Red Kasei Heavenly Femme I can usually finish a book off very quickly ONLY IF I'M INTERESTED! Seriously... if it just isn't my type of book... it'll take me forever and I'll keep putting it off like it's a really dreadful task. Dx Same here. Also, if I lose interest, I just put the book aside and leave it for when I feel like reading it. That's what I did with the book I was reading, but I forgot about it. It had wedged itself between my bed and my wall. I felt so bad. D;

For me, it depends more on the writing style than the length of the work. For example, Weis and Hickman's books are usually shorter than the later Harry Potters, but while I knock out a Potter book a day, Weis and Hickman's novels can take a week, especially if RL is busy.

Well, of course it depends on the readability of the book and how much the subject interests me, but my average lies around 150 pages per hour. That means that an average-sized book (300 - 500 pages is what I call average) takes me two to three hours. I'm a fast reader. =] Deathly Hallows took me five hours.

Like everyone else, if I really like the book I'm reading, I'll fly right through it. Once, when I was in high school, I took Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson out of the school library during a first period study hall, and finished the book two minutes after sitting on the bus to go home that day. On the opposite end of the spectrum, books I'm not that fond of seem to drag on forever. I guess it's true when they say "time flies when you're having fun".

I couldn't really tell you, but I know I'm not a fast reader. The times I try to go quickly through paragraphs I end up needing to re-read what I had just read. I would like to say a page a minute, but I guess it just depends on the book? It all depends on how concentrated I am. When I'm really concentrated I could probably try for a page and a half a minute.

I read Deathy Hallows in 4 hours, and while I picked up all of the plot, there were some subtle things that I didn't pick up on until my thorough second read through (which took 6-7 hours). I blazed through it the first time because I was afraid of having it spoiled for me! I usually read things pretty thoroughly, but since I knew I would read Hallows again almost immediately, I went as fast as I could.
My speed really depends on what I'm reading; I read juvenile and young adult stuff faster than adult fiction because Juv/YA tends to be more straight forward and easier to follow. I'm slow with textbooks because, well, they're often boring, and I find myself having to go back and re-read pages I just finished. With non-fiction, I'll often read the words without thinking about the meaning, and I'll find myself lost. I'm a lot slower with those books.

It takes me so long to finish books its unbelievable. Say a 200 page book will take me like 4-5 hours. I get really frustrated because I would like to finish books pretty fast but its impossible. When I was 10 my teacher read us the first Harry Potter and she took like 30 seconds per page.

I'm quite the fast reader, but it does depend on the book... I can read 600 pages in one sitting, if need be. If I really love a book, I can't put it down. If I'm distracted, I can get about 30 pages in before I wander to something else.

A book less than 200 pages I can read in less than 2 hours... A book between 200-300 pages can probably be read in a day... A book between 400-600 pages will probably take me between 2-4 days... Depends on whether or not I like the book, though...

i can read an average size teen book in 3 hours with no interuptions at all..i can read an anne rice book in 3 days if in interested in the book with no interruptions but food...harry potter took me about 20 hours to read because i took my time to get every detail...every person is differnt when they read a book. I read manga in half an hour however it takes one of my friends to read it in a day ( manga books arent that hard to read at all) i love being able to be stuck in a good book for hours if i am really hooked to the book than i put it in my mental library to recommend to people to read later on.

I like to think that I am a pretty fast reader. On average I can get through a book in two days or so depending on how much stuff is going on in my life. That's including the hours I have to go to work and do normal things like eat, hang out with friends, and keep up with my housework. Now, if I am really, REALLY into the book I have been known to stop all normal activities and do things like...read in the car(at stoplights of course), on my lunch break at work, during movies, during dinner, and even not sleeping in order to finish the book. If I do that...then I could probably knock out a book in less than a day.

If I'm really into a book it'll take me one or two days to finish it. But usually I take a couple weeks.

I actually read "Breaking Dawn" in one day and "Acheron" (by Sherrilyn Kenyon) in two days. They had both just come out and were highly anticipated and I couldn't wait. As soon as I finished one, the library called and said the other was ready. I used to go through books fast in the past but that was the first time since I started my current job (over a year ago) that I was able to absorb such big books. I used to go through three paperback romances in a day, and I even stayed up all night when I read the first three Harry Potter books. My aunt had gotten them for me when I was fifteen and it wasn't that popular yet. I couldn't understand why she got me these kids books and they sat on my shelf for a while. Finally, out of boredom, I cracked open the first one and couldn't put them down until I finished the third. It took me about eight hours or so. Then I was antsy to find out what happened next, but the fourth hadn't been released yet. I was so depressed. crying

I have to agree with what most people are saying that how fast I read depends on what I am reading and where I am and what is going on around me. I can usually read a 200-300 page book in a normal school day.
