"I'm sure he'd agree." said Shadow from his perch on Durithill's shoulder. His voice had changed over the years so that, strangely enough, it wasn't as repulsive. It seemed almost normal, except with a beastly undertone. "I'm willing to bet being able to speak with his son made him very happy, even if it was for a short while." The creature shifted, then turned into a raven so he could keep his balance better. "Unfortunatly, Durithill cannot speak back to us. I guess it's something about the minds of children, but I haven't been able to talk to Durithill since the incident. It's been a while since I've seen you, too, for that matter. Why don't you rest here tonight? I daresay it's a good night for it." the creature said, looking up at the sky.

"Out.. here?" Shiero replied seeming slightly confused. Why would she stay outside? Raithill was inside alone... What if he woke up looking for his mother?

"I.. don't want to leave my son alone.." She mumbled to the raven perched on the statue's shoulder. She, however, found her body slowly sliding to the base of the frozen man, slumped into a comfortable position.

"What if he wakes up frightened from a nightmare? I want to be there for him.."

"Then be there for him." Shadow said simply. With that statement, he spread his wings and flew off into the night, leaving Raine alone with the statue. The wind blew again, making the flowers wave and the landscape look like it was moving. It looked almost like she was on some sort of colorful ocean.

The woman didn't move. Remaining here whe was, she was relatively comfortable, however, she was slightly chilled. The gentle night's breeze licked her bare arms and legs, causing a shiver to crawl involentarily up her spine.

"I would hear Raithill if he.. Woke up screaming.." She mumbled under her breath lightly. Besides, he rarely woke up from his deep sleep, and frightening nightmares were hardly experienced. Besides, the boy was shielded from the cruel society by his mother, there was nothing horrible in a child's mind to really dream about. Perhaps checking on her son would settle any uncertainties she had at the moment.

Standing from her comfortable position, Raine moved slowly from the tranquil area into the small cottage-like structure. Moving up the stairs silently, her hand trailling the railing calmly, as Shiero reached the top of the staircase, her eyes scanned the room, setting on her slumbering son. A small grin pulled across her features. He was perfectly fine, and that would be how he remained, like every night.

Her eyes shifted again, however this time they were firmly locked on the entrance to the attic. With cautious, slow movements, Raine moved across the room and into the attic. It was dark, which made everything the more difficult to see, therefore, she used her hands to help guide her way through the unfamiliar setting.

Seeking a long, slender box settled within a chest, Raine's hands found the enormus chest she was seeking, her fingers tracing down the center of it in search of the unlocked lock. Popping it open with ease, the motherly silhouette pulled a single box from the trunk. Pulling the lid from the white container, a wilted rose sat nestled in a bed of ivory silk. Removing the rose, Shiero set the empty box back into the chest before making her way back down onto the main floor, but not without checking on her son for a third time.

Holding the dead flower gently between her hands, Shiero moved silently throughout the house, placing the ebony rose on a small, wooden table next the door before she exited the cozy home, back into the field of flowers.

She would sleep well tonight, perhaps her dreams would be dreamless, or perhaps they would be happy... Settling at the feet of her carved love, Raine closed her eyes and exhaled before she whispered two words:

"Good night..."

As Raine started to drift off to sleep, the world around her seemed to still. When finally sleep overwhelmed her, naught remained but darkness. That is, untill a familiar voice spoke to Raine through her dream. "I bet you didn't know he talked to me." said with familiar voice with a tone of laughter. "He has been for a while. But of course, that's probably not what you're here to talk about, is it?" said Durithill's voice. It echoed slightly through the darkness of Raine's dream.

...Talk about?" She replied to the familiar voice. She was slightly confused... How many times had her son spoke to him? Her mind was running, it was like a intricate timer, she couldn't control what she thought or what happened so to say, it just... Happened.

Durithill.. Words soundlessly slipped passed her lips, like unclear murmers that were vaugely heard, but still distinguishable. She could hear him, but she couldn't see him.

You'll come back.. Won't you? She asked blindly before more words were spoken.

I'm sure... Your son would like to meet you in person. There was a hint of laughter in the woman's voice, she knew that there was limited time.. But it was so nice, just to hear his voice again without having to refer back to painful memories... It was like he was actually there next to her, not a figment in her mind..

"As would I like to meet him in person." Durithill replied. "Raine, I have limited time, so I'll get to the point. What happened 120,000 years ago, didn't quite happen as you might have thought." he said quickly. His voice seemed to be fading slightly, as if he was slowly getting further away from her. "In order to avoid Durimiros' fate, I split my soul into eleven peices before my petrification. One peice remains in my body, but the other ten were absorbed into the ten items I left behind and scattered throughout the realms. I cannot come back untill my soul has been returned to one peice." he said hurridly, his voice getting fainter all the time. "The items have begun to be found, restoring a small bit of my power. Go to the Realm of Light to visit an old friend, or college. Raine, never stop believing." As his voice trailed off, the darkness seemed to lift and the field came back into focus, still dark. The wind was blowing harder, though, chilling her to the bone. Durithill's statue simply smiled down at her, apparently unaware of the conversation it just had with her.

Wait-- no! Don't leave again! Her own pained voice rang out as he slowly began to fade. But it was as his voice disappeared completely that her azure eyes shot open, her mouth inhaling a deep breath. Was it the wind that woke her? Her body was rather cold.. Perhaps it was time to go inside..

Sitting upright with her hand placed against her forehead, the other hand layed flat on the shin of the statue, Raine took in a deeo breath before looking up at the smiling features.

"I never once forgot.." She muttered lowly.. What happened exactly? The thoughts that went on in her head while she slept were very vauge. Standing with the aid of the personificated stone, Shiero began towards the small home. What time was it? How long was she out here for?

"...Perhaps I should give Rathios a visit.." The woman mumbed to herself lowly, moving towards the stairs leading up to the second floor. Of course, her son was sleeping silently. A small smile pressed the woman's lips as she nodded to herself and whispered quietly, while turning down the sheets of her own bed.

"Yes, Raithill will be able to see another realm.. That would be a nice experience for him."

Raithill woke with a yawn the next morning. He sat up, causing his sheets to slide off his chest, and rubbed his eyes to try to get the sleep out of them. He got up and walked over to his closet, then quickly changed and walked out the door. As far as he could tell, his mother wasn't awake yet. Being a child, however, he often found he woke up before her anyway. He yawned again and proceeded down the stairs to the kitchen to try to sneak a snack in before breakfast. He stopped, though, when he noticed the flower in the middle of the table. He walked over and sat in front of it, unconsiously blocking the flower from veiw of the stairs. He stared at it in confusion, for there was now a bud on the end of the flower. But surely that hadn't been there the last time he'd seen it? And wasn't the flower dead? He rubbed his eyes again to make sure he wasn't still dreaming.

It took her some time, but she eventually got up as well. Her eyes fluttered open tiredly, her arms stretching up from beneath the sheets she was settled beneath. After a few moments of stretching and getting comfortable again beneath the sheets, Shiero sat up, the blankets falling off of her figure into her lap. Swinging her feet over the side of the bed, she could tell from the lack of snoring that Raithill was already up. The moment her bare feet touched the floor, she recoiled and pulled them back up under the covers for a moment.

Eventually getting used to the cold temperature in the room compaired to beneath the sheets, Raine got up and made her way down the stairs to greet her son, to tell him about their little adventure, so to say.

As Raine reached the bottem of the stairs, the motherly figure tilted her head in somewhat of a confused fashion. Raithill-- he was just standing there, what might he be staring at? Creeping up behind him, she placed her hands on his shoulders before leaning down a bit to kiss the top of his head like any loving mother would to their son.

"You ready to go?" She asked him, playing as if she had already told him of their journey the night before.. She merely expected him to ask where they were going, which only made a smile cross her lips.

Raithill jumped a little when Raine placed her hands on his shoulders. "Morning mommy!" he said, looking up at her. He seemed not to notice her comment, but instead extended his arm to point at the bud at the end of the stem of the flower. "I thought the flower was dead?" he asked, looking confused. "Did you get a new one?" The Raine's question seemed to sink in and he looked even more confused. "Go where?" he asked.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 01, 2007 6:42 pm

"It is, sweetie." Raine replied to her son, reaching down to ruffle Raithill's hair with a smile.

"But it means alot to mommy." She finished before leaning over a bit to pick her son up into her arms. He was getting bigger, which meant there would be less holding. She figured she should do it now while she still had a chance.

"We're going to go see one of mommy's old friends.. Remeber those plains we read about?"

"But..." Raithill protested slightly, pointing at the bud. He fell silent though when she picked him up again and his arm fell to his side. "The elemental plains?" he asked, looking up at her. "So we're going to one of the elemental plains? How are we getting there? Are we flying?" He looked at her with wide eyes full of curiousity, thinking maybe these other plains were just in the sky.

"You could say that.." She replied to her son, moving towards the door as his eyes grew wide in curiosity. Her footsteps were smooth and fluid, light enough to keep her son from being uncomfortable in her arms.

"You'll see..." She said with a light, happy tone in her voice.

Raithill squirmed excitedly in his mother's arms. "Who're we going to see?" Raithill asked, looking towards the door. As far as he could remember, no one had ever come to visit them. He'd just assumed that she'd lived here in the field and cottage forever. After all, he hadn't known about the other realms as well.
