Kal nodded happily as he stretched his wings, looking rather like a delighted duck for a minute as he watched Raphael swim in the deeper water. "It's really refreshing," he agreed easily enough. He couldn't share the other stallion's enthusiasm for swimming in such fast moving water, but it was still enjoyable even if he was only wading.
"I'd never be able to swim in this current," he remarked, without even a hint of bitterness. "A-aren't you afraid of being swept away?"
If he was bigger or stronger he might have dared to swim with Raphael, but he was content to just splash around a bit where his hooves could still find purchase on the rocky floor. Even without completely submerging himself the water's strong flow pushed him around, and turned his frolicking into something resembling muted wiggling.

Flattering as the admiration from Kal was, Raphael couldn't in good conscience accept it. After all, HIS feet were basically touching the river bottom as well, albeit on slight tiptoes. He was just taller than Kal, that was all, so he could go out deeper.
So it was with a grin that he corrected Kal, answering the other stallion's query with a shake of his head. "Well, I probably would worry if I was actually floating; in fact, if I was actually floating, I think I'd be a few miles away by now. I'm more of a pond swimmer myself, actually."
Though he wouldn't say no to a chance to swim in generally. "How's the water treating you, though?"

Kal blinked. "I-I must have misjudged the water's depth there." He admitted with a sheepish smile. Yet acknowledging his minor mistake didn't mean his admiration had been diminished. The little alicorn hadn't met many stallions who didn't intimidate him or make him feel small in some way, and Raphael's respect cheered him more than he realized.
"The current out there looks stronger though, I-I'd still be afraid. But here is okay." An almost wry smile lit upon the little stallion's features. "I won't be swept away here as long as I keep three hooves on the ground."
Kal took another step, but his hoof slipped on the rocky bottom as he set it down, and there was a split second of frantic splashing before he regained his footing. He let out a shaky laugh. "M-maybe I-I should keep all four hooves on the ground."
