It was nearly a week since Itsuki had come home with his new weapons and the boy kept himself quite secluded in his room. Ian had begun to worry, he did not like to be interrupted during his "training" and he interacted with her even less than before. His temperment wasn't as harsh, however, but she was sure that it was just due to the lack of time he spent talking to her at all. As much as Ian hoped he would warm up to her, she felt rather hopeless about the situation. This particular Sunday morning was no different as she woke up and ate her childish cereal infront of the television. When she was through, and after her failed attempts to coax Itsuki out for breakfast, she went to go check her mail. Upon opening her door she remembered, just like every Sunday, that the post didn't arrive on this day. "Anou... I've got to remind myself of this, somehow." She sighed, embarrassed at her own stupidity. However, as she hung her head she noticed a box wrapped in black paper and tied in red ribbon infront of her shoes. Curiously she picked up the box and lead it inside, closing the door behind her. "This is strange. Maybe someone dropped this off at the wrong house? Its not my birthday, is it? Eeto..." She tried to think of a reason when she remembered what date it would be tomorrow. "Valentine's Day?" Ian was baffled. Didn't girls usually give gifts and chocolate to men on this day, not the other way around? "Besides, I never found black to be a very... erm, romantic color." She continued to stare at the box and remembered the little detail about her not knowing any men in the first place, producing a sweatdrop on her forehead. Ian was tempted to open the box just to settle her confusion and curiosity once and for all but the moment her hand touched the red ribbon to unravel the gift, a dark feeling fell into her stomach. Fear washed over her and she held her breath, recognizing this strange feeling from back when she first had the mirror... "What's in the box?" Slowly, Ian's eyes lifted to find the voice and the strange feeling soon subsided when she rested her gaze on Itsuki. He was wearing the black sleeveless turtleneck she bought him and he had his hair in a rare ponytail, but nothing else had actually changed about his appearance. She did her best to dismiss the feeling and set down the gift on the coffee table. "I-I don't know. ...Do you want to open it? Who knows who its for." "... Hn," he responded and walked calmly towards the table and picked up the box. Ian stiffened in place, feeling the sensations come back when Itsuki stepped forward. He unwrapped the paper and ribbon and leveled his eyes at her, raising an eyebrow. "What's your problem?" "N-nothing." It must be since I haven't seen him much lately, she reasoned with herself. Just being paranoid as usual, she figured. He shrugged it off and opened the box to find a dagger shrouded in a black... aura? When he reached inside to remove the dagger, his fingers passed right through the whispy dark air and he removed the weapon from its spot. He noticed a piece of old parchment attached to the hilt of the dagger with words written in blood red ink. He immediately noted the fancy nature of the handwriting and decided it to be most likely feminine. the note Greetings. I thought perhaps you would like something to attack me with besides a fork. I believe that it shall soon be Valentine's Day. I do not fully understand exactly what this is, but I felt that it was a good time to send this. I made it myself. The jewl on the hilt matches your eyes nicely, don't you think so? I think you can guess, if not by this note then by the shadows around the dagger, who this is from. The shadows will not leave the dagger unless I command them to do so. They won't interfere with its use or anything, but they serve as my signature.
I believe that you should soon come over. If you do not remember the way, the shadows will show you. Just hold the dagger and speak my name and they will guide you to me. Simple, yes? Its a neat trick that I learned since we last met. I look foward to your visit...
Yeste' Tel' Avathar Itsuki blinked and rolled the name over his tongue. "Yeste'..." His eyes traced back to the dagger and decided he would honor her offer. Any girl that gives you knives can't be that bad...He walked back to his room, carrying the dagger and gawking at it fixedly, leaving Ian alone in the room once again. "...I think I need some air..." She frowned and head out the door, deciding to go check her mail.

Yesterday, I continued to train with Mana and I've even done more training on the roof of the apartment building. I know I've been getting better, since I haven't fallen off the roof again. Luckily it's only three stories high and I landed in that tree... Erm, let's not talk about that. But even better, I got a strange gift, too. The shadow girl I met in my failed break-in gave me a dagger and says her name is Yeste'. Pretty nifty name if I say so myself. Even better, she gave me a knife. She wants me to see her and how can I say no now? I've decided to go today. Ian said she had something to give me today... I wonder what she's got planned. Just when I thought she couldn't get any weaker, she started acting very... vulnerable yesterday. Yeah, she's always nervous around me but more than usual since then. I don't know what her problem is. Maybe she's seen how stronger I've got? Eh. Girls are just weird. Maybe this Yeste' girl is different... she isn't a sissy, that's for sure. We'll see what happens, Ian's calling me.

 Something is definitely wrong.
I can't believe I thought that Itsuki was treating me civilized lately. Of course he was, he rarely saw me. The full impact of his training didn't hit me until yesterday.
It should have clicked the moment I felt it... That feeling...
I never wanted to feel that way again but now, I realize that it means Itsuki is getting stronger. ...H-he's evil, isn't he? There's no other explanation for the mirror and the sensations... He's just becoming more aware and stronger. I hope the feeling won't keep coming back or I might not be able to withstand him.
.... I do miss seeing him plopped on the sofa with a cup of ramen and watching the news. I hope to lighten him up a little bit by giving him some giri-choco today. I wonder how he'll like chocolate...

Itsuki strolled out of his room after putting away his journal and walked to the front of the apartment. He noticed his caretaker looking strangely happy while holding a small box in her palm. When the Simu finally made his way over, she offered the box to him.
"Happy Valentine's Day!"
"..."
A few moments of awkward silence passed between them consisting of Ian forcing her to retain her enthusiastic smile, hand outstretched, and Itsuki staring at her and the box as if they were doing a poor attempt of the Electric Slide.
It was Ian who finally broke the silence as she forced the box into Itsuki's gloved palm. "This is the part where you chirp in and say, 'For me? Gee, you're the best!'"
"Sorry, nobody gave me the script," he replied sarcastically as he eyed the small box. "What is Valentine's day?"
"Its a day when girls give guys chocolates and gifts to show that they care. What I gave you is giri-choco, which is a casual, obligatory gift. You give honmei-choco to someone you really do like."
Itsuki carefully opened to box to find, sure enough, a small heart shaped piece of chocolate. He noted one of Ian's emoticon facies she liked to write carved into the chocolate and couldn't help but to shake his head. "Good, girls need to give us stuff." He then remembered the dagger he received the other day. So that was a Valentine's Day gift? ...... I wonder if it was a giri or honmei-choco? He wondered to himself, not realizing that choco, surprisingly enough, referred to chocolate and not a generic gift. Despite this mix up, the thoughts were genuine and the thought of receiving a honmei-whatever made blood rush to Itsuki's cheeks.
Ian promptly screeched.
"W-what?!" Itsuki jumped at her loud wail, totally caught off guard during his thought process. One of these days, he was going to kill for things like this.
"... I've.. I've never seen you blush! I didn't think it was possible..."
He blinked and responded intelligently, "....Uh?" He was blushing? Well, the thought of a girl liking him... This was definitely uncharted territory, here...
Look, just don't think about anything like that. Its too confusing and too much to deal with... I've got more important things to focus on right now. Just a gentle reminder and he was sure his thoughts would be right back on track.
Nope.
Itsuki sighed and looked at the chocolate again. This made everything different now and his mind was about to melt. Subjects like these did not compute well with the Simu and he looked extremely young and vulnerable since being exposed to the influences of the great St. Valentine.
"I-I'm going out." The boy announced and did just that--walk out of the apartment door. His way down the stairs was filled with arguementive thoughts trying to figure out if a dagger qualified as honmei and whether or not that it mattered at all. "Training is the only thing important now. I've got to become better... at everything. That way Ura will be proud of me when I see him next." Yes, that's right. There's nothing else to think about.
But then, why did he have a hard time thinking about anything else but Valentine's Day?

the visit to yeste's house Yeste' stood on the balcony outside her room (which was on the second floor and faced foward, on the same side that the doors were), she left the double glass doors that were covered by heavy black drapes wide open. She wore no coat as the weather was getting warmer, and she enjoyed the chilly wind whipping her hair wildly behind her. Noises came from inside Yeste's room, the soft sound of a piano, though there was no such thing in her room. The sound (more specifically Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, 1st Movement) came from a small black stereo who's volume was turned up reletively high. Yeste' was relaxing, standing on her balcony and listening to Beethoven. She closed her eyes and slowly started rocking back and forth in the middle of the balcony then, as the song became more lively she began to move around, slowly starting to waltz by herself. She was imagining though, that she was in a grand hall full of people in beautiful dresses surrounded by royalty at a ball and that she was dancing with... someone. Yeste' smiled to herself as she waltzed, not paying any attension to anything except the music and her fantasy. It didn't take long for Itsuki to reach the forest outside Durem once he left his apartment. Being a Simu of pride, Itsuki decided he knew which way to go and didn't even take the dagger out of its place in the waistband of his pants. However, he wasn't paying attention at all to where he was walking, most likely being subconciously guided after all by the weapon in question. Instead of looking ahead, the boy was concentrating on the small heart shaped chocolate in his palm. He was wiping it clean of any markings and thinking back to his conversation with Ian earlier. The poor boy had never been so confused and flustered since he arrived from the mirror and forgot where he was even heading. He still managed to continue in the right direction, though. Save for a few good whacks by some lowlying tree branches, he was good to go. Yeste' was completely lost in her daydream and completely visable to anyone who might be walking towards her home. She had, unfortunately, set the stereo on 'repeat' so she wouldn't stop her waltz until she was interrupted or fell victim to fatigue. She spun and stepped slowly in time with the music, the skirts of the long black dress she wore fanning out at the bottom as she did so. Fortunately for her, the snow was pretty much melted (at least in the forest) and the weather was getting warmer so being out on the balcony in a sleevless black silk dress wasn't cold. She didn't know why she wore the dress, she simply had decided that morning when she woke that she wanted to. She didn't need a reason, she just did. The dress in question wasn't anything very fancy besides the silk. It was sleevless, with a built in corset as she and Sao were so fond of, and a sown in slip. She wore laced up high-heeled boots with the dress (which held a nifty little surprise), and black gloves that reached to her elbows that had blood red ribbon laced through metal eye-holes. A red ribbon held the girl's hair up in a bun in the back, but two strands of hair had been allowed to frame her face. Though there was nothing fancy to her, it didn't seem so as she glided across the balcony to Beethoven. As he stared in the chocolate in question, he pulled out one half of Mana and carefully carved his name in kanji on the piece carefully. Replacing the blade back into his pocket, Itsuki could have sworn he was hearing... music? He stopped where he was walking as he could see a large house not too far infront of him between the greenery of the forest. His thoughts were, thankfully, interrupted for now as he realized just where he had decided to head. "...." Slowly, Itsuki continued to walk towards the house, hearing the music growing louder as he grew closer. As the sounds got closer, they also became more distinct and he started to wonder if there was a party being held at the estate. Itsuki lifted his gold eyes to a balcony in which the music seemed to be stemming from. There must've been a party indeed, but apparently there was only one person attending as he watched the young girl twirl and slide gracefully infront of his eyes. Just who was she? There was something oddly familiar about her but he was sure he hadn't seen such an elegant young lady before... Itsuki couldn't do anything but watch as he stopped infront of her balcony, holding the small chocolate in his hand. Yeste' opened her eyes breifly as she spun around and saw Itsuki standing below her balcony. It took her a second spin before she snapped out of her daydream and the fact that he had seen her dancing sunk in. She stopped suddenly, though gracefully, the bottom of her dress continuing to spin without her for a moment before coming to a halt as well. She walked to the rail of the balcony and leaned over a bit, looking down at Itsuki. Unknown to her, she was blushing a bit... Yeste' stared at him with her mismatched eyes wide for a few moments before she shook her head and regained her calm composure. "Greetings..." She called to him, not really knowing what to say besides that. The whole situation was strange to him. Maybe it was the setting, the music, her dress, or the day... but it felt odd in some way. Or the way she was leaning against the railing... as if this was all from a fairy tale. But he didn't read many of those, so Itsuki was at a loss. "...Hi there." Hm, well at least that part was done. As for anything else... well, he had no clue how to advance with the episode at hand. The boy wasn't sure why it was awkward to him, but he decided it better to survey the land around him and take in the appearance of her abode before looking at her again. Awkward-awkward, say something... Oh, right. "H-happy Valentine's Day?" Itsuki cocked his head to the side, as if searching for a little approval, "...I got your gift. ....Thank you." The words sounded foreign to him when he spoke, but the feeling was there. Yeste' was glad she was high enough up that he couldn't see her blush. She chastised herself in her head before she smiled at Itsuki. "Happy Valentines Day" Yeste' replied. She was glad that he liked it. She put her elbow on the railing and rested her chin in her hand as she looked down at Itsuki. "Well then, I don't suppose you came all the way out here just to stand down there... Hold on." Yeste' pushed off of the rail and through her balcony doors and turned off her stereo as she left her room. In a minute or so Yeste' appeared at the front doors and opened one as they were very large and (though made of wood) kind of heavy. Itsuki watched the young girl disappear and looked around again at his surroundings. He began to over-analyze everything again before he was thankfully interrupted a minute later by the girl pushing open one of the large doors. He got a better look at her and noted how different she looked from their first meeting. It was at this time that Itsuki remembered about the chocolate. "Oh.. I have something for you. Its not much." The boy extended his hand and offered the small chocolate in the small box he was holding in the palm of his hand. Yeste' took the chocolate with a smile. "Thank you." She hadn't expected him to get her anything and was very pleased, even with a simple chocolate. Yeste' stepped back against the door and motioned with her hand (the one without the chocolate in it) for Itsuki to come in. Itsuki nodded and stepped in, looking around. He found himself overwhelmed by the size of the place, used to his small apartment with only two small rooms. He looked over at Yeste' to see if there was anywhere in particular she wished to lead him. However, he didn't want to look helpless, so he decided some conversation would be in order, even if it wasn't his strongest point. "Do you live here alone? ...Well, I mean, other than your caretaker. It was a woman, right?" He was doing his best to remember clues she might have given off on their first meeting. Yeste' motioned for him to follow her as she made her way towards one of the grand stair cases. "Well... kind of... there is Ereki, Tsume, and Saffron..." Yeste' shrugged. "They aren't exactly people, so I don't think they would count." She led him up the stairs and down a long hallway until they reached a closed wooden door which Yeste' proceeded to open and walk through. This room seemed to be Yeste's room. The carpet in here was blood red, and the walls black. The very large bed against the center wall was covered in a large black velvet blanket. There was a red and black theme in this room, as if one could not tell. Yeste' continued through the room, after she sat the chocolate on her nightstand, and out the doors to the balconey where she had been dancing before. Itsuki followed her closely and was not surprised by the color scheme when they entered her room. At her explanation, he nodded, figuring them to be pets or something of that nature. At least having others must have been... exciting. When he stepped through her room, though, he felt strange. The boy regarded bedrooms as private sanctuaries of their owners. So, to be invited into her room by this girl... Itsuki didn't have time to ponder on it much before he found himself following Yeste' out to the balcony. He was rewarded by a wonderful view of the forest and he appreciated the sight. Being this high was pleasant enough, though he wished he had a balcony of his own. The Simu walked over to the railing and leaned back against it, looking up at the sky between the treetops. Itsuki felt oddly serene with the setting and allowed himself a small smile. He was about to deem the situation perfect when he found something was missing... Going through each sense to see which one was unfulfilled, he realized that it was rather silent. Some music would be nice, like the kind earlier, and these thoughts lead him to remembering the girl's dancing. Looking over to Yeste', the boy inquired curiously, "Do you dance often?" He had a habit of assuming others were following his train of thought, so he didn't find the question odd or out of the blue. Yeste' looked down at the floor and then cocked her head to the side as she looked up at Itsuki. "Well... yes..." She paused a moment to see what his expression was like. She hadn't wanted anyone to see her dancing. You should have thought of that before you started prancing around out on the balconey like a ninny! Yeste' usually danced in the ballroom, where it was much easier to imagine a grand ball and such, and where the music echoed off of the high dome celing; and she always made a note to lock the door before she did so... Usually she wouldn't be so embarrassed by anything she did, but for some reason dancing was the exception. She felt that she had to give off a cold as ice, hard as stone kind of thing to people, and dancing didn't help add to that image... He just nodded in response and looked up again, thinking about it. He watched Ian dance some, but she just looked like a nut when she did and so Itsuki found it worth watching for the amusement. However, seeing Yeste' dance brought a whole new interpretation to the activity to him. Seeing her twirl and slide across the floor made him think of nothing less than grace and beauty, so he decided that dancing wasn't something bad at all. He didn't find it odd for someone like her to be doing that, as he assumed he must not have known her too well once he saw her in the dress. The boy smiled again as he thought of her dancing to the music, wondering how it must have felt and if anyone else was capable of looking that graceful when doing it. "...It was nice. Seeing you dance." He didn't look away from the canopy of limbs and leaves, continuing to smile to himself. Yeste's cheeks turned bright red and she looked down in hopes that he wouldn't see. She didn't know what to say... Gha! Yeste', say something you ninny! Yeste' smiled at Itsuki, even though he wasn't looking. An idea had just popped into her head. "Would you... like to..." Yeste's voice was quiet, and she was fumbling over the words in her head. "Umm... dance?" He let go of the smile in response to her request and he turned his head to look at her, half expecting her to be joking. He wasn't upset, but taken off guard at such a suggestion. Dancing wasn't just a girl thing? Apparently not. ...Apparently it was also something that could be done in pairs. He was learning much today... "I... I've never." It was the best he could respond with and he stood up straight, curious of her nervousness and startled at the prospect of him dancing. Though, she looked as if she had enjoyed dancing so, maybe... "...I wouldn't mind learning, however." Yeste' smiled and walked into her room quickly and turned on the stereo, though she turned it to a different song, one that was more of a waltz than the other. The music was interesting, the different instruments seemed to echo eachother back and forth, as if arguing or speaking. The composer of this song was called Vivaldi, and the song was Allegro in D. Yeste' liked this song very much, and often heard Sao in the ballroom playing it on her violin accompanied by the larger stereo downstairs. Yeste' hurried back onto the balconey and thought a moment. Teaching someone how to dance was going to be harder than actually dancing... "Ok... what I was doing is called a waltz. Waltzes are usually done in pairs." She stepped closer and grabbed Itsuki's hands (bitting her lip so she didn't blush too much) and held one loosely in one hand and set the other one on her hip, then put her hand on his shoulder. "This is... where one's hands should be positioned when waltzing..." Yeste' explained. "The steps are simple, all one has to do is count '1-2-3'. Its basically a square step. Most waltzing music has steady beats that one can count like that to, or that counts naturally..." Yeste' looked at Itsuki to see if he understood. Itsuki was not used to touching people, in fact, he rarely even touched Ian and so found the contact foreign to him. However, it wasn't unpleasant so he rested his hands where instructed and nodded when she spoke. He picked things up fast and listened attentively when being taught, this time was no different. He had a mission now, even if it was just something as simple as learning how to dance. "I'm going to lead, so just follow me... I'll talk you through it. Usually the male leads..." Yeste' took a moment to think of how to explain this to him. "Ok... when I step foward you take a step backward with the foot infront of mine that is stepping. This is basically a box step... like this." Yeste' released herself from Itsuki's grip and took a few steps back, raising her dress a bit so the boy could see her feet. She stepped foward with one foot, then brought the other foot foward then moved one foot behind the other to the side and brought the stray foot around, then she stepped back and did the same thing to the other side. "That is the begining of a waltz. But the steps should be smooth and long. And on the third count one adds a turn... try the box step first..." Itsuki watched her feet closely then looked back up at her when she stopped. "...I think I understand." He took a breath and did his best to mimic her steps. One, two, three... "Is it... like this?" He wasn't sure if he was any good at this whole dancing business, but he was determined to at least make an effort. "Yes, you've got it... to make it more complicated, and a true waltz, you have to add a turn..." Yeste' demonstrated the step and turn and then went back to position herself with Itsuki as she had done before. "Now you take the lead and I'll follow... it should all come together naturally..." Yeste' smiled and waited for Itsuki to start. "One, two, three and then turn..." It couldn't be that hard, could it? Itsuki nodded, finding himself not nervous at all as he set out to complete this mission without fail. Finding the beat shortly, he lead Yeste' across the floor doing his best to keep rhythm with the steps she had taught him. Occasionally glancing at his feet, he soon became more confident with what he was doing and was able to look straight at her. It didn't take long for him to understand the wonders of dancing as he found it slowly start to become second nature, as if the music was the one in control of his body. The boy didn't give up concentrating, however, and continued to keep time in his head as he focused on the task. Yeste' smiled at him and let herself be swept along. Itsuki was doing very well for someone who had never danced before. Yeste' enjoyed this, it was fun, and she had to make an effort to keep a giggle of joy from escaping. She never would have immagined that she would ever be dancing with Itsuki. "Would you like to see the armory when we are finished dancing?" Yeste' asked, though she hoped that he would want to keep dancing, at least for a short while longer. "...Armory?" This sparked a new interest in him but he quickly went back to concentrating on the waltz, chastizing himself for getting distracted even if only briefly. "That does sound interesting. ...I'd like to see it." Today was turning out to be an amazing day... Much more fun than training in his room or on the roof, though he was sure he would still have to continue that. Just getting out once in a while would be good, he decided. Especially if it involved knives... and dancing wasn't too bad either. "Ok then..." Yeste' kept dancing for a while longer, not wanting the waltz to end, but sadly the music stopped and she reluctantly pulled away. "Follow me." Yeste' led Itsuki back downstairs and through a series of long hallways until finally they came to a locked wooden door. Yeste' took out a key from her glove and unlocked the door, which opened to reveal walls lined with racks and tables with all sorts of different kinds of weapons; spears, daggers, swords, you named it and it was there. "Sao enjoys collecting weapons, and using them too..." When the door opened, Itsuki was taken by surprise by the shear amount and diversity of weapons in the room. He couldn't help himself but to slowly step inside and gawk at the walls. He was more overwhelmed than anything else. "T-this... Its amazing," he stated, finding the will to blink a few times, "if I had this many weapons, I could be strong..." The boy looked to Yeste', tilting his head to the side. He was having a hard time associating the girl in the dress as someone who would wield objects like these. It was equally difficult to remember her as the girl he first met upon breaking into the antique shop. How things can change in such a short time...He found himself staring at her while he thought, then shook his head to snap out of it. Remembering his initial question, he furrowed his eyebrows at her in curiosity, "Sao... she's a good fighter, isn't she?" Yeste' noticed Ituski staring at her and cast her eyes down at the ground with a blush. "Well... I've never really seen her fight, but I suppose that she is. She has been teaching me a little... not too much yet. She says she will really teach me when I'm older..." Yeste' walked over and grabbed a dagger off of a table and weighed it in her hand a moment before she spun it around with her wrist a few times. "I like this one best next to mine." The dagger in question had a curved blade with what looked like very fancy caligraphy engraved on it. The shaft was brown leather with a gold cap on the hilt. Yeste's eyes kept wondering lazily around the room, coming to rest anywhere but on Itsuki, she didn't want him to see her staring at him.... What is wrong with me? Why would he care if I look at him or not? Why do I care? I probably seem like a complete ninny to him..."How lucky you are..." Itsuki knew he was jealous of the situation she was in. Of course, he got stuck with the fangirl while she got someone she could learn a lot from. "It must be great to have all this knowledge and resources at your fingertips... I hope you use it well." He folded his arms across his chest. "I look forward to our next confrontation. Hopefully, I'll be more prepared." Of all things Itsuki could think of as humiliating, losing a second time to the same person, especially a woman, had to be near the top of the list. Even if this particular girl wasn't weak, it became a personal goal for him. He continued to look around as well when he noticed what he thought was Yeste' avoiding his gaze. That's just dumb. She wouldn't have a reason to do that. He dismissed the notion as quickly as it came. "I suppose... but what am I going to do with it all?" Yeste' sighed and hoisted herself up onto the table she had grabbed the dagger off of. She held out her hand and gathered shadows around it, then shaped them into the form of a man and woman who began to dance, much as she and Itsuki had. After a moment of watching her shadows she waved her hand and they dissapeared in whisps of smoke. "By the way... You have yet to tell me your name..." "My name?" Of all things, the boy hadn't realized he didn't tell her this much. Usually, he didn't give much thought to such a thing, but now that it had become an issue of full attention, began to wonder against giving out his name so freely to others. The name was a key to the person's life, if it were to get in the wrong hands... ...I think I can trust at least her.The boy shrugged as if to show that his name was no 'big deal', "Its Itsuki." He watched her play with the shadows and hid his jealousy rather well. Just simple things like that reminded him of how far he had to go before he was satisfied with himself. Itsuki knew it probably wasn't possible, but he hoped one day that he would have some kind of powers, too. "...I guess this means you have to come visit my place someday?" He changed the subject to get his mind off things. Yeste' looked at him and smiled. "I suppose so, Itsuki..." Yeste' nodded to herself and commited the name to memory and matched it with his face. Itsuki... that name fits very well..."Would you like to meet Ereki and Tsume? Or are you hungry? The kitchen isn't too far and I could try to cook something." Yeste' wasn't real sure about cooking, usually Sao was the one who cooked... and she didn't want to make something disgusting or something he wouldn't like... that would thoroughly embarrass her. "...Food?" Wait a second, hungry... food... Itsuki blinked. "...What time is it?" He instinctively looked around for a clock or window and frowned. He wasn't particularly hungry but he usually associated food with time, probably due to his only interruptions were for this reason. Ian would worry if he was gone for too long and while he didn't care whether she did or not, he didn't want to clean up her disembowled body if she thought he left her for good. Or even worse, she might start whining to him... Hn. He hoped it wasn't too late. He wasn't looking forward to going back and he rather enjoyed this place so far. Yeste' was about to answer when the grandfather clock in the front entrance began to chime. Yeste' waited for it to stop. "Its about 6:00... why?" Is he that anxious to leave?Six... Ian will be starting dinner soon... I'm sure she'll complain if I'm not there. Hn, I'd rather not leave, though... Itsuki sighed and rubbed his head. "I have to get going then. ...," he was hesistant to blame his guardian in fear of looking like a mama's boy, "... if I'm not home for dinner, I know she'll complain." He turned as if to leave, but something felt odd. Even to him, someone who didn't sense others' feelings, this didn't seem right to end it like this. So he slowly turned to look back at her and cocked his head to the side, "...I had fun, Yeste'. ....I'd like to see you again." Itsuki didn't think he'd say something like that to a girl but he decided that she had earned his companionship. "How would you like to come over my apartment next weekend for dinner?" Remembering her mention cooking, he assumed it was something she was good at and continued, "You could bring something and... I could make something. ...It could be fun?" The boy was unsure if this was an acceptable offer and hoped he hadn't messed up socially, again. Yeste' smiled, glad that he had a good time and wasn't leaving because of her. "Yes, I would like that very much." She nodded, not thinking about the part where he said 'you could bring something'. Yeste' walked with Itsuki to the front door, so he wouldn't get lost in the many twisting hallways of the mannor, and stood there. "Goodbye, Itsuki..." She nodded slightly, a gesture she replaced waving with, and then turned to head back up to her room. She waited until she was sure he wasn't looking/was gone and then she made a mad dash for her room. He nodded back, "Bye." Then headed back through the forest. A good distance away from the house he stopped and rubbed the back of his neck, thinking upon the events of the day. "......" Itsuki shook his head out of confusion and kept walking, sorting through his thoughts on the whole way back.

This Valentine's stuff... its all confusing... I don't like love, I don't get it. I'm not gonna bother asking Ian again, I'm sure she's going to give me the "you'll understand when you're older" bit. Whatever, its just too... gaah. I went and visited the girl today, her name is Yeste'. She gave me a dagger, a dagger!, for Valentine's day and... um... I haven't decided if it was giri-choco or honmei-choco... but I don't want to talk about that... It makes my head hurt.
She has a nice house in the middle of the woods and when I found her, she was dancing in a dress. She looked much different than I remembered... I guess I judged her too quickly. She was pretty, I know that. Her dancing was pretty too. When she invited me inside, she taught me how to waltz and I danced with her... It was so strange... I had never been that close to a girl and I could sense this vibe coming from her but I don't know what it was. She must have been happy... Dancing is nice, but it doesn't exactly work its way into my lifestyle. I'd probably only find time to dance at formal events, or something.
She has a nice armory too and her guardian, Sao, apparently is very skilled. I wish I had someone like that. Someone who could teach me things so I could become better... and stronger. I need to learn as much as I can, I don't want to be outdone by... anyone, I guess.
Its weird, I don't know why I feel that way. Everytime I see Yeste' have something I don't, in all senses of the meaning, I get so jealous... but I'm determined to be the best at whatever I do so that I can prove myself. I'm not a little kid... I don't ever want to be like how I was when I first met Ura and Yeste'. No, they'll see that I'm much better than that.
Its hard to train though, when I don't know exactly what to train for... I'm getting better at my reaction times but I don't think I'm up to par to other people at fighting. I just got this new dagger from Yeste', too, that I'll have to name and get used to...
Oh... I have that dinner with her too, that I'll have to plan for. I've never been so involved until recently. Its kinda overwhelming.
I hope Ian leaves me alone for a few days so I can sort things out...

On Valentine's Day, I decided to give Itsuki a giri-choco to introduce him into the holiday and show him I cared. Once I explained everything to him, he seemed a little different. I could tell that love and romance were not topics he thought often about and he seemed very... confused and overwhelmed. After I explained to him the difference between giri-choco and honmei-choco, the boy was in deep thought for some while. I wonder what was on his mind? ... I haven't seen Itsuki like this before, he wasn't as mean as usual and almost looked... vulnerable. This is definitely his weak spot, apparently. I think this all has to do with the girl who sent him the dagger. Is it possible that he has a crush? Though, he doesn't appear to understand love, I think he's not socially inept enough as well as too young to get these concepts yet. Something is definitely plaguing his mind and when he returns, maybe I should ask him. That's right... left with the chocolate. I can only imagine where he went. I hope he'll be okay...
Itsuki, you're scaring me... go back to your normal, angsty and intimidating self. !_____! ....

Itsuki laid back on his bed and held the shadow dagger that he received from Yeste'. Staring at the features, he ran his finger tips against the blade. Since his visit to her house in the woods, the boy lost his ambition to train. His mind was filled with different questions and it began to bug him. He was not used to thinking so much, and so, to get his mind off confusing matters, he tried to name his newest dagger.
When his thoughts could not stay in place, however, he got up and headed out of his room, leaving the dagger on his bed.
Regardless of what he did now, he knew he had to prepare for the dinner with Yeste' that was approaching. He walked into the living space and leaned against the wall for a moment, just gazing at Ian as she watched the television with a bowl of Cheez-its.
He turned his gold eyes towards the small kitchen and thought to himself. What could I possibly make and not screw up? ...I've never even cooked anything but ramen before. Itsuki frowned, knowing what his next step would probably be, and not liking it.
"... Ian."
The girl turned her head to look at him with curiosity. His tone was hard, but not harsh. She was surprised he would even speak to her willingly. "Hai?"
"...Can you teach me how to cook?"
Itsuki was startled as his guardian suddenly started to grin.
Just what had he got himself into...

...
So, cooking was not his forte.
It took almost the whole week for him to discover this and several botched meals.
Somehow, he had even managed to screw up instant rice. He was able to make instant ramen, why was the rice much harder? Itsuki was sure he was severely incompetent when Ian shook her head.
"...I don't think you're meant for this sort of thing." She began to scoop the charred remains of his last attempt down the sink and turn on the garbage disposal.
This is incredibly humiliating...
"Yeah, whatever." Was all he could reply, hating to accept defeat on the matter.
He looked to the small calendar on the wall by the refrigerator and frowned. Today was indeed Friday. In fact, it was Friday night.
The Simu mumbled to himself, "....I'm screwed."
He was gonna have to figure out something clever if he didn't want to make a fool of himself to Yeste'...
"...Nee, Itsuki, I'll just make something for you. Don't worry about it." Ian shrugged and wiped her hands on a washcloth, handing it to him.
"Isn't that cheating?" He took the cloth and wiped his hands as well, furrowing his eyebrows at her.
"...Kinda?"
Well, it would be better than eating burnt food. "Ah, what the heck."
What was the worst that could happen?

dinner date with yeste' Itsuki folded his arms across his chest and stared at the back of his guardian as she finished preparing the food. She walked out with a plate of riceballs and sat the plate on the coffee table in the living room. Next to it was the large bowl of ramen, being the only thing Itsuki had made himself. He curiously tilted his head to look at the rice triangles. "Eh?" "Onigiri... I didn't have any umeboshi to put in the middle, so they're just plain." She shrugged and finished putting two plates on the table as well. "It isn't much, but this should do, don't you think? Nee, let me get some pillows to sit on." The girl was excited to have a guest over and she hurried to a small closet to get the pillows. Itsuki was unsure, however, of the situation. The apartment paled in comparison to Yeste's manor, but it was where he lived all the same. He didn't worry much over the size and decor of the living space but rather on the food prepared. Hopefully, she would enjoy what little he attempted to offer, and he hoped even more she would bring something much better to counteract it. When Ian returned with the pillows, she sat one on each side of the table, tilted her head again to assess the situation then nodded. "Okay, I think its all ready, then. I think I'll go out, so not to embarass you or anything." She read my mind, the boy thought and he nodded to her. Before she left, he added, "You don't have to come back." Her hopes of bonding with him still seemed to be a little too farfetched, she decided. But she only stuck her tongue out at him before she hurried out the door and down the hall. Itsuki stared at the door, then at the table and sighed. He hoped this would go well. Yeste' looked at the clock on her wall and then screamed in frustration as she dove back into her closet. Normally she didn't care about what she wore, but for some reason she wasn't happy with anything she pulled out of her closet now! She looked over at Vanim's cage as the little bat hung upside down and watched her, seeming to giggle at her. "You could help me you know!" She threw a sock at the bat's cage. Vanim flew out of the cage and sat on Yeste's shoulder and squeeked angrily. "Quiet, I can't think with you squeeking in my ear..." Yeste' looked back at the clock, if she didn't hurry up she would be late! "Ghaaaaa!" She yanked her hair and went back to digging through the closet, tossing clothes out behind her as she searched. Finally she pulled out a pair of black pants and a black tank top with a built in corset. She was about to throw them behind her until she saw that her closet was now empty. "Well... I guess these will have to do..." Yeste' stood outside Itsuki's apartment and stared at the door, hesitating to knock. She looked down at her dish of algrautin potatos and then back at the door. Yeste' sighed and knocked on the door, hopeing for dear life that Itsuki liked potatoes, and that her cooking didn't kill him. It wasn't long before Itsuki heard a knock on his door and froze in his spot. Why was he suddenly nervous? The boy did his best to regain his composure and stood up slowly. He made his way to the door and pulled it open to reveal his guest, just as expected. He smiled a little and opened the door more for her to come in. "Hello. ...Um, how are you doing?" Yeste' stepped inside with a nod and a smile. "I'm doing fine." She spoke quietly. She never would have thought that she'd be inside Itsuki's home... though it wasn't exactly what she had pictured him living in, it seemed a bit more cozy and welcoming in its smallness than her home did with its large size... Itsuki closed the door behind her and noticed her glancing around, releaved that she didn't seem disgusted with the difference between their housing. "The place isn't much... but its got what it needs." He shrugged and walked back to her. The boy wasn't sure how to proceed and so he used his best guess. "...Thanks for coming out here. Um, you made this?" He motioned to what she was holding, curious to see what she had brought and also dreading her trying something of his. Yeste' made a face when she looked at her potatoes. Sao had said they were good, but Yeste' was being paranoid and thought that her outfit was bad and the potatoes were horrid and had thought she had gotten lost on the way there. She looked back up at Itsuki. "Yes... I made these. Do you like potatoes?" "Potatoes?" Hm, had he ever had potatoes? As he thought about the few tv dinners and--oh yes, Ian had made mashed potatoes one night--realized he indeed had... and he never complained. "Yes, they aren't bad at all." Itsuki nodded to her in reassurance. He offered to take the plate from her and noticed her look of worry. The boy was relieved to find her in a similar state as him, but still could not completely ease himself. This was very much a social event and he had no clue how to proceed with things. This... might be a difficult night.Yeste' sighed with relief, thankful that she hadn't chosen to bring Itsuki's least favorite food. She handed the plate to Itsuki and smiled. "So, what should we do first?" Itsuki sat the plate down on the table and stood back up to look at her. "Well, I guess we could eat now if you want. Or, we could..." He looked around, trying to figure out what else there was to do. After a moment, he shrugged. "Or, I guess I could show you my room. Its not much, though..." "I would love to see your room." Yeste' nodded and folded her arms behind her back. She was nervous, this was her first time at his house and she didn't know how to act... and that was added onto that anxious feeling she got around Itsuki... Putting all that aside, Yeste' looked at different things around the house, everything apearing to catch her attension. The boy merely nodded and motioned for her to follow him as he heading out of the living space and to the back of the apartment. Not that she could get lost, seeing as there was only one bedroom, a bathroom and a closet... But, the gesture had seemed expected anyhow. Less than a moment later, he opened the door to his bedroom and stepped inside. Itsuki hadn't taken much time to decorate his room, the walls were a basic white and the basic dark blue carpet. Plain white sheets decorated his bed next to the single window. He had a nightstand, which coincidently still had his mirror it on from where Ian had left it, as well as an alarm clock the boy never used. His dresser was rather scarce, with his weapons and a couple pieces of paper strewn out top. The floor had a few articles of clothing on it, but was picked up for the most part. After looking over his own room, Itsuki just shrugged and suggested, "Its where I spend a lot of my time, but you really can't tell." Yeste' smiled. "My room is like that too..." She looked around the room and then back at Itsuki. "So, what did you name the dagger?" Itsuki looked back to her as he put his hands in his pockets. "Oh. ...I haven't really decided on it." He frowned and looked over at the item in question. "I've been thinking on it lately," the boy explained with a sigh, "and I know I've got something... but I just can't put my finger on the name." He couldn't explain it exactly, so illustrated this with a roll of his shoulders. "I should probably name my dagger soon too... But I think it already has a name... it just isn't telling me what it is yet... But it will when it is ready." Yeste' smiled at Itsuki and then sweatdropped. He probably thought she was insane... what was she talking about? Her dagger couldn't tell its name! It was an inanimate object and couldn't talk! "Uh... anyways.... Shall we eat? I don't think Algrautin potatoes are very good cold..." Yeste' said with a chuckle in her voice. The thought of a dagger speaking to her sparked a strange look on his face, more out of the mental image that came from it, but he figured they were having a similar situation. He just hoped his dagger didn't try to carry on a conversation with him... "Oh, right. I don't think ramen will taste good cold, either." Itsuki lead her out of the room and then looked over his shoulder. "Um, do you like ramen noodles? Its about the only thing I can cook without burning. I also have riceballs, I'm sure you like rice?" The boy was sure she did-- he didn't think anyone could hate rice. It was worth asking, at least... Yeste' smiled widely. "You picked two of my most favorite foods. I love rice and love noodles even more" She followed him out of his room. "I'm not that good at cooking either... Ereki and Tsume helped me." The news caused Itsuki to smile a little wider than he was used to, but he just couldn't help himself. She loved both rice and noodles? This girl was definitely worth keeping around for a while. He walked back to the living area and sat down on one of the pillows at the coffee table with the food on it. "Really? I thought you'd be good at it." Itsuki realized that his only basis he had for it was that she was a girl. "I thought I would be too... of course having those two little winged imps helping didn't make it any easier..." Yeste' took a seat on one of the other pillows and looked at the table. "Wow... I've never seen a table this low to the ground before..." "Hm? Well, I don't think its supposed to be made for eating at. I think its one of those clutter tables." He hoped she didn't mind practically sitting on the floor, as he was sure she was probably used to a different dining experience entirely. As he separated the utensils from a small pile, he set one of each infront of Yeste', noting that Ian had apparently given them anything they could possibly need--not that he understood what he'd use the cheese shredder for--as well as a clean plate for each of them. "...Though, its not a problem, is it?" "Oh no, I just think the table is interesesting." Yeste' smiled and then saw the cheese grader. "Oh good lord..." Yeste shook her head as a mental image of Sao doing something extreamly random and crazy flashed through her mind. Itsuki couldn't help but to sweatdrop at his own mental image. Instead of dwelling on it, however, he decided to go ahead and put some of Yeste's potatoes on his plate as well as some ramen. After taking a bite of her work, Itsuki nodded and swallowed. "I don't think you should worry though, this is good." Yeste' smiled and dished some of the ramen and potatoes on her plate, and then took a rice ball. "Thank you." She bit into the rice ball and licked her lips. "Yummy. You know, I've always thought rice balls would be sweet, like cakes... I don't know why. I think thats some of Sao's logic there..." Yeste' made a sweatdrop face before she took another bite of the delicious rice ball. It was near impossible to mess up rice, but even so, Itsuki didn't seem like too bad a cook. "I think its because some people call them rice cakes? I was first under the impression myself." Then again, he also thought there was a cream filling, but that was besides the point. Itsuki took a few more bites of the au gratin before trying some of his noodles. Pleased with the results, he continued chewing and eyed a riceball, considering on whether or not to wait until he was done before starting on one. Yeste' devoured her rice ball and then moved onto the ramen, which was just as good. She slurped up a clump of noodles and then smiled, blushing a little at her lack of table manners. At home she and Sao had no manners at all, which was fun, but not the most desireable thing when in public or around someone you are trying not to scare off... "I suppose one could make them sweet and burry them in sugar like Sao does... of course, she's the one who put icing on mango slices and ranch potato chips... she's not all there in the head." Yeste' made a swirly notion and pointed to her own head when she said the last part about Sao and then smiled and went back to eating. Itsuki didn't notice her slurping at all, quite used to the behavior from his guardian. Instead, he responded to her after he was finished swallowing. "Heh, at least she can keep herself entertained? My caretaker isn't much to write about, either. She's more wimpy than anything, though." The boy went ahead and finished up his potatoes, having decided to leave the onigiri for last indeed. "Do you like living with her, though?" "Yes, I enjoy living with Sao. She's like a mom to me... She puts up with me dissapearing all the time, she cooks for me, makes sure I have everything I need... I like spending time with her. She may be insane, but that just makes her more fun." Yeste' stared at her potatoes for a few moments and then snapped out of serious mode and smiled at Itsuki before digging into her potatoes. Itsuki watched her, then worked on his noodles for a few moments of silence before stating, "That's good. ...To have her, I mean." He wasn't sure what he was trying to say, so he left it at that. The boy let a few more moments of silence pass until he found another topic to pick up on. "Yeste', do you have any... things you want to do? Like, accomplishments or... I guess, goals?" Itsuki decided he must have been grasping at straws for conversation, or maybe it was from something Ian had mentioned earlier? Yeste' took another bite of her potatoes and pondered over Itsuki's question. She swallowed and then rubbed her chin and sat backwards. "Goals? I haven't really thought about that... I don't think I do. At least not right now anyways.... I know there is something I want to do, or something I'm meant to do, but I don't know what that could possibly be..." Itsuki nodded at her response, wondering on it as well. Was there something he was meant to do? What was Yeste' meant to do? He played with his ramen against his fork as he thought to himself. Then, after finishing another bite, he responded, "I guess you'll know when it's time? Like the rest of us?" "I suppose so..." Yeste' sat upright again and poked at the remander of her potatoes with her fork. What was she meant to do? Yeste' quickly pushed that out of her mind, she'd cross that bridge when she came to it. "What about you?" "I... don't know. I want to know more about myself, about what we are, and why and how I have a connection to Urahara. I've been searching for answers, I truly believe they lie somewhere in that shop, since the day..." Itsuki thought over it a moment before he came to a realisation and looked at her, "since that day I met you." Itsuki never thought much on it before, but now he wondered how odd it was to have met her in his first quest for answers. Also how odd it was for him to have befriended someone as herself, who seemed cut from an entirely different mold than him. He mused on how it seemed more appropriate if she had come from his mirror, making him wonder what that meant about himself. "Do you... ever wonder, what happened before you manifested? Like, if there was anything before that?" He reached over and picked up an onigiri, turning it over in his hands as he spoke, "Like the things that happen now are because they relate to what happened before?" "I know they did... they had to. That has to be why we are here, right? Because of stuff that happened before...." Yeste' looked at the floor and remembered that dream she had a while back... the one she had before her shadow powers made themselves known... She wasn't sure if that had been a dream or not, maybe that was something that happened before? "Urhara? Who's that?" "Urahara? He's, um. ...He's tall, tanned, has long red hair and different colored eyes like you." Itsuki munched on the riceball and continued, "He was the first person I met other than Ian... it happened to be the first time I left the apartment, too. I've only met him once but we can tell there is a deep connection between us. It was since then that I've been doing research." He looked past Yeste' at nothing as he thought onward, "Ian told me that there had originally been a necklace wrapped around the mirror I came from. It had been sold before she bought me... and that's the necklace Urahara manifested from. I had felt something like that before and... meeting him just confirmed something I had... missing." The boy shook his head and looked back down at his plate, "I'm talking too much. ...Its just this is something that has been bothering me almost since the day I got here. I don't know if its a coincidence or not that everytime I go out looking for information, I run into certain people. ...Like you." Itsuki wasn't sure what exactly he meant by the statement, but he had spoke his mind and decided to distract himself with the onigiri. "I think I met Urahara breifly a long time ago..." Yeste' thought for a bit. "I don't know if thats a coincidence or not, its probably a bit too soon to worry about that kind of stuff right yet. Or maybe the answers you're looking for can't be found when you're searching for them..." Yeste' smiled at Itsuki. "Sao tells me everytime she loses something that she can never find whatever it is when she's looking for it, but the second she stops worrying about it, it turns up... So, what kind of research have you been doing? Where have you been looking?" Itsuki sighed, then offered a shrug. "Its stupid to call it research, really, since I haven't really done much. Mostly I've been focusing on the shop.. and the others like us. I figured its the best way to find out anything about the connection or what we are." He paused for a moment as he turned her statement over in his mind, "...Find things better when I'm not looking? I don't know how that could happen." He frowned, hoping it wasn't true. He wasn't one to sit around and wait for things to happen and conducting his own search was fulfilling to him. "But... I did meet you two without trying." Still, to find things better from not looking?... "...I'll see what happens." With that, he continued on his riceball until he was finished. "I'm not saying not to look, but not to worry too much about it." Yeste' started to rub the back of her neck under her hair, but was stopped when she felt something small and furry there. "What the?" Yeste' grabbed whatever it was that was latching onto the back of her choker and out into the open infront of her face. It was Vanim, her pet bat, much to her surprise. "Vanim! What are you doing sneaking along with me?" Yeste' looked up at Itsuki and sweatdropped. "I'm sorry... I had no idea he had hitched a ride on me..." Itsuki's eyes widened as he stared at the creature, looking at it curiously. "That's your pet?" He wasn't sure if he had seen an animal like it before, but it somehow felt familiar to him. "What is it? Is that a..." The name was on the tip of his tongue and he frowned as he thought, "... oh, a bat?" The boy knew he'd never heard of such a thing before, but the word had come to him much like he knew Ura came from a necklace... He furrowed his eyebrows when he noticed Vanim's wings. "...My mirror has wings like that on it." Huh, what a coincidence... "Really? I've never seen your mirror. I wonder why I didn't come from a mirror?" Yeste' pondered over the bat wing thing. Bat wings on things besides bats were usually demon wings, and demons symbolized evil, but Itsuki wasn't evil... at least she didn't think so... Vanim squeeked and wiggled out of Sao's grasp and flew over to Ituski, perching on his head to better survey his surroundings. He looked around and then squeeked a few times before investigating who and what he was sitting on. "Oh... do you want to see my mirror? Obviously its nothing really special now, but Ian said it used to reflect a swirling red pattern..." Itsuki then shrugged as she wondered, "I think we come from certain things for a reason... Not everyone comes from mirrors." In fact, Itsuki realized he knew more people who came from other artifacts. When the bat found the boy's head as his next spot, he couldn't help but to smile. He didn't mind animals, he found them much easier to deal with than humans, and this species in particular gave him a different feeling. "Well, hello." "Sure. I've already shown you the dagger I came from, right?" Vanim peeked over Itsuki's head to at him eye to eye, then promptly begain sniffing him; which resulted in the bat's nose in Itsuki's eye... "Vanim, knock that off..." Yeste' sighed at Vanim's lack of manners. But what could be expected from an animal in terms of manners... Vanim squeeked and got out of Itsuki's face sat atop his head some more, sticking his tongue out at Yeste'. Itsuki merely scrunched up his face as the animal sniffed at him, not surprised at all. He didn't seem to mind much but stood up carefully and looked towards Yeste'. "Heh. I'll get my mirror then. You can wait here, I'll be back in just a moment." He walked carefully back to his room, opened the door and stepped back inside. After a brief glance across the area, he spotted the black looking glass, grasped it by the handle and made his way back to the living room. "This is it. Its kind of weird and I wonder where it could have been made." Itsuki placed the black mirror on the table in an empty spot. Slowly, he sat back down on his pillow and looked up, trying briefly to see Vanim then looked back at the girl. "Ooo... pretty... This looks like something Sao or I would buy. It kind of looks out of place here." Yeste' paused. "I wonder where all of our items were made... they had to have been made by someone... and how we got in them... and even more curious is how or if our items have anything to do with us or the us before..." Yeste' blinked. "I'm rambling again, aren't I?" She sweatdropped and was silent. "No... I'm wondering the same thing. I think... we all do." He looked at his mirror as if it was a piece to the puzzle. "I bet they do have to link to our past. ...Maybe each artifact was something that was around in our past life?" "I think one of the last questions we'll find the answer to is how or why we were put in these antiques... But you're right about my mirror. It seems more fitting in your household." Itsuki gazed intensely at the piece, then propped up his head with his hand. "What does that mean about me, then? ...and what does that dagger mean about you?" Yeste' shook her head and sighed. "I don't have a clue.... We'll most likely find out everything later on... but for now I think that we should not worry about it too much, and maybe try to have fun.... or something like that..." Yeste' shrugged. She wished she knew Itsuki better so she'd would be able to help him find the answers he was looking for. He thought it over before nodding and replying, "I guess I should try to have fun more. ...I just want to be ahead, though." Itsuki frowned. "Though, I'm still a... kid, I guess. I should... not worry and think so much?" Maybe she's right? I can't help it though...The boy touched the tip of his nose as he came up with an idea then smiled a little at Yeste'. "How about this... we both promise that whenever we spend time with each other... it'll be to remind us what life is really about." He glanced upwards as he reached to his head to pet Vanim. "That way, we won't ever forget." Was life really about... having fun? Itsuki wasn't sure, but at least the definition was flexible. Though, the thought of spending more time with Yeste' made that feeling come back to him. He scratched the back of his neck shyly and did his best not to blush. Being around girls was weird... that's for sure. "I believe thats called being friends..." Yeste' smiled. "Friends?" She held out her hand for them to shake on it. He tilted his head to the side at the proposal, wondering if it was really that simple to be a 'friend'. "...Friends." Itsuki nodded and took her hand, giving it a firm shake. I think I might like this... He gave her a small smile and let go of her hand. "I guess that makes you my first friend." "Same here." Yeste' nodded. Friend... that I like how that sounds... "Well... Its getting late.... I should probably be heading home soon or Sao will throw a fit." Yeste' scratched her head and motioned for Vanim. "See you later, Itsuki." Yeste' smiled. Itsuki stood up and nodded, "Right. I'll see you later." He walked over to the door and held it open for her. "...Thanks for coming over." "I had a good time." Yeste' nodded and then stepped out through the door. "Good bye." And with that she was off.

On the this particular cold morning, Ian was in the small kitchen preparing a bowl of cereal for herself, as well as her 'son', of sorts. With the recent interactions between Itsuki and Yeste', she had noticed him start to become more distant than before, but more importantly, he had become even more mellow. Rarely did he snap at her anymore and she was sure the frequency of his glares had decreased as well. Now, she had been left with just taking care of the boy and answering questions he had, usually strange ones that indicated his mind was all over the place. Thinking upon this, she smiled. It had been the first time since he had arrived that she actually felt maternal towards him and she liked it. Glancing over at the Simu in question, she continued to smile to herself and silently hoped this kind of behavior would last.
Ian brought both the bowls to the coffee table and sat on the floor across from him. He didn't respond much to the bowl being slid infront of him and just picked up his spoon. The girl watched him stir his cereal absently as he seemed to be staring... at the shadow dagger on the table. Ian didn't notice it before but it now dawned on her how often he had been holding it recently and decided to make conversation.
"Itsuki, what's wrong with your knife?"
It took a moment for his gold eyes to look up at her and focus. Soon, he knitted his eyebrows together, "Nothing's wrong with it... oh." I am staring at it, aren't I... He seemed to be getting better at the whole "social" thing...
"...I still haven't figured out a name," he explained to her and took his first bite of breakfast.
"Ah, sou sou." A straight answer... this is progress!
"...Why do you care?"
Sigh. There was that glare again. Well, at least it took longer this time.
Ian shrugged as she finished a mouthful of cereal. Then she grinned at him.
"Because I'm your mom~," she teased.
Apparently, this comment was not welcome and it soon became evident to her. Itsuki had dropped his spoon and his initial look of surprise soon darkened to one of anger. His eyes narrowed at her and he stood up sharply, not looking away. Itsuki pursed his lips together and growled, "Don't ever say that again."
The boy left the room quickly and disappeared behind his bedroom door, leaving Ian sitting puzzled in the living room. She swallowed hard and frowned.
"...What was that all about?"

Don't ask me what caused this but... I can just feel it.
I don't want her to ever call herself my mother again. When she said that... it just gave me this heavy feeling in my stomach and this fire rising through my chest. This was different from when I got angry at Yeste' at our first meeting. I don't know where this feeling came from, but I just suddenly felt very, very infuriated. Just thinking about it keeps making me angry...
Why do feelings like this come of their own accord? It was a mildly annoying comment at best so... why does it make me so mad? Agh... It just, makes me want to hate her...
What am I thinking? I don't know what my problem is. Ian is annoying but... she hasn't really done anything to make me hate her yet... but.. AGH.
I DON'T want to think about this, it isn't helping any. I think its just making me more mad knowing I don't have control over my feelings now...
I have to think about something else... Like... Yeste'? No, that's just confusing. The knife... yes, the dagger.
Name, name... Something!
.... Lisn. I'll call it Lisn. Not sure where the name came from, but it'll work...
I just have to find something to do now to keep my mind off things. Fill you in later.

Even more weird behavior from Itsuki lately... Since he's been hanging out with that Yeste' girl, he's seemed to have mellowed out a little... I had thought I'd FINALLY get a chance to bond and communicate with him, but somehow I ended up messing up again...
I just teasingly called myself his mom and... he really flipped out about it. He looked furious and that feeling came back to me, the one that always leaves my heartbeating fast and scared to go around him. Did I hit a soft spot? Or am I just that bad of a person, its insulting to be called his mom? But if he doesn't remember his past, why would it affect him like this unless that was true? I guess I must be really bad... but at least he didn't do anything to me. He's keeping himself in his room, I think, but I'm too afraid to go check on him. He might throw something at me...
I hope he forgives me or something... it'd be awkward to have to live like this with him for a long period of time...

itsuki meets kyoko The day was breezier than normal when Itsuki headed to the antique shop. He kept his hands in his pockets as he braced himself against the wind, frowning at his hair getting blown constantly into his face. Before long, he arrived at his destination so he quickly headed through the doorway of the shop. Not sure what he was expecting, nor what he would find, he decided to explore his 'birthplace' a bit more on such a boring day. Having had about the same intention Kyoko was all about to strode trough the shop's different rooms. After about an hour of exploring and no one else showing up, she sat down on the couch on the first floor staring at the ceiling. What a boring day, indeed. It was too stormy outside to spend a nice day in the garden and so she was pretty much disappointed. Her younger brother was still on this cruise and she had hoped to meet somebody else here. Upon entering the shop, Itsuki removed his hands from his pockets. After pushing his locks out of his face, he glanced around at the entrance. He frowned again, taking notice to the empty store. "Is no one here?" Disappointed, he decided to explore, having not seen much of what the place had to offer. Cautiously, he stepped past the counters and looked around before walking into the backroom. The boy noticed the staircase first and contemplated going upward until the teen caught his eye in the back of the room. She was beautiful... and older than himself, but thankfully still young. But more importantly, he realized he had not met her before. Itsuki felt the boredom she shared with him as well as the familiar feeling of the other children he had met. Curious now, and determined to involve himself in some sort of activity, he decided to take his chances with this stranger. Walking up to the teen lounging on the sofa in the back, he stopped infront of her and initiated the speech in order to get her attention. "...Hey. Some weather we're having." It seemed neutral enough to start a conversation without rousing suspicions. He just hoped she was interested in talking. Kyoko had been looking out into the backyard as she heard someone approaching. She turned her head towards the stranger and smiled slightly. "Indeed, I hate it. I wanted to go out, but somehow nothing sensible seems to happen. Something like...sun coming out and letting me relax in the garden..." She mumbled, the boredom and angriness still making a sound in her voice. "So, you were bought at this shop as well ?" Her blue eyes came to meet his and she wasn't shy to look at him directly. He seemed younger, but not too much, so probably he could at least talk to her for a while. During this phase of boredom even the most annoying child would have served her intension to talk. "Yes, that's what it seems like. I came out of a mirror bought here a few months ago." He picked up her calm demeanor once he found her interesting in continuing the conversation. Itsuki put his hands in his pockets and looked at her necklace curiously. After watching the light dance off the charm, he continued, "You must have been out for a while, right?" He had a feeling about the necklace but figured she could tell him herself, just in case he was wrong anyhow. So he was older than she was...at least in this kind of world. As she followed his looks, the teenager raised an eyebrow and coughed. What the hell was he looking at ? Her chest...if yes, she'd kill him for being so obvious. Or probably it was just the necklace ? So she decided to test it by playing around with the piece of jewelry a bit. "I came from this necklace." Kyoko stated and wondered if he was one of those 'pretty boys', because he came out of a mirror. "What were you up to, anyway ?" She asked, pretending to stare outside again. Her head tried to find a reasonable subject to make him tell everything about him. Satisfied with her response, mostly because he had been right, he looked back to her face. "What do you mean... since I arrived from the mirror?" Itsuki thought about it for a moment before answering, "Not much really. I've met a few of our kind now but I'm only close with two of them." The boy decided to use the opportunity to open up to something else he had been wondering, hoping she would have useful information for him. "Actually, I've been trying to find our more about... what we are and how some of us are connected. I haven't had much luck, but I haven't been able to search this whole shop for answers, either." Kyoko smirked. "Well, actually I was talking about today. But anyway, I've met two girls and my younger brother, of course, yet. All of them seemed pretty alright. But I wouldn't say I'm close with anybody...not yet." She laughed slightly, wondering if he was interested in staying in the doorframe forever. Did he think she had problems with him sitting down on the couch ? "Actually I think we're all pretty unique. I met a girl called Ardre, who had wings. Do you have anything special ? Well, otherwise I don't know much, besides all of us are coming from items...Sarria said something about me being a companion, although I sadly didn't understand what she meant." Companion? Itsuki started to become more interested and decided to get closer by sitting up on the edge of the counter right by the couch. He felt more comfortable being a little farther than sitting next to her and found it easier to look from infront of her. "Sarria I have met, but she was little and didn't talk too much. ...Ardre, I have not." He wondered about the companion comment again as he thought how odd it was for her to know so little people when she must have been around longer than himself. Unless... He smirked a little to himself and swung his feet slowly. "I think those that come from necklaces must be different. ...Like Urahara." He figured he probably didn't recognize the name but gave it a shot anyhow. "Do you feel like you... have a connection to someone?" Kyoko grinned as he sat down and put one of her legs across the other one. "Sarria is a teenager now, just like me. I bet she has grown...yes, I think she said something like this." The companion said more to herself than to Itsuki. As he mentioned someone else coming from a necklace, she raised an eyebrow and straigtened. A guy even ? "Urahara, I haven't met him yet. Do you know him well ?" She blinked and looked at her blue fingernails as he asked his second question. "Sure, my little brother Ronin." Kyoko added, it was obvious to her. "Surprisingly, we are. I've only met him once though." Itsuki frowned slightly at his own statement then refocused on what she had said. Sarria was now a teenager? Then, this meant that they grew... It had been something Itsuki hadn't even considered before. He was somewhat surprised at her reaction to meanting Ura. Did she think she was the only one from a necklace? "Urahara is from a necklace, too. He looks like he's around your age," the Simu wondered if he had heard of a Ronin before and decided he might've been mentioned to him once. "I've just been trying to find out what these connections mean. Ronin is your brother, it would make sense why you two are connected but... Ura and I don't look alike and have barely met but it feels like I've known him forever." "Yes, Ronin seems very familiar to me as well. It's like, we just understand each other. Probably this Ura is your brother too and you just don't know it ? I mean...your items' metal could be from the same kind...or something." "Ronin is your age. At least I think so, but he's more childish. You seem...quite alright to me." Kyoko said, wanting to sound nice. If you act nice, people are nice in return and tell you interesting stories. That's what she had learned during the past days. Itsuki raised an eyebrow at the comment, not sure how to interpret it, and just shrugged. "Thanks. You seem alright." She was different from each of the other girls he had met, that was for sure. Just how different, he wasn't too sure as of yet. "That sounds probable," he knew their antiques had been together for a while, but he wasn't sure if he could call Ura his brother without the redhead giving him one of those weird looks, "I'm sure I will find out more about it if I keep looking." He made a mental note to speak with Sarria again. "You will inform me about new information...will you ?" She smiled friendly, really hoping to get to know more about this miracle. Actually she hadn't been much concerned about this lately, but more about getting to know more people from this shop. Somehow it seemed important to her to be up to date and to know what's going on. "Do you have any special hobbies ? I mean, something you like ?" Kyoko continued to ask as she tightened one of her belts. "I like nature a lot. Meditating is good for your soul, you should try !" "...Meditating?" He wasn't sure if he had heard of anything that was good for the soul and Itsuki hoped it wasn't some kind of bad-tasting food. "Never heard of that actually..." "But nature is kinda nice," the boy shrugged, "especially being on rooftops... it helps me think." He brushed some hair out of his face but continued to answer her question, "I don't think you could call it a hobby but... I have knives I train with." After a few moments, he looked up at the ceiling and stated, "...I just want to be stronger. All around..." Itsuki didn't know why he was telling her this, but he looked back to her to see if she related any. "You haven't heard of meditating ?!" Kyoko almost jumped up from her seat wanting to shake him. Indeed she wasn't a good example for being quiet and self-centered...harmony. "Well, I need to show you." She smiled liking the idea a lot as she listened to his words. "Rooftops ? Kind of adventurer, aren't you ? My brother has a small dagger, which he even talks to. Sometimes a bit strange, but I guess boys like weapons." Watching him staring at the ceiling Kyoko felt pretty confident. "You know, meditating makes you find your inner strength and connection to nature. Strength isn't just the physical way, but has to come straight from your soul so you can call out to the world : Heya, here we go !" She jumped up to demonstrate. Nothing more, she wasn't really in the mood to go. The rain annoyed her desperately. Itsuki found himself smirking at her passion towards meditating, finding it amusing at least. He did become interested after listening to her last part. "So what is meditating, really? Just how can you do something to 'bring out your inner strength'?" She gave a good pitch and now left him curious. Kyoko enjoyed her teaching position and wandering around the room, still looking at the boy. "Itsuki, it's the easiest thing in the world and everyone of us has once done it in life. You can do it everywhere, but it's most effective in nature, when you're just surrounded by yourself and your bond to earth." She took a deep breath before continuing her monologue. "See, you just sit down somewhere in the grass and close your eyes. You concentrate on yourself, think about nothing and after some time, when your mind is empty, you reach this feeling of completely...you." Kyoko stopped for a moment, wanting him to feel the tension. "It's like your resting and walking, sleeping and being completely awake. You finally recognise yourself and everything around you. You're a part of it...and if you discover the truth of yourself...you're strong." Itsuki leaned forward on the counter, holding the edges to brace himself as he stopped swinging his feet. "You mean, that's all there is to it? Its kind of like... a self-awareness thing?" He was interested more than ever, she certainly knew which words to use to catch him. "There's no discipline involved... or pain?" It seemed odd to him nonetheless that sitting could make someone stronger in any sense. Kyoko thought about an appropiate answer for a moment and then smiled. "No, not at all. Well, it's not easy to actually concentrate on nothing at first, so you need a certain kind of discipline. But if once found the path, you'll know the way." She walked closer to him, watching his feet dangle. "See, we're still young and our soul doesn't carry heavy burdens yet. So pain shouldn't be involved at all. For the grown-ups it might be painful if they discover a self they pretended not to have for a long time. For us...it is freedom." His eyes had a pretty orange color indeed, Kyoko noticed. "Freedom..." Itsuki looked at her as he thought upon her words. He had already knew concentration was an important thing and something that improved that alone would be useful to him. But she had opened up a different door enitrely that he hadn't thought of being there. He didn't think much on the 'self' issue, but now it started to make some sense. "How can I expect to know an enemy if I don't even know myself... right?" The boy looked up at her in a new sense of admiration at the knowledge she was willingly sharing with him. If this kept up, he knew he'd be really strong by the next time he met Urahara. "Indeed." She said and the smile broadened. Finally someone who seemed to understand. What a good student this Itsuki was ! Due to this great emotion of success she leaned over to hug him slightly. "Great Itsuki, you got the message." She just liked him for saying this sentence, nothing more, nothing less. At least a good partner in conversation. He was startled at the gesture at first, never really being hugged before, but was pretty sure it had something to do with her excitement at his understanding and it was probably a girl thing. Of course, he shrugged in response, "It didn't seem too complicated. ...Have you been trying to teach others?" The strength in her excitement, he figured, must have been attributed to failures. He could see why others wouldn't be interested, a lot of the people he had met didn't seem that interested in self-improvement but more on outside issues. The boy also decided that Kyoko must be someone who thought a lot as well. Kyoko stopped hugging him and for a moment she kept silent. Should she actually tell him about being the first understanding ? Well, truth was a good thing. "Actually just my little brother, Ronin. But he's on this cruise trip now and so I hope he's still understanding everything when coming back. I bet he has changed a lot. Journeys always change people...I guess." She shrugged and smiled again, playing with her coal black hair. "So you know, you're the first one really getting it." "Yeah? I bet I won't be the last. You just need to find the right people to teach it to." He nodded to her. Why he felt the need to encourage her, he wasn't sure. It seemed like the right thing to do. The talk of journies and people changing made him think for a moment. Then he shrugged before suggesting, "Maybe when your brother comes back, he'll have grown like Sarria?" He wasn't sure how all that worked, but it seemed logical. Kyoko enjoyed his words having found someone who finally encouraged her. Lena, her 'mother', always said she was exaggerating. She had no clue, this was pretty obvious now. As she heard Itsuki talking about growth her eyes widened in fear. Her young little obidient brother should grow ? Not having thought about it before she was kind of shocked. Of course she would manage to make him do what she wanted, but when he was a teenager, probably taller... "Oh no, you're right !" She gasped, now extremely unhappy about Ronin going on a cruise. She should have gotten the ticket, not the little one. As her eyes moved back to her partner in conversation an idea trickled into her mind. "Itsuki...will you grow soon too ?" The question threw Itsuki off guard and he stared at her for a moment. Even through the conversation, it wasn't something he had thought about at all. Him... getting older, looking different? It sounded rather scary to the boy but it was something that made him curious. "...I don't know. Should I know? I never thought about it before." He admitted to her. Her fear of Ronin growing had only made him more fearful of what could happen to him. Was it really something to be afraid of? ...Maybe she wasn't the right one to ask for that. "Sorry, was a stupid question. Nobody knows when it happens, I guess. It's like you don't notice when you're blinking." Kyoko smiled shily, as she noticed that she had moved him into the wrong direction. When he would grow and be a teenager as well, he could probably help her to spread the love of nature. He would be good at doing this, having such convincing eyes. She smiled and played with her belts, as usual when she was thinking. "I would like to see you older." Great, something more stupid didn't came to her mind. Another comment that he hadn't seen coming, but Itsuki reacted much differently to this one than he had to the other. "...Really?" Somehow, a smile had formed on his face and it was too late for him to change that now, "Its nice of you to say." He wasn't sure what she meant by that exactly, but he figured that it couldn't be too bad either way, coming from a girl like her. "I'd like to see it myself," he added, in hopes of making the situation less awkward. This conversation was moving in a direction of friendliness, which was quite unfamiliar to Kyoko. She blinked several times and hastily played around with her necklace. Damn, she had gotten herself into this and now she didn't know how to respond. "Well..it's the truth." She said, trying not to avoid his looks. The teen didn't want to seem embarrassed or something. Oh no, now he was even smiling. Kyoko returned the favour by smiling slightly and couldn't control herself anymore. So her cheeks got the colour of a glowing pink. Ouch, this was just a young baby boy, why was she blushing anyway ? Itsuki had jumped down off the counter and he looked up in time to see her blushing. It only took a few moments of looking at her cheeks before he started blushing too. He knew this feeling in the air, he'd felt it somewhere before. Oh man... "Aah.. well. Thanks. But, I should be going now." He scratches his head, suddenly nervous. "Thanks again for teaching me... and your kind words." He took a step back, then nodded to her. "I-I'll see you soon." With that, he turned tail and hurried out of the shop. "See you soon." Was all she could say before he saw him dashing off. Kyoko was pretty relieved as Itsuki had left and her cheeks finally got a normal temperature again. Whatever had made her blush, she didn't like it at all. The weather didn't seem to clear up and so she decided to leave this place quickly. Lena would await her anyway. So the teenager left the shop hurrying back home.

I don't know what's happening to me anymore... Kind of confusing... especially around these girls. I have to find a guy friend. Urahara... I hope you didn't die, otherwise, I'm doomed. Or maybe there's someone else I can talk to about these things.
Except, they're all flipping girls.
Look, girls aren't as impossible as I used to think they were but.. they're just so confusing to me... Lately, they're forcing me to think about that... word, you know, "like"? I don't want to think if I "like" someone. I did like the conversation I had with Kyoko... but then it kind of turned a different way and got confusing to me like it is with Yeste'. I think I don't understand any of this... which is frustrating.
I should do that meditating thing Kyoko talked to me about. Yeah.. maybe I'll get some answers. That's what I need right now.
