"I'm so happy for you!" Kimie bounced again, then groaned. "OK, no more of that," she giggled. "Do you know when you're going to go in and stuff? Or have you just been bouncing off the walls since you got the letter?" She settled herself back on the couch, hugging the pillow happily.

"Well, don't hurt yourself!" Amyla said, trying to scold Kimie into behaving and failing miserably due to the large grin that was still splitting her face in two. "And no, we don't know when we're going in. We've just both been so excited since we got the letter. We're going to stop by the clinic again soon to find out, though." She relaxed a bit in the chair, tucking a few wayward strands of hair behind her ears. "So... how've you been doing besides being sick? Excited?"

"I'm fine, I'm fine," Kimie protested, batting Amyla away. "I'm just all... eee!" (Eeee! really is the only way to describe it!) Taking a few deep breaths, she grinned. "I really am feeling OK, most of the time. Very thankful that Danica took Evan out somewhere though. I needed that nap." She nodded and made a slightly more concerted effort to straighten her hair.

Amyla grinned back. "Yeah... the only way I could express myself was squeals and sobs for about the first two hours. Now I'm a little better at articulating," she said, squirming a bit in her seat. "I'm glad you're feeling better, but you really ought to rest more. I told you that we can take Evan for a bit if you need a break. It's not a problem," she said, unconsciously adopting the tone of authority that she used with her patients. "Danica has been a big help, though? We've got Kari to assist us, so we should survive. Karael seems to think that all small things should be well-educated. You should have seen her trying to teach Kveairo-- our very grumpy carnivorous black stallion-- how to speak French. Quite interesting..."

"Well, if you're going to be pregnant soon, I wouldn't want to sic Evan on you," Kimie pointed out, rather logically. "But thanks so much for the offer. Maybe Aiodhan can babysit, and we'll sit around with our feet up!" She giggled and raised a skeptical brow. "French? Oh, I'm sure that went well!"

Amyla giggled as well. "I like that idea. Maybe we can even persuade Aiodhan to cook for us both. Then we really wouldn't have to get up." She knew the dragon-man wouldn't really mind, though he would put up a bit of resistance just for the point of.... well, being Aiodhan. "And yes, Kari tried to teach Kveairo to speak French. It went quite well until Kari realized that Kveairo was ignoring her and rather noisily ripping a dead rodent to shreds so that he could eat it. She didn't like that very much." The memory made her grin. "Ahhh... such good times."

"Ew." Kimie made a face. "Hey, any meal I don''t have to cook sounds all right to me!" She nibbled on a couple of saltines. "So, do you know what DNA you''re going to use?"

"Actually, we do know. It was Aiodhan's idea. It's called Panthera tigris, but most people know it as the Bengal or white tiger. It's.... err...." Amyla flushed scarlet. "Aiodhan didn't explain his logic to me until after we picked. But... well, let's just say it was sound logic on his part." She blushed even further at the memory, ducking her head and brushing back a few stray strands of hair to cover her embarassment. "Anyway, have you explained the upcoming arrival's... upcoming arrival to Evan yet?" she asked.

Kimie blinked, but figured if it was so embarrassing, she wouldn't press the issue of Aiodhan's "logic." "Oh, that sounds interesting. Bengals are gorgeous animals." Her own feline tail twitched slightly.

"I've told him that he's going to have a little brother or sister soon, and that much he understands. But.. I didn't want to confuse him with the mechanics of it all, since it's not really a normal situation."

Amyla grinned broadly, imagining Kimie trying to explain 'pregnancy' to Evan. "I didn't think you'd try to go in detail with him. If Kari didn't already know, I wouldn't be explaining it to her either. Is he excited about having a younger sibling?" she asked, sparing a glance at her watch. What taking Aiodhan so long? She frowned. "If he burned on that damned grill...." she muttered quietly.

"I think he is. It's kind of hard to tell, honestly. He might be expecting a pet..." Kimie shrugged. "I hope he'll enjoy having someone younger than him around." She coughed, also beginning to wonder whatever had happened to Aiodhan.

"Well, I guess we''ll find out soon," Amyla chuckled, sparing her watch another glance. "And I''d better head home. You need to rest, and I need to make sure Aiodhan didn''t burn the house down trying to use the-"

A knock resounded at the front door, though it sounded a bit odd. Aiodhan was outside, using his tail to knock as both of his hands were carefully trying to balance covered serving dishes. He hadn''t, to his greatest surprise, burned anything (including himself) in his grilling experience. In fact, it had gone very well barring the fact that he had difficulty getting the thing started at first. He''d been shouting at the thing after nearly twenty minutes of struggling, and suddenly the thing had burst into flames. Surprised but pleased, he hadn''t thought on it at the moment. Now he was a bit concerned. Where had those flames come from?!

"Or... he'll show up right now." Kimie grinned. She pulled herself up and padded to the door to let Aiodhan in. "Oooh, that smells good!" she sniffed the air, waving him in. As the dragonman and his various covered dishes entered, she spotted a white van speeding away. "Wha..?" She looked around to find a little girl poking around in the flowerbeds. "Er..."

The girl's ears twitched and she turned towards Kimie. "Mommy!" she shrieked, flinging herself at the pregnant woman.

Aiodhan gave Kimie a broad grin and slunk past her as the little girl threw herself into the woman's arms. "Ooh, you made a friend," he sniggered, sneaking into her kitchen to leave the two dishes. He ambled back to the door just in time to meet Amyla's furious gaze.

"What took you so long?" she demanded, glaring suspiciously up at him. "What did you catch on fire?" She knew him well enough to know that every time he attempted a new task, something always, always, always went wrong. That was why she had been out of her chair and on Kimie's heels the instant she realized who was knocking.

"Nothing!" the dragon-man insisted, giving her a look that clearly said "Later!" When she only gave him a wary gaze in response, he returned his attention to Kimie and her new.... companion? daughter? The girl had called her 'Mommy,' after all.

"Whoa. Um. What?" Kimie stammered, arms automatically moving to hug the child. "Amyla!" she called helplessly.

The girl, who seemed awfully lemur-like, clung to Kimie happily. "Found Mommy!" she giggled. "Truck go bye-bye." She nodded solemnly.

Fortunately, Kimie's maternal streak kicked in. She could hardly ignore a charming little girl who seemed so certain she'd found home. "I.. see..." She led the lemur-girl inside, trying not to look completely out of her comfort zone. "Come sit on the couch."

The newcomer climbed up on the couch and hugged her long ringed tail. "Hi!" she chirped, wiggling her ears at Amyla and Aiodhan.
