The silence that reigned for a few moments made Gemma's heart stop in her chest. Would her father tell him no? Would he deny...? Fear was beginning to bubble up in her system and Hienna could feel the antsy nature of her daughter coming to the surface and tried to calm her by giving a small nuzzle of her own. Then, her father spoke and she let out a slow breath that she hadn't realized she'd been holding. Gemma had expected her father to say yes or no - not give him the suggestion of asking her.
But when Leon turned to look at her, her eyes becoming lost in his and his voice becoming the only thing she heard. The silence stretched for only moments before the golden eyes forced themselves NOT to mist and be a perpetual sap that her brothers would only tease her for...But the sentimentalist in her just wouldn't allow it and they overflowed, over her cheeks.
"Yes."
Hienna simply gave a warm, proud smile and stood up to back away from the two young lovers, standing next to her mate, "Well, what do you know, Zaphiro. We did good."

"Well, Leon, I think you have your answer. Just remember, Gemma is a lady and should be treated with the respect she deserves." For one brief moment as he spoke, a glint of something hard crossed Zaphiro's gaze. After all, for all his trust and confidence in Gemma's choices, he was still her father; no stallion was going to get any fresh ideas about her as long as he had anything to say about it!
But as soon as the hardness had appered it was gone, replaced by a softer light as he watched Gemma, seeing her glow in the light that only affection and love could bring. It reminded him of another mare...
Smiling, he drew Hienna close, burying his muzzle into her mane and whispering, "So far, I'd say we have indeed. It's all up to her now...but so far, I must say I'm pleased."
Looking at the younger pair, Zaphiro found himself thinking of the days of his own early affection and how long ago that seemed, seeing the product of that love finding her own future. Yet at the same time, it all seemed so recent, the trials and triumphs both. Love was a dangerous game at times; you stood to lose a lot, but somehow, the reward always seemed to make things worth it.
