Kibo: Be careful to keep them far apart from each other. We don't want your ship exploding out of the sky, now do we?

"don't worry, the trigger mechanism only activates if it is struck hard or it detects a high wind speed" auron says, yawning and tilting his head to the side "if you want, i could loan you a few cannonballs or give you the formula for making them" he says, smiling and teleporting in front of kibo, hanging upside-down two feet in front of him

Storm was somewhat confused. She didn't know a lot about phyisic, but...
"Then wouldn't that make them detonate before contact was made?"

"I said 'activates', not the same as 'detonates'" auron said, turning to storm "it takes one hit to activate, another to detonate" he says, sighing and closing his eyes "that mechanism is the very reason why it takes a long time to make one"

Kibo: High wind speed? That's easy to fake. Aeromancy, Auron. Perhaps a different detonating device... Perhaps detonate it from an outside force? A word, perhaps?

"actually, that would be harder" auron says, closing his eyes and thinking "besides, the high wind speed only arms it, it can't make it detonate, and these things are kept somewhere very special" he says, smiling and holding out his right hand as a small dark portal opens and he pulls out a cannonball "a special dimension that i store all my stuff in when i don't need it" he says, putting the cannonball inside and closing the portal, then teleporting behind storm "very similar to the Between, in that only i can access it" he says, shrugging "even if kibo could access it, it takes a certain skill just to open the damn thing"

Storm half turned so that both Kibo and Auron were both in her line of sight.
"If it is armed, it can be detonated."
That much, the drow learned from personal experience.

Kibo: Oh, like my pack? There's a rune marking in the bottom of my pack. When I touch it, or put anything in it, it opens up a portal to my own little jurisdiction in the Shadows. 5 miles square should be enough to store all my stuff, shouldn't it?

"fairly similar, but mine is opened with a flick of my wrist" auron says, sighing and opening a portal below him and reaching one hand in, sifting through the useless junk he had stored in there, until his arm was in all the way to his shoulders "now, where did i put that damn thing" he says, sticking his other arm in and sorting through everything "guess i need to empty this thing out" he says, chuckling as he sifts through the pile of junk stored inside
((oh, forgot to mention, auron's a pack-rat))

Kibo laughed quietly.
Kibo: Perhaps you could have a few spirits in there to organize everything and bring things to you if you need them. Might I prefer a librarian?

auron stops sifting and smiles as he starts to pul on something inside the portal "found it" he says, struggling to pull it out "and an organizer wound make it harder, since the portal opens at different spot inside the dimension each time i open it" he says, pulling out a large stone shaped like a wheel "been meaning to take this whetstone out of here" he says, chuckling as he sets it down on the deck

Kibo: Now what could you possibly be sharpening that'd require that big of a whetstone?

Storm snickered dispite herself.
"I don't think I will say what I am thinking. Brownie points for self-restraint."
Mothers really shouldn't think such thoughts of their sons...even adopted ones.

auron draws his dagger, transforming it into his long sword "this" he says, resting it on kibo's shoulder, a good six feet away "a pirate must have a keen eye and a sharp blade, else he won't be sailing free for long"

Kibo: Sure, but... a whetstone? It's so... primitive...
He put two fingers on the edge of Auron's blade, running them down the full length of the sharpened edge ((Don't you say anything, Izzy.))
Kibo: Done.
He steps to the other side of the blade, and pressed it slowly against the whetstone. When he removed his hand, the blade was sunk width-deep in the whetstone, like it had just cut through butter.
Kibo: You can probably cut this stone in half now just using the weight of the blade...
