Thorn woke up in her room "tomorrow will be my 21st birthday. It will make this be my 4th birthday since i arrived in this dreadful pace." Thorn said to herself. She got herself ready and slowly sulked down the stairs. Just as she had reached the bottom of the stairs she heard a few people talking Thorn remembered those voices it was Wes and Dantaye but she didn't know who the third voice was. As Thorn entered the tavern she went over and sat down next to Dantate making sure to leave Wes alone to his drinking. " Who's the new kid guys? I've never seen him hear before." turning to the bartender Thorn told her "I'll have the usual thanks." Then turning her cold stare back to the new kid.

"Oh hey Thorn, and birthday wishes to ya. The fresh face calls himself Cam Davids and Wes suggested I tell him about the Oasis." Dantaye could remember Thorn's birthday easily, it was the day after her own. Anyone else was hard to keep up with.

Cam shot a look at Wes. "Well, if you don't have vehicles, why don't you try and build something? I mean come on, I can make a low altitude plane with a sled, some canvas, wood, steel, and an engine" he explained, taking another drink of whiskey. "Or a sled, wheels, an engine, more steel and wood, and I have a dune buggy. Its not hard, you just gotta know what you're doing"

"Well I'd have to agree with Wes..." Dantaye shrugged taking a drag off her cigarette, "Even if you had a vehicle you'd just end up driving around in the desert. You'd run out of supplies eventually and you'd probably land yourself in..." She paused, not wanting to finish the sentance, "Wes is right, you'd be better off using a vehicle to get to the Oasis."

Cam stayed silent, thinking. "And do we have vehicles?" he asked, looking into the bottle of whiskey in front of him.

"Not that I know of...but if we did, that would be the best aim." Dantaye ordered a rum and coke and leaned back against the bar.

" i going to tell you something kid you'd be better off just living in peace here. It's not too awful once you've been here for awhile but if you really want to get back to your home then be my guest I could tell you from experince that it's oh so very easy to get lost in that desert out there. Very few people who end up here ending up getting back to their home friend and family. I've only know one person who has seen the toll booth more than once now that is a very rare thing." Chuging down her drink Thorn asks for some rum then turns back to the new kid. " sorry if i ruined all your hope of getting home but that's the cold hard truth kid." chuging down the rum that was put in front of her Thorn stands up and walks out of the tavern out of the hotel and into the desert.

Wes threw the bottle in front of him into the back wall. "This s**t isn't working!" He excalimed, then, more calmly: "Yeah, let me pull an engine out of my pocket here... wait, we don't have any of those either..." He got up and headed towards the door. "If anybody's up for a spar I'll be at the south doors." he said as he left the tavern.

"Whats with him?" Cam asked in a low voice, nodding at Wes as he left. "And I'm a mechanic...or used to be, before I appeared in this hotel...with the right amount of stuff and time, I could make a vehicle?" he offered, looking up at Dantaye.

"I think Wes has been here the longest out of all of us..." Dantaye looked at the hallway, now void of Wes, "And I suppose if you had the right amount of stuff, there's no shortage on time around here, in theory you could make a vehicle. But there's a good chance you won't get the right stuff. If you did I wouldn't put my time into looking for that phone booth."
Dantaye put her cigarette out in a nearby ash tray. Thorn was right, it wasn't too bad after a while and there was always the more reasonable goal of the Oasis. She thought of the last two years before mubling something and falling quiet.

Cam nodded, looking back at the bar. He reached for his watch, which was unlike most. Instead of glass or plastic over the watch, and a backing blocking the internals, the whole inside of the watch was exposed, with two bright white hands. He reached into his pocket for his penknife, flicked open the screwdriver attachment, and, desperate for something to do, started taking his watch apart.

Out in the desert Thorn heads south to visit the place where she first saw the the phone booth. After walking for awhile she stops to rest. " It isn't so bad here if you don't mind a bunch of sand dunes everywhere. It isn't so bad at all" Thorn mumbles to herself. Thorn sat down and took a sip from the bottle she took from the bar before she had left. Thorn laid down and basked in the sun's light and she started dozing off.

Dantaye sighed and stepped out of the bar and headed toward the south doors. She wasn't looking to spar, just some kind of activity. The new guy had brought with him, not only a fresh face, but he'd seemed to remind her of the inevitability of living the rest of her days here.

Cam looked up, realizing he was alone in the bar. He got up, grabbed his watch, gears, and knife from the table, and walked fast to catch up to Dantaye. "Hey, hold on! What exactly is the Oasis, and what else is there out there?" he asked as soon as he caught up.

Wes leaned against the south wall of the building, gazing at the oasis in the distance. his attention was caught as he saw a figure lying down on the horizon. his mind flashed with images of his experiences in the dream zone, and without thinking he started sprinting to the figure, seeing it was Thorn as he got closer.
