Excited Apathy

Obsessive Hoarder

Well, it seemed time to think wasn't about to come along so soon. It wasn't like Helaku could complain, though. Amara was one of the few mares that didn't awaken resentment of the female gender, and was even starting to heal over that wound. "Of course," he said quietly, eyeing the other stallion. Strange mood swings there...but harmless enough?

So, the other stallion did not back down from talking with Amara, despite his questioning feelings for her. Well, that was a good sign that he certainly did feel something for her. Perhaps Amara was right in choosing this stallion as her future mate... perhaps... With golden hooves, Verloren turned about swiftly and pranced over to his daughter who had just emerged from the woods. "Amara! Look who showed up!" Verloren spoke rather happily... a little too happily compared to earlier.

Dark red eyes blinked for a moment as Amara stared at her father with an inexpressive face. He head turned slowly as she began to look around, spotting a familiar stallion not far away. "Oh no. No you didn't." Amara glared at her father somewhat and nipped at his closest ear. "Please tell me that you had a 'normal' conversation with Helaku."

"Ack!" The green stallion yelped a little as his daughter nipped him. "Yes, I did as a matter of fact."

"Good. Now, go away."

"Why are kids always so bothersome!" the stallion complained a little but said nothing else after that. As he allowed his golden hooves to carry him off, he moved his head forward enough to whisper something in his daughter's ear that caused the mare to blush slightly. With a smile, the green stallion strode off into the darkness of the forest from where Amara emerged from.

Helaku felt a pang of sorrow as he witnessed the closeness Amara and Veloren seemed to have with each other, remembering when once he'd been that close to his own daughter. But what was done was done, and the grey stallion couldn't help but chuckle at how hapless the green stallion seemed as he retreated into the forest. He did quirk a brow at Amara's blush, however, as hard to see as it was through her dark coat. "Almost makes me wonder what he said..."

Amara shook her head as she tried to get her father's words out o her mind. "Since when was he so forward about stuff like that!?" The mare couldn't help but wonder about her father's train of thought... which was a scary thing to even think about. With a sigh, the mare walked towards Helaku with a slightly sheepish expression. "Sorry about my father... he's a bit of an odd stallion. I hope he wasn't too much trouble."

"No, of course not. It was...different, that was all." Helaku shook his head, offering Amara a slight smile. "Did you know I'd never spoken to a mare's father before? An interesting first experience, I admit." He tilted his head, regarding her with concerned eyes. "You look a little shaken up...did he say something wrong?"

Amara meekly laughed at Helaku's last statement... "Ahahahaha... nothing that you should be concerned about." The mare knew that she'd blush again if she didn't keep the thought to the side. "So..." Amara went about changing the subject, "This was your first time speaking with a mare's father? Well, I admit that my father isn't the best candidate when it comes to talks like this... but he's relatively harmless an doesn't get that defensive over me... I think..." Though she understood Verloren quite well, she always felt that the green stallion hid something behind that playful persona of his.

"Right..." Helaku peered at Amara for a moment, then decided to just drop the subject for now. If she wanted to tell him later, she would. "Yes, it was," he replied, nodding his head. "And I got that impression as well. He's being your father, that's all. That's what he should be doing, right?"

"I suppose so... Still, it gets rather irritating after a while. My father... well... he can get pretty childish. And that definitely gets annoying," Amara replied with a bit of a sigh. "Still, I'm rather glad that he wasn't THAT bad around you. For once it seems like he had a pretty normal conversation. Which is surprisingly rare for him." A small smile crossed over the mare's face. "So... how have you been anyway Helaku? I haven't seen or heard from you in a while."

"Well, we can only hope any foals of yours would be as forgiving if your mind started slipping, eh?" Helaku replied, laughing as he shook his heavy mane. "Aside from this nice little mark that guy left behind, I've been well. Think I'm almost as good as new, even." He looked across the open stretch of grassland with longing. "Not sure yet if I can run like I want to..."

Amara carefully walked up to the stallion and nipped at his mane. "I suggest that you don't do much running now. I'm sure you're still recovering and I don't want to see you straining yourself." The mare's ears flickered about at something Helaku mentioned earlier. Foals... she didn't really consider herself a motherly figure, especially after what she'd been through. Still... having foals didn't sound like such a bad thing. Eventually, she'd probably settle down enough to have some foals... Hopefully, they wouldn't be like her father.

"Yes mother," Helaku joked, making a returning snatch at Amara's own short locks. Moving to smooth over any possible ruffled feathers, he continued, "I know...but I can wish right? I know wishes don't always come true, but..." But that never stopped me before, his mind finished.

"Most certainly," Amara replied rather happily. She was glad that Helaku finally seemed to have gotten back some of that fire that he had before she'd met him. "I wouldn't give up on your dream so soon. Who knows, it just may come true." When was the last time when she actually let down her guard and let herself just have some fun? Amara couldn't recall but this was certainly fun.

Helaku quieted a little at that. Dreams...his dream had been to raise a family with his love, once...and he had both gained and lost that dream. What was his dream now? "I'm not sure I'd call it a dream, really...maybe more of a short-term goal, I would hope. But a dream?" He looked over at Amara, expression sober. "I'm still looking for that."

Dark red eyes looked into the stallion's dark golden eyes. A sense of sorrow not of her own washed over her. Gently, Amara walked over to Helaku and nudged him affectionately on the neck. "I'm sure... you can find some answer one day. I-" What else cold she say? Something dawned on the mare as she comforted the stallion. What were her feelings for him? She clearly felt something for him... but... was it love? Affection? What was it?

"I'm sure you're right..." Helaku didn't flinch when Amara, a mare, nudged him. She'd already proven loyal, seeking out help in his time of need. On impulse, he moved forward, draping his neck over hers. "What is it, Amara?"

If one such as this left me, it truly would be my fault...

Blinking at himself, he nearly banished the rogue thought...but caught himself. Was he really growing feelings for this mare? Or...did they already exist?
