Ren was only vaguely aware of Ronin lying down by her and licking her wounds, but she genuinely appreciated it. It took a moment for her eyes to focus on the modiphim's face, but when they did she frowned. "What happened to your eyes?" she asked, licking gently on the side of one to remove the blood. "I didn't do that to you, did I?" Everything had happened so quickly that for all she knew she might have. She hoped that wasn't the case though, as that certainly had never happened in the past.

Ronin closed his eyes as Ren licked him and smiled. "No, don't worry. It wasn't you," he paused and opened his eyes to look at her. "It's the reason I told you not to let that beast see you." He sighed. "I wasn't sure how it might affect you. But I didn't want to take the chance that it might've been able to to do to you what it does to me."

Ren's frown curled into a slight smile. "You didn't have to worry about me," she replied, looking at him affectionately. "These eyes of mine are strong. I probably would have been able to handle it." The vixen's gaze slowly turned upward to the cliff where the kill lay. "Hmm, that might be rather difficult to get back to... Perhaps I should have tried to pull him over with me." She then looked down at the piece of ram meat beside her. "Ah, I got part of him down here anyway. Good, I thought he had actually thrown me off for a moment there."

"Nope, you were too strong for him, he couldn't shake you. He got you off... but it cost him his life." Ronin grinned and licked Ren again. "Your claws were stronger than his thick hide," he laughed. He looked up at the ledge above. "Shall I bring him down here?" He knew he couldn't carry the thing down, but thoght maybe he could rolly it off the side. He didn't want to risk trying to move Ren yet.

"That thing's rather big," she mused aloud, looking back up at the ledge above again. "Hmm, maybe if you did some carefully aimed rolling... I should probably get out of the way first though." Ren went to get back up again but immediately stopped as several spasms of pain went through different parts of her body. She involuntarily let out a small whine against her will. "Uh, nevermind," she remarked with a nervous laugh, trying to brush it off so as not to further worry Ronin. "Since it is bigger it should probably stop short of me anyway due to it's weight."

Ronin moved closer to Ren concernedly as she tried to get up. He knew she shouldn't move, but Ronin wasn't ready to put Ren's life in danger again by hoping the ram would stop before it hit her. He decided he would make sure it stopped in time. "I'll be right back," he looked at her caringly before leaping into the air and zooming to the cliff above.

Ren watched Ronin fly above with equal concern. What was it he was going to try to do? She didn't mean to cause so much trouble for him and hoped that whatever it was he was planning wouldn't harm him as well.

Ronin moved behind the massive creature and pushed as hard as he could. It scooted a bit and rolled once. Justa few inches more until he could let it roll down the side. He paused for a moment to rest, then sighed. Finally, he pushed it clear off the edge and the carcass went tumbling down the side. Ronin jumped down and positioned himself in front of it to slow its out-of-control rolling. As he neared the bottom where Ren lay, a falling boulder hit his wing causing him to lose control. He struggled and tried to recover, but got caught beneath the carcass as it hit the final ledge. Luckily, they both stopped short of Ren.

"Ronin!" Ren cried out, immediately trying to jump up to his aid. This failed however which resulted in another small but very painful tumble that ended with a tiny yelp. "Ronin!" she cried out again, ignoring her fall, "Are you alright?!?" She shouldn't have let him try it. A big meal wasn't worth all of this.

Ronin lay dead still for a moment. Finally, a soft groan could be heard as he moved a front paw. Slowly he opened one eye. Spying Ren, he attempted a smile. He tried to crawl over to her to soothe her, but found he couldn't seem to move. A pain surged through his body as he realized what had just happened. He let out a sharp yelp which turned into a viscious snarl. "Dam fat oaf! Why'd you have to be so entirely huge?!" he growled at the dead ram.

As worried sick as Ren was, she could help but laugh at Ronin's venting. A large wave of relief had washed over her when she knew that he was at least alive, but she was still concerned about his condition. "Are you alright?" she asked again, a little bit calmer this time. "Can you get out?"

Ronin's fussing stopped instantly at the sound of Ren's voice. He kept still and looked at her. He determined then that he wasn't about to let their supper make a fool out of him. He twisted himself over on to his back, still beneath the carcass. He felt a slight crack as he did so, but ignored it. He pushed as hard as he could with his front paws against the animal's body trying to lift it. Finally he got so angry with it, he kicked as hard as he could with all four legs, which sent the carcass a whole half a foot into the air. But it was just enough for him to get out from under it. "Ha! There now. I guess I showed him," he grinned as he looked back at Ren. He stumbled over to her side and practically fell back down to lay beside her.

Ren chuckled and laid her head gently against his side. "How's your wing?" she asked, nuzzling him. "That rock looked like it did a number on you in the air." She wasn't in any giant rush to get to the dead ram at the moment. After all, it wasn't like it was going to go anywhere.

Ronin didn't move for a few moments as he enjoyed the feeling of resting and having Ren close again. He tried stretching out his wings, but quickly stopped when he felt more pain. "...ouch," he said with a laugh. He looked back to see just how bad shape his wings were in. Both were missing feathers to say the least. But his left wing was what hurt him the most, and it wasn't just from the gash the rock had left in it. He attempted to stretch it out once more. He shuddered. "...well I don't think it's broken." He let the left wing hang loose off his side and folded the other back up against him. "I think I dislocated it."

"Well, in any case it seems that we may be here a while," Ren replied, her survival instincts starting to kick in as she surveyed the area. Apart from the dead ram, there were a couple of fruiting plants that could serve as extra food. There was also a semi-deep bowl sized and shaped hole in the ground near them, which would be perfect to collect water should it rain. If it didn't however then they might be in even more trouble. "Do you happen to be good at relocating joints?" she asked casually as she continued to study their surroundings.
