Smiling softly at her response and agreement, Maelthra relaxed further while gazing up at the night sky more, very glad to have met Amuriel. As he felt quite content now, he just wondered how things will be later on. Seeing how quickly they had befriended one another, he was certain that they would remain close for quite a long time.
"You know.. I haven't really felt this at ease for a long time... It's really kinda nice."
That wasn't really directed at anyone in particular, and was more of an outspoken thought. He didn't mind if she heard though, as he was thinking of whether he should try and get to know her better now or wait a little while before throwing some questions at the other elder.

Putting her hands behind her head to serve as a makeshift pillow, Amuriel smiled and nodded in agreement, "It is very nice... It's peaceful, and this spot is peaceful too..."
She glanced at their surroundings: a still lake, a beautiful clear sky, soft grass, and the protective sentry of trees. It was peaceful, serene, beautiful. She was happy to be here, glad she followed the scent, and overjoyed to have made a friend. For the moment, she was content with herself and her surroundings, but she was also becoming curious of this elder again, now not so much because of what he was doing or why he was out alone so much as just to get to know her new-found friend.
Wondering what she should or could ask him, she also wondered if he had any questions for her.

Maelthra continued to stare up at the sky, taking in the beauty of the stars he loved to fly amongst. As he did so, he just tried to think of some questions he could ask her. Questions that wouldn't be too invasive, and things that would just allow him to learn more about his new friend.
It didn't take long for him to think up of one.
"You mentioned before that you had some trouble with your powers too... what exactly are they? What ever it is, it's probably not so much trouble to lose control over as my fire abilities..."
He sighed lightly at his own incompetence with his magical abilities. Even with Drachus's help that one time, he still had some trouble keeping the flames completely within his control now.

"Fire power is an amazing ability though," she replied, smiling over at him. "Fire is a beautiful element."
Laughing quietly, she sat up slightly and held her hands in front of her, spreading her fingers to form a cage between her hands. "But no, it's not that much trouble to lose control over my ability. See... I am ice." She formed a small, frosty cube of frozen water in front of her and grinned, tilting her head. "So if I lose control or mess up, I can simply drop it, and let it melt into the ground to serve as nourishment for the forest that surrounds us. I guess in that way and temperature, my power is the opposite of yours, unless what I saw earlier is not what you truly do?"
She laughed inwardly at the irony of her first friend being the opposite of herself in that regard, but it was a small matter. Hopefully, she thought, the opposites would cause them to become more interested in one another instead of repelled.

Smiling a bit, Maelthra nodded with his words, "I'm glad someone thinks that... I've been kinda scolded a few times because of it really."
Shifting his gaze towards her hand as she created a small box of ice, he tilted his head before chuckling at the thought. It wasn't just that, but judging by their own appearances, they contrasted quite a bit as well. He wore dark clothing that may make a human wary of him, and he had red eyes. Amuriel on the other hand wore a light elegant dress, and had deep blue eyes.
"That's a pretty nice power though I think. I... don't really like the cold a whole lot, but I have seen things like snow while I was in the human lands. It's pretty beautiful to see it drift down... so ice is really neat as an element as well. But setting things on fire is what I can do. Right now I can just create it and control it to some extent, but keeping it within my control is the tricky part."

Dropping the icecube on the ground next to her, Amuriel smiled, "Thanks. My element is cold, but I hope I am not as chilly as it."
She leaned back on the grass again and replaced her hands under her head, but she turned her gaze toward him now instead of the sky. "I'm sure you will get your powers under control soon enough, and I hope I do as well.. by the way," she began, deciding to venture her own question, "how long have you been an elder?"
Watching him, she realized she had not yet seen his other form, and she was becoming more and more curious to see what he truly looked like. She was almost certain, however, that he would be attractive. If he were handsome in his elven form, surely he would not fail to impress in his true form. She flustered slightly, ashamed of herself for considering him in such a way. She barely knew him after all! It shouldn't be the appropriate time to be considering if he were attractive or not... should it?
Blinking, she also wondered how old he was. She felt as though he was close to her own age, but since he was an elder, it was hard to determine. What if he were centuries older than her? What would... pausing, she scolded herself and turned her head back to the sky, blushing faintly and hoping Mael would not notice in the night's shadow.

"From what I can tell... You're far from being as cold as your element."
Smiling softly still, the elder in elven form glanced towards her once more, tilting his head slightly as she questioned his age more or less. And it was a pretty good question since he was now curious to how long she had been an elder as well. Since they didn't really age much, it really would be hard to tell just by appearance. Though taking the fact they were both still underdeveloped in terms of their powers, it was safe to assume they were around the same age.
"Well... I became an elder while I was in the human lands... and it has been... less than five years since then..."
Chuckling nervously, he wondered if he was going to be called a "pup" or something like that in the case she happened to be much much older than him.
She's too pretty to be really old though... was one thought that floated in his head.
"What about you?" he asked.

In the mood she was in, Maelthra's comment caused Amuriel to fluster further, and she murmured a swift response, "Thank you..."
Chuckling quietly, she chanced a glance over at him before staring at the sky once more, "You're young then, but I'm not any older. I became an elder some three to five years ago when I was traveling with a group of flora loving nomads, so it is possible I may even be younger than you by a short amount of time."
As she watched the stars flicker above her, she wondered what else she could ask him. She was thoroughly enjoying herself so far, even though she was becoming increasingly nervous, and she hoped he was too.

Nodding to her, he stretched out on the ground while gazing up through the tree tops more and listened. As he had guessed they were right around the same age, and could probably just say they're the same. Considering that the age gap between some elders can be an immense amount of years or decades. Possibly even centuries.
"I wonder if we left the forest around the same time too..." he said quietly.
Smiling a bit, he looked over at her while definitely enjoying her company. He wasn't feeling all that nervous like he was when he first saw her, and he couldn't tell that she was feeling somewhat uncomfortable in a way. However, he did see her face being more reddish in hue than it was earlier.
"Are... you alright? You look a little... flustered.. You're not sick are you?"
Blinking a bit, he tentively reached out to lightly touch her forehead below her horn to see if he could feel a fever.

Amuriel smiled and glanced back over at him, "It's possible we left near the same time. I was an older teenager at the time, and more than a little head strong."
Shifting as he looked at her, she wondered what he was considering until he spoke again, "W-What? No no.." she began replying, shaking her head slightly. "I'm fi-"
Cutting off her sentence, she jumped and blushed a deeper scarlet as he touched her forehead, and she hastily sat up. "I'm fine, I promise," she said, quickly, fidgeting and giving him a nervous smirk meant to portray confidence. She wondered exactly what he would do if he realized she was attracted to him, and for a brief moment, a thought ran through her mind that he would try to humiliate her for it.

Startled when Amuriel suddenly sat up just as he touched her, Maelthra blinked in confusion as he could have sworn she was a deeper red now than moments ago. Perhaps his eyes were playing tricks on him though. So tilting his head, he stared at her before setting his hand back at his side.
"Alright.."
She was acting rather strangely now, and he wasn't sure why. Was there something about him that disturbed her? He certainly hoped not. And for a moment, he felt his heart race as he feared she was having some second thoughts about being a friend of his.
That was something he really wished would not be the case, for he felt a desire to be able to be by her more.
"... Are you sure there's nothing bothering... disturbing you..?"

"I'm sure..." Amuriel replied hastily, nervous to be the center of his concern and attention. She wondered if it would be best just to tell him about the attraction she felt, or if she could manage to gather her composure a little better. Though she realized if he kept centering his attention around her, she was bound to become flustered again.
It was the first time she had felt this way, any level of attraction for a male, and it confused her. She knew it wasn't love she felt, for she had not known him long enough at all for those types of feelings to emerge, but she knew it was an attraction none-the-less.
Glancing up at him briefly, she wondered if she should leave for the moment to recompose herself, or if perhaps she could manage to regain that composure here with him somehow. Telling him her feelings, she believed, probably would not prove to be helpful, so she went with trying to stay and recompose herself here. The night was far from over, and she didn't feel like leaving just yet.
She looked in front of her at the lake again, and a thought came to her mind. "Hey, would you like to swim?"

Blinking against at her hasty response, Maelthra wondered if he should press on with this more or leave it be. He could tell that something was bothering her to some extent but he just wasn't sure what it was at the moment. And quite frankly, he really didn't have much time to think about it before she had asked him about swimming.
"Swim...? Like.. this or in our true forms..?"
Shifting a bit, he felt his heart beginning to race again at the thought of swimming around in his elven form. He knew he wouldn't really want to do that sort of thing fully clothed and such, but having been around humans for a few years, he wasn't exactly comfortable being nude or mostly nude while in this form.
And quite frankly, he was a little nervous about the fact that Amuriel may.. poke fun at him or criticize him a bit.
So he peered out into the lake, which did seem like it was large enough to hold a couple of fully grown elders within it. But of course they'd have more room in their current state.

Amuriel glanced out at the lake, oblivious to Maelthra's discomfort. It wasn't a very large lake, but it was large enough to hold two elders. However, they wouldn't have much room, and she hadn't really considered shifting forms just to take a swim.
Having been around humans but retaining much of her dragonfly heritage, Amuriel had no shame over her body. Her elven form was the same to her as her true form, which she never wore clothing in. The scant dress and few items of jewelry she wore in her elven form were merely for her own pleasure, and they were trinkets she had gathered over the years to try to fit in with human culture a little more. She felt no qualms about discarding them so easily for a swim, for she viewed her elf body only as nude as her true form would be.
"Well... like this of course. It'd be a little cramped otherwise," she replied, standing. She slipped off her dress and placed it on the bank before pushing her toes into the water. It was relatively warm and a nice temperature for a swim.

While Amuriel answered, Maelthra's gaze was still on the lake at the time being. But when she said they were to swim in their current forms, his eyes widened a bit before looking over to her to see if she was joking at all. And very much to his surprise, she was standing at the bank in the nude.
Very much in shock, his mouth had dropped open slightly and his face turned a little red as he couldn't help but gape at her, wondering if she was really that comfortable to be naked like that. Along with that, he just couldn't help but think how beautiful she looked like that. And because of this, he was just at a loss for words right now.
It really wasn't until he felt a slight trickle in his nose that he managed to stop gawking at her. Shaking his head, he brought a hand up to his nostril to check what was dripping there and it happened to be a small amount of blood.
