Promise? What is a promise. Vex never heard of that word before. Confused, he gave Hope a baffled look and a tilt of the head.

"A promise...You know...Ummm." Hope looked around trying to find the right way to explain it. "Well. It's like if I said something like, I said I won't let anything happen to you. Right? Well saying that I promise is like saying that I swear on my heart or lift that I won't let anything happen to you. Do you understand now?" Hope asked in a quiet, non-threatning tone.
