tangocat777 Ace Paladin tangocat777 Ace Paladin tangocat777 I really don't like Halo fanboys. The average Halo fanboy WILL NOT LISTEN TO REASON. He'll just coninue to post about how supposedly awesome Halo is and how anything else brought into a conversation apparently fails. Funny, sounds a lot like you with Sonic...*raises eyebrow* I kid, I kid.
; DDAMN, you replied fast. Let me make this clear. I do not blindly love all Sonic games. Even the first two games were bland to me. The first had no Super Sonic, and was slow, the next made it overly hard to get all emeralds in a manner that letted you enjoy them, and the final boss had a severe lack of rings. I did not like advance titles. They made simple actions overly complicated and uninspired stages. I loved the SA titles because they had chaos, excellent music, and were a very enthralling experience for me. I liked spinball because it was an engaging score-crunching and survivalist game. Shadow appealed to me because it had many stages and missions and lasted a long time. (I am was also a kickass song imo) Heroes was fast-paced and fun, although overdone at times and featured two completely generic teams and was a huge copy and paste job. Are we cool now or what? I knew you arent a fanboy, I was making a joke.

Arvis_Jaggamar Zombicide Well, I hate them all, but FF fanboys annoy me the most. It is complete J-trash, and it's only popular because of this recent Japanese obsession time period America is going through right now. Notice how about 15 years ago, in the SNES days, people weren't this obsessed with the series? Now, all because FF7 had its good-looking cutscenes and Star Wars rip-off sword fights, everyone's obsessed. Now, every time a "new" game comes out (despite the fact that THEY'RE ALL THE SAME), people wet themselves with excitement. Why everyone is this obsessed with Final Fantasy is something that I don't expect an answer for even years from now. It's just a wierd modern phenomenon that will never be explained; similar to spontaneous combustion, or stigmata. Actually, the answer is pretty simple. People are "obsessed" over this series for the same reason that so many people love Halo, MGS, and Zelda: because they're good video games. Not to mention that if you take your post and replace the words "Final Fantasy" with "Halo" or "MGS" or "Zelda", the argument still works and sounds like the exact same thing alot of biased haters post on the internet.... "Well, I hate them all, but (Halo)(Zelda)(Metal Gear) fanboys annoy me the most. It is complete (insult), and it's only popular because of (lame, nonsensical reason). Notice how about (number) years ago people weren't this obsessed with the series? Now, all because (Halo 2)(LttP)(MGS) had its (online multiplayer)(open world)(movie-quality story and dialogue), everyone's obsessed. Now, every time a "new" game comes out (despite the fact that THEY'RE ALL THE SAME), people wet themselves with excitement. Why everyone is this obsessed with (Halo)(Zelda)(Metal Gear) is something that I don't expect an answer for even years from now. Ace Paladin It's not J-trash. They're awesome RPG's that add so much to the genre.
That's just like one person saying a game is bad and another saying it isn't. Unfortunately just saying it isn't isn't going to convince anyone or help prove the point.
FF isn't popular because it's from Japan. It's popular because they offer a solid RPG experience. In the SNES days, they were more cult classics, and nowadays, RPGs in general have become more mainstream, and FF moved along with it. It's a "trend" to hate FF. Hating a series for being good is lame.
A game being good is itself an opinion and I never seen it used to hate FF...
Funny how Mario, Zelda, Halo, and any other franchise you can name "gets better with each game" or gets praise for "sticking to the formula". FF does the same thing every other series/franchise does, yet it's "J-Trash" and "Overrated".
You should ask how/why they think it's J-Trash. They may have a whole different reason than you think for thinking it's J-Trash. Doesn't make it any more right or wrong though.
FFVII got undeserved attention. The whole series doesn't need to be discriminated against for it. Star-Wars rip off? Please, Star Wars got 99.9% of its material/plot/story from other s**t. Games use outsides stories/inspirations all the time, don't blame any one game.
When I see people criticizing FF in other places (EX: Nintendo Cult.) more than you think mention more than just FFVII. That's just my observation.
FF games have similar plots/archetypes, but so what? Take Zelda. No one talks s**t on that. Zelda games are more closely related than FF games. No one bitched when they had to fight Ganon the same way in 10 different games. No one bitched when they had to fight Vaati the same way in 4 different games. No one bitched when they realized they bought OoT, thinking it was a new game, only to play it and find out it's a reincarnated LTTP....
I see many many talk s**t on Zelda. I saw Zelda hating threads and there was a lot of criticism of it in several places around here (VGD, other guilds) when SMG got higher ratings.
Zombicide, get the ******** off your high horse.
He even got you to use your annoying "high horse" metaphor. I hate that metaphor/phrase with a passion. mad
Jump off the "Hey, let's hate FF for a lame reason" bandwagon's d**k.
Overall response, damn.... a lot of emotion in this... Many good points were made and I agree with you. Look at my notes in green though...

No, actually, it's a term to describe the ever-diminishing American pop-culture. Notice how about 10 years ago, no one was THIS obsessed with anime and all things Japanese? (other than certain games, that were imported from Japan, dubbed, then mass-produced and sold in America as well) Now, every bit of pop-culture you see is from Japan. Am I the only one who notices this? And it's taking over not only our movies, books, and TV shows, but gaming as well. Thus, a new kind of overly-biased fanboy/fangirl is developing that will be the most annoying ever. America is going through just another pop-culture phase, similar to its rebellion phase in the 70's and its rock/metal obsession in the 80's.

If you go to school, how many kids do you know that like Anime/Manga in general? It's a small percentage of people that like "J-trash", usually ranging from 5% to 20% depending on the area you live in. My living in the south might be a reason I don't see as much around here, but never-the-less, "J-trash" is not very "popular" here in America. Pop-culture is still the majority from what I've seen. I'd actually like it if pop-culture diminished a little more. I'm all for individualism, not liking what everybody else likes and doing what everyone else does. ....Somewhere I belong

Daxelman God I love going to a getto school.
All we talk about is the Boondocks and ******** Awesome.
My high school had a mixture. There was a class I was in that the people I sat with talked about Final Fantasy almost every single day. It got old after listening to the first 100 conversations....I could have moved my seat but the rest of the class was full of douches. There were only a handful of us in the class anyway. I didn't hate the conversation it's just that it got old and it began to get annoying and was a turnoff. My lunch table one year consisted of us listening to one kid's sex life. The same thing happens at my table a college during lunch. I swear people must look at me and think they have to tell me about their sex life. At my Senior Year table they mostly talked about paintball guns and taking shits. (Yes I know Don't ask..) They talked about rap in my Senior Year English class. It goes on and on...

I've always used it as just general crap that Japan spews out that the Naruto headband-wearing fruitbuckets of America fap too... It disgusts me though, I'm amazed that I stomached buying a PS3 since I've seem to have developed "racist" disdain towards anything that comes from Japan... Althought, Sony and Nintendo despite having roots in Japan seem to have taken hold of good ol' American capitalism and ran with it to a point of being just as American as they are Japanese. But I have a general hate for most things Japanese... Save for the food and certain electronics. Go ahead, call me racist.
