to the game and a kiss, and when she didn't receive either... Well. She was stunned. Stunned enough to not say anything as Shane left, anyway.
It took a minute or two before Moira truly processed the kiss, and the pressure, and what it meant, and... Then she was upset. "Damn it." She fumed a little, and hopped off the table, grabbing her book. "I was so sure I'd get a kiss out of that."
Fuming face pulling itself into a pout, Moira sighed, and looked towards the door. Then she grinned a little, thoughtfully. "It won't be the last time we see each other, ohh no." She muttered to herself, grinning wickedly. "And next time, come hell or high water, I'm gonna get more than a friendly peck."
If it took liquid courage and lingerie to do it, Gods be damned, she'd do it!
Moira picked up her book, holding it to her chest, and left the library as well. She turned the opposite way, and headed to her own bedroom, thoughts racing in her head from that little peck.
So maybe it wasn't what she'd hoped for. It was still something, and a darn good something at that.
