... How long does it take to start to pick up an accent from somewhere else? or shake your old one entirely?

Well, I never really had much of a Yorkshire accent until I went to high school (September 1995), then by Christmas '95 I'd picked it up. I guess it's dependant on how surrounded by it you are. Some people pick accents etc. up really easily whereas some never do.

Not sure how long it takes to shake an accent off completely, but friends who have done that sometimes find themselves lapsing back into their natural accent in times of stress, so it neer really goes away.

6 months if you really try hard? I have Welsh cousins that moved to Australia, they sounded Australian-ish by 6 months later.

blaugh I don't know if it's any accents in particular I like, or just specific people's accents and voices. But... Paul McGann's Scouse accent is gorgeous... and on a less Whovian note, Antonio Banderas... oh, Lord, one of those voices where you can't hear a word he says, because you're listening to the voice!... add that to the fact his English isn't so good, and he's quite unintelligible. But I don't care!

They're both much too old for me, but not like that matters, really.

Well.. I like Scottish, British (in general), and ... Russian. XD

My family's Russian (but we live in Texas, go figure) so I like the accent, though I myself don't speak with any sort of an accent. I just talk at about 90 mph- confuses the heck out of my Biology teacher.

Scottish, well ain't it obvious considering that this is a DW guild.

British, just like the sound of the dialect much better than the flat Midwestern Stereotypical American Accent that is commonly heard in the US. (Yes, a midwestern accent is base of American accents- it was popularized in the early to mid 1900's with the advent of news radio. Random factoid for the day... o___O)
You talk fast too? Aswume! so do i! i also fell in love with Frank's accent, from Daleks in Manahatton and Evo of the daleks, i dont normaly like southern accents (no offense) but his ill make an exception for

LOL YAY! I'm not alone! XD Frank did have a pretty spiffy accent, come to think of it.

I can understand what you mean, down where I live some accents are plain frightening. D:
