I can't believe I forgot to mention Dimebag, another favorite of mine, quite an innovator, even EVH was copying some of his moves.

You don't have Alex Lifeson nor Robert Fripp on there.
How on earth can you not have Robert Fripp? For shame, good sir!

osgood_schloter_boi dark assassin7 osgood_schloter_boi mine is steve vai btw. i mean come on, the guy plays with his TONGUE! ... hendrix played with his teeth and tounge. biggrin ...ya vai did those two as well. i love jimmi, but he's not in my top 10 of favs, and face it, he's been beaten out of that #1 spot (death has a little to do with it) mrgreen Pff...Vai would be nothing if Hendrix hadn't come and reinvented the instrument.

Steve Vai -- always wanted to play like him. Him, Kirk Hammet, Hendrix, and Duff McKeggan made me pick up guitar. I now also respect Vai's composition skills, as a more progressed artist.

I can't even believe Jason Becker and Paul Gilbert didn't make that list as well as Zakk Wylde and Dimebag. Those are amazing guitarists as well as Alexi Laiho and Jeff Loomis and so many more. Everybody has their own personal favorite and it just breaks down to what each person likes about a certain style. They're all extremely amazing. \m/

Obviously he can't mention everybody, but he did make a pretty substantial list.

If I had to pick one favorite gutiarist I'd say Dave Mustaine. Technical ability will never supercede creativity. Buncha guitarists just pissin in the wind...
