It is really easy to god mod and power play in a fight scene. One thing that should help prevent some of these things is to (especially in a fight) control only the things your character can do, and what your character has done. Remember that you can't control your opponent in anyway, or anything that your opponent has done (IE: They set a trap, so you can't just simply disarm it. You have to state that you see the trap (if you even do. If you have any questions about what your opponent does, just PM them or ask them about it in out of character postings.), and then state that you try to disarm the trap. Explain how you do it and if it works, your opponent should let the trap be harmlessly disarmed.).

Another hard trick is to actually let your character make mistakes (like tripping, saving or hurting one self), and get hurt. If your character wouldn't be able to avoid the attack, then let it hit. Your opponent should decide what the attack does, seen as it is their attack and they know best what it is. If they are fair, then it will only do what harm it should, and not kill and or maim your character (unless that is what the attack does, but auto-kills are discouraged upon, so avoid using these at all costs).

Remember, your character is (theoretically) real, and isn't a god or demigod. They are not all knowing. All seeing. All powerful. They should make mistakes, get hurt, and grow.




One final hint about fight scenes, if in doubt, call in a mod to review the situation BEFORE it gets out of hand and arguing begins. A mod would be anyone in charge, and if it is a role play outside a guild, the moderator of that thread would be the creator of the thread or anyone making the story.

Hello. I go by quite a few names, such as Cael, Morphine, Synth, Hero, and Sinyao, but if you call me by a role play character's name, such as Jaedynn/Jae/Phae, Aiden, or Zethel, I will likely answer as well.

I've been role playing for quite a number of years, and I can proudly say I am a very old member of Gaia, although if you think about it, you'll probably find out that this probably isn't my first account then.

Currently, I do casual role plays, and 1x1, and I am currently trying to finish up on my Zephyr Knights Guild, as well as get my FFA thread, the Scrapyard Soldiers, up and running. I also have another guild, the Great Nexus, which will eventually be a role playing center and help area for those wishign to learn, but that project has been halted for now.

If anyone requires help, whether it be if they're roleplaying effectively, how to lengthen posts, or character/profile/role play help in any way, don't hesitate to ask.
