Chapter 3

"Are you nuts?!" I shouted. A few customers looked at me angrily.

"It's the perfect idea! You can play bass, right? I know a guy who plays guitar. And Kitty plays drums. Why does it sound so crazy?"

"Because, Jimmy! Besides, what would you do?" I fought for my case.

"I could sing."

"YOU?! HA!" I laughed in my friend's face.

"Hmph!" Jimmy grunted. "I'm a great singer. Who says I'm not? But fine, stay working at Hot Topic forever and never be remembered for anything." He folded his arms and turned away.

"I'll think about it," I said loudly, but mumbling.

That day I went to Gerard's house again. I had pretty much moved in by now.

Gerard was on the phone.

"Okay, so Friday?" There was a pause. "Okay, where?" Pause. "Okay, see you Friday."

He hung up and then picked up the phone to call another person.

I loudly cleared my throat. "Oh, hey, Lyn-Z, hang on, I've just gotta make a few phone calls."

I nodded, threw my bad on the couch, and listened to his coversation.

"Hey, Ray. I had this idea. I wanna know if you're into it. Mikey's in. I just gotta call Matt. You play guitar right? Drums? Aw d@#&. Oh, good. You're not rusty now, are you? Haha. So here's my idea. We form a band. I was just thinking.......we're not doing anything special with our lives. Besides, Mikey came up with this awesome idea at Barnes&Nobles. We call the band...yeah. We call it My Chemical Romance. I know, isn't that awesome! Mikey rules. Although he was also thinking New London Fire, but I prefer My Chemical Romance. Yeah, it just rolls off the tounge! So you in? Awesome! Meet at Mikey's place this Friday. Yeah, day after tomorrow. Cool, see you there."

He hung up.

Then he called Matt to tell him his idea.

It sounded as if Matt was in, too.

"So, Gerard. You starting a band?"

"Yeah, isn't that an awesome idea?"

"Boys, boys boys. Not too bright are they? My friend Jimmy wants to start a band."

"What's it gonna be called?"

"We don't know yet. But he wants me on bass."

"I think you should do it."

"Maybe. I suppose I'll go to a few practices. Can I use the phone?"

"Sure," Gerard said, waving his hand toward the phone.

"Thanks," I said, punching Jimmy's number into the phone. I waited for it to ring.

I told Jimmy that I would join. He was happy. "And listen to my idea for a name," Jimmy said.

"What? Mindless Self Lovin'?"

"Oh....my god. That was so close I think my eyes are bleeding. Mindless Self Indulgence."

"That has a nice ring to it. I'll see you," I stopped to think. "Friday."

Oh, thank you! I had that idea, like, a week ago in school, but never got around to typing it.
