Sometimes Neve thought she was the luckiest mare; she'd found a stallion who had been brave enough to stand up to her insane Kalona mother, and had taken great care of her throughout her recovery and pregnancy. And sometimes she felt that she was cursed; the great stallion had professed to thinking that love didn't exist, and now she'd done the one thing she had told herself she shouldn't with him.
'You were..wonderful, really,' she said softly, her words coming with a touch of hesitation because she really didnt want to take part in such an uncomfortable conversation so soon after giving birth.
'Yes..' she said, her ears flattening a little at the edge to his voice.
'I don't know that would. Giving birth didn't rob me of my memory.' she let out a long sigh, feeling sure that after she spoke the words out loud she would be a single parent.
'I. I feel. I've fallen in love with you. There. I've said it.' she felt that she knew what he would say, hadn't he been explicit about his feelings on that emotion?

So his suspicions were right. She was still upset that he did not believe in love, and that their children were not the fruit of love, but simply lust. He kept his gaze steady on her, his gaze hard as he tried to think of a way to put his words without coming off rude. He understood why she'd be quite upset over it... Though at her confession, he had to swallow. So Neve did love him in more than just a friendly way. His brows furrowed and he nodded, sighing. It was so incredibly frustrating, being with this mare. But what was even more bothersome was that he did not know his own feelings for her.
"... Why exactly, have you fallen for a stallion that denies the feeling of love?" He asked in a stoic voice, unsure of how to respond. He kept his hard gaze on her still, exhaling a breif sigh. He'd continue on, after he heard her speak. This was one of the things he did truly appreciate about Neve, and that was their "deeper" conversations; the ones that pulled at the heart. He wasn't aware that his tone was quite off-setting, however.

He hadn't left - yet, or replied in a scornful manner at her declaration, so maybe there was some small glimmer of hope for her. Neve looked at him for a long moment after he'd asked his question, searching for the best way to answer it without coming across as needy, or just some overly emotional mare.
'If I need to explain my feelings for you. Then I shall,' she returned his gaze unflinchingly.
'Because it isn't rational. Because I know you are caring. You are gentle, and you are brave. Love is..inconvenient. It happens. It happened to me despite my best efforts. I remember clearly what you said. Those words have burned into me you know not how many times. And I tried, I really did. I can't be distant, my heart won't allow it.' she took a breath.
'It scares me. But what I am afraid of most..' she swallowed.
'Is that my confessions have made it so that you can't be around me. I don't want that for our children. I don't want that for me.'
Only then did she drop her gaze, fatigue stealing upon her as she lay there waiting for him to speak once again.

It was hard to listen to her elaborate. He felt his chest tighten as he thought over what she said, but his face remained stoic and emotionless. She wasn't stupid, and she did hear him out when he told her how he found love to be quite a bother. He almost wanted to smile when she brought up how she didn't want him leaving for the kids, but alo for herself. He would have found this a pitiable situation if she only used their children as a way to keep him here. But she did truly love him, or whatever it was.
"Neve," he sighed, shaking his head. How to go about this? "Don't be afraid," he said quietly, watching her carefully. His expression was still a little cold, but warmth was visible behind his bi-colored eyes. "I won't be leaving you or the kids. I won't leave you or our future children." He put emphasis on the one word, keen on seeing her response. Marius couln't lie to her and say he felt nothing for her. He felt a lot for her! She was a beauty with a good mind. She made him question his beliefs, and certainly did have one interesting family history!
He closed his eyes to her, turning his head to look at the baskets. "Gentle, caring, and brave, huh?" He echoed the words she spoke earlier, sighing once more. Was that how she depicted him? That was... Interesting. He thought by now she would've grown tired of his nonchalant attitude and would have used the words 'cold, bothersome, and reserved'.
"I can't measure up to your confession, Neve. I don't know what I feel for you is love. It's close though, I think. I don't know." He mused over it quietly for a moment, before starting up again, "Love is something I've quesioned since we've been together. So what is that supposed to mean?" He turned to see her respond, curious as to how she would read it.

Whether it was the birth or their heavy conversation, she didn't know but for a moment Neve started to feel light headed, a slight buzzing feeling about her ears as she waited for Marius to speak, to laugh, to condemn her feelings. When he did speak, it caused her to draw in a breath and she looked back at him.
'Oh..oh!' for a moment, she belied his good thoughts about her, because that was literally all she could say after his declaration. Not leaving her. Or the children. Or future children!
'One lot at a time I think,' she said a little wryly, recovering some of herself, but smiling at him as she said.
'Yes. Yes. And yes. If you don't see it. Know that I do.' she fell quiet as she listened to him speak further.
'That you're open to it. More open than I thought on first meeting you. If you absolutely had decided against love, in each and every form, then I have no doubt that you would have shrugged off my worries and my feelings. You didn't. You might not think of it as such, but I think you know love. And you can give it. It's enough for me. What you have to give, and what you have given is - I treasure it.' she said.
'And we have a family now!. We are family. And you'll be a good father, I know it.'

He smirked lightly as she caught drift of what he was saying, and chuckled lightly at her words. He was definitely welcome to the idea that they should just simply raise their current lot before looking into future kids. His eyes lingered on the baskets for a moment, before his gaze turned back to her. She seemed happy. That meant he did something right, huh? Content, he listened to what she had to say in turn.
His face fell unreadable as she claimed that she treasured what he gave her... But he did't even know what he gave her besides a lot of excess weight and children... Maybe even a headache. But... Whatever. Marius smiled and nodded, not exactly surewhat to say, "Good, treasure it, 'cause to be quite frank I don't know what manisfesttion of love I've given you." He rolled his eyes a little, before looking back to the baskets.
"... So, when do they open?" He rose his brows and set his chin back on the ground once more, a bit impatient.

'It's there,' Neve said softly, but firmly. That was the end of that as far as she was concerned. Well, for now at any rate. She was far too mentally and physically tired to dwell on it for the time being, and the security he had given her in regards to their relationship was enough for her. She chuckled at his eye rolling.
'When they are ready to open Marius, and not before.' it wasn't a good answer, but it was the only one she could give him.
'I am sure you'll see your children soon enough.' her head nodded again and she yawned, hiding her mouth behind a bent leg as she did so.
'I'm going to sleep..before I pass out.' she said, blinking a few times as there were many Marius' in front of her for a moment. Her head lowered, and she was soon asleep.
