Kouji and Nessa share an important discussion by moonlight...

Kouji paced restlessly some weeks later, outside of the den he and Nessa had made for themselves. His mind was in a state of unrest that it hadn't known before, despite being in the safety of his pack's territory once again. He kept dreaming of his family-pack's land, of his sisters, of his mother, of that b*****d...

Something in him just wouldn't rest, though! It was like... this... urge to.... get out and DO something, but what, and why did that tie in with his dreams and memories? Was this how Talia felt when she struck out on her own with--

That managed to stop Kouji, mid step. Oh...

He stood facing the light of a moonbeam, which, in their clearing was not hindered by the canopy of trees.

Nessa had stirred lightly as her azure pelted mate paced in front of the den. The young shewolf had caught a quick nap after supper and was just waking up. As she felt her mind awaken to it's usual lucid state, she twitched an ear at the softest noise of paw-steps, back and forth, to and fro. A small smile crossed her face. That would be Kouji. She wondered what was keeping him awake, she would have expected him to have joined her in an evening nap, then perhaps a midnight romp, and then sleep. Something had to be on his mind. She could just see that adorably trouble expression playing on his face.

--She was his! A sudden flutter hit her heart. The past weeks had been wonderful... too wonderful for the female to imagine. She loved her family, she did, but the adrenaline, the elation of leaving her homelands she couldn't deny. The thrill of being with the wolf she loved and... well...

Her countenance assumed quite a plucky appearance at her new treasured memories. But, oh... her father would kill her if he knew. The navy coated she docked an ear, but familial regret was swept away on the breeze as her thoughts wandered back to Kouji. Pulling herself into a crawling position, the slender female drew out of the den, and towards her lover's side.

"Kouji," She said softly, and paused before venturing into a splash of moonlight. "Is something wrong?"

Not a moment went by that they were together that Kouji wasn't amazed, grateful that Nessa chose to stay with him. He had never felt so elated, or liberated. He knew that she was younger than he by at least a year, but to him it just didn't matter. The fact was that Nessa was strong, intelligent, beautiful, and fully capable of being independent. She could surely decide for herself what was in her best intrest. That she picked him....

So when she came to his side, softly inquiring his condition, Kouji looked to her with soft surprise. The moonlight, as she stepped into it's warmth, reflected in her eyes, giving them a more luminent apperance, adding a shimmering gleam to her well kept coat. "I've had a lot on my mind recently, is all."

The male shifted on his paws to lightly nudge and then lap her muzzle.

"I just got lost in thought." He reassured, smiling a bit at the sight of his mate. His....

Nessa gave a gentle laugh, coming up to butt her body softly into her mate's. She brushed her cheek against Kouji's shoulder, her thickly feathered tail wagging in a couple lazy beats. "What have you been thinking about?"

Catching his golden gaze with her own, she tried to read the complex expression upon his face. He looked wonderful in this moonlight, his azure coat polished by the silvery beams. As he licked at her muzzle Nessa felt a warm glow inside. She couldn't remember a time when she had been so happy. Growing up really hadn't been too bad at all.

"I thought I was the one you had to worry about getting lost." She grinned mischievously at his statement, then reduced it to a smile, sensing there was some serious reason behind his musings. "But really, is everything alright?" Nessa's olive eyes were a subdued gray-green in the night, but it was apparent that they were filled with nothing but soft love for this wolf in front of her.

Kouji snuffed softly through his nostrils, lightly tossing his head and turning to comb his teeth through some of her fur harmlessly.

"I'm not the only one keeping my promise." He chuckled, letting his mind sort through how he wanted to word his answer to her question. Her eyes gave off a sense of home. Being with her made him feel like they needed to find a place to call their own. It just wasn't in his blood to be a follower, and now that he had Nessa with him (Smart, capable, kind-hearted, brave, and lithe) he felt like... like he was ready for something that he'd been running away from for a long time now.

Kouji's azure and white painted tail began to gently fan at the air, ocassionally brushing against hers as they crossed paths.

"I was thinking about the pack, the one where I was born."

Kouji had never actually found the right time to tell Nessa about how he came to the Shaoilin Woods. She'd been too young before, and he was nervous about bringing it up for some reason, until now. Just wait for the right time, that's what his mind kept saying.
