"I'd love to visit, and I'll bring my other brother Nereus along when I do, so you can meet him too. Maybe I'll bring Janae if she's around when we're leaving." Excited, Seren looked around her, eagerly taking in the surrounding tanks from the safety of the larger male's back. Paying close attention to the way they were swimming, Seren curiously asks, "Do you have any fry, Mect?"

He chuckled a bit, taking a little hop over a coral branch before answering that question. "No, no frys of my own yet." One ear flickered, then the other, and he added, "I like frys, haven't really met any that I haven't liked, so I'd love to have a few er, Mecties running about."

"My momma loves babies, she's been getting sad lately because my brother's and sister's and I have been getting bigger everyday. She wants more babies in the tank." Seren hangs her head at the thought of making her mother sad. "I think she's making plans for me and my sisters and brothers to have babies of our own. I'm not old enough for babies yet!"

"Ha!" Mect had to pause his swimming, he was laughing so hard that he was starting to have trouble seeing where he was going. When he was finally able to stop, he began to swim again, saying, "I know what you mean. There's a couple of beta in my tank that are already planning their offspring's offspring's offspring. I think they should let fry be fry, and worry about that once they hit adulthood."

"I just wanna play, but momma says I'll be all grown up soon and that I should start acting more like a lady. 'Ladies don't wrestle with their brothers.'" Seren makes a face and mimics her mother. "I love momma but sometimes she just gets all baby obsessed, and I get a little scared."

They were getting quite close to Seren's home now, and Mect slowed his pace even further, not quite wanting the conversation to end. "You ought to tell her that you're going to wait until you're good and ready for babies." With a toss of his tail, he added, "Didn't your mom wait until she met the right beta before starting a family?" To his recollection, Seren and her siblings were the only offspring of a mated pair in their tank.

"Momma says that she's always had Daddy, as far back as she can remember, but he's the only beta she's ever had babies with. I wanna be just like momma and get mated before I have babies, too. I'm just afraid Momma's trying to find me a mate instead of letting me find one on my own." Seren pets the big pony's ears, looking around and recognizing her surroundings, knowing they're nearly to her home.

"Whoever your Momma finds, you still have to like them, so no worries there." He came close enough to see the entrance of her living areas, then stopped, and almost went cross-eyed trying to look up at her. "Looks like we're here, Seren."

The first question took him a little by surprise, and once Seren had dismounted, Mect looked down at her. "Why wouldn't you want to go home yet? Your family's here." There was an instinctive urge to paw at the sands, which was still strange to feel, considering he had nothing to paw with. "As for helping you, it's the least I could do. After all, you were kind enough to watch my routine."

"Well, because you're nice, and... and... and.. You're my friend." Seren swims forward to hug Mect quickly before darting back off towards her home. "Thank you again! I promise to come visit."

It surprised him again just how fast she was, for a non-pony fry, and she'd practically had the hug done before he had a chance to bring his fins up to return it. As she swam off, Mect raised a fin to wave at her, unconsciously waving his ears a bit as he did so. "I'm counting on it, girlie!"
There was a brief flicker of an idea in the back of his mind, something about speed and baby ponies, which was gone almost as soon as it started. Once she was out of sight, Mect turned and began to head back towards his own home.

*************************  Seren swam the now familiar way through the tanks alone, admiring her surroundings as she went. Growing closer to the other group's living quarters, she sees the home of a Dark blue pony beta she hadn't seen since she was little. Seren swims slowly up to his door, calling out softly, "Mect?"

A strange, evolved female came to the opening that Seren had approached, pausing a moment to look her over with dark green eyes. Then, with a toss of her short black hair, she called out over her shoulder, "Mect! Another one of your lady friends is here!" Flashing Serenata a brief smile, the woman swam off, in a slow swirl of green and orange.
"Which one, Raq--" The male pony drew up short when he finally got to the opening, eyes going wide. "S-seren? Is that you, girlie?"

Glancing in the direction the green female swam off in, Seren said, "It might be. I told you I'd visit." Seren wiggled her fins and swam around in a circle for Mect to see. "I'm all grown up now though. After I got lost and you brought me home she wouldn't let me out of her sights until I was bigger. What do you think?"
