Well, then... Hmm... As I see it, I have a few options, and two opposing goals.
Goal one: Kill the mutant and remove the threat. or Goal Two: recruit help of mutant and use him (it... I guess) as a guide.
options... A.) I can kill the mutant right now. This is the easiest, and safest option, but can cause problems later. B.) I could let my guard down and try to communicate with the mutant, and possibly be killed. C.) I can brandish the torch and bone in a defensive guard and try to communicate with the mutant, a much better decision than option B, but a great deal more threatening, reducing chance of successful communication. D.) I can simply either knock the mutant out or taser him into submission, then go look for food to make him more trusting. this has the risk of being attacked from behind later, while the chance of communication is possibly greater than even option B, as I will have food. E.) Technically, I have mutant appropriate food already. I could feed him the pet rat, thereby very likely inciting his aid immediately. However, I might need the pet rat later to go through a small crevice and trigger something inside...
... Hmm... what to do. If I were actually in this situation, I wouldn't have this time to think of an action, but in here, I do have that luxury. Let's go with option C, ad see what happens, because even after trying option C, I can easily switch to any of the other options. (although, I have a feeling you're going to make option C not work, just to see what I'll do next... and I already know what I'll do next.)

((This is obviously an unusual reaction, considering it had appeared hostile when you came around the bend.))
Exploring the catacombs, eh? Well best of luck to you; many a man's been eaten alive by here; the lucky ones mutate. *shrugs* You best watch out for the zombies, they'll give you some trouble. Any questions?

Supply ... oh. OH! That. Well just go West East through one room, South through another, West another three rooms, and then ... then ... *thinks* Well I'll be buggered. I can't remember where to go after that. I remember a path going North, one continuing West and one going South, but I'm not sure which one leads to the supply room. I suppose you'll just have to work it out once you get there.
You might find some weapons and other tidbits along the ground and in little pockets in the walls, so be sure to check every room. When you come across the zombies you'll be glad you did.
Anything else?

Do you know where I'm the most likely to run into those zombies? I'd rather not run into them any time soon... not until I'm ready.
Other than that, I think I'm good.
Hey, you want anything from that storeroom? You've been such a help, it would be rude of me not to offer you something in return. I just don't have anything I'm willing to part with at the moment...
((Drawing map... ... Also, did you totally not expect me to try and talk to the mutant? ... and when you said "west through one room" was the one room this room, J-10, or some room I haven't come to yet.))

I don't have much use for it these days. Zombies don't have a fancy for mutants; they don't like the taste. I feel so insulted. *harumph*

No. I haven't seen a Steve.
There was a skeleton in the room I came in, up through the trap-door in the ceiling north one room and west one room from here, whom I jokingly nick-named Steve. In my desperation to find weapons, I took this femur bone of his, and cleaned it so I might use it as a primitive club. Despite the alarming coincidence, though, I doubt that could be your brother. This skeleton still had flesh on it, and, since you said your little brother's been missing for over a year, had that been his skeleton it would have been almost fully decomposed, especially in these conditions. This skeleton was likely no more than 3 months old. I'll look for your brother, though. I'm sure he's still alive.
If I find him, how will I let him know where you are, I don't even know your name? I doubt he'd believe me if I just ran into him...
((Ha! Tried to put me in a sticky spot there, huh? Didn't work, did it?
...So... are those directions from this room? I still didn't get a straight answer to that...))

Skeleton eh? Some poor sucker got locked up, did he? Ah, life and death. Better the death; I'm sure whoever that was wouldn't have wanted to turn into a zombie.
Well, if you do see him, just tell him to go back to the village; we have a settlement just beyond the trap-laden tunnel from the Trap Door. You're welcome to rest and refresh yourself there - if you can get past the traps, that is.
Oh, by the way, it's Steve. If you drop by the village I'll show you around and you can meet my father, Steve; my uncle, Steve; my cousin, Steve; my ... Well, I don't want to spoil the surprise!

Okay. >(still in K-11) Search the room. What are my exits, other than east (if any), and do I see anything interesting? Also, I would like to check how much ammunition is in the pistol. From that room there's another exit going South. On the West wall of that room there seems to be a square chiselled out of it; might want to check it out.
And I'm no good with guns ... but that one's only got half the ammunition it should have.

I want to examine the west wall (and the chiseled square) closely, then.  Inventory: 1x Torch (Eq, LH) 1x Tazer 1x Cleaned femur (Eq, RH) 1x Cage with pet rat 1x Pistol with 6 rounds (let's say it's got a 12 round clip...)

Alright then. I want to un-equip the cleaned femur in my right hand and equip the pistol in it's place. Now, let's head East. What do I see.
