norngpinky i m o g e n Tenshi no Hana-chan MooMooJuice If I get to the bookstore this friday, I want that volume. >>So wait... the anti-SasuSaku thought that Sakura just said she just really liked him? *probably wasn't in the fandom by the time this whole thing went on* Yeah - some Anti-SasuSaku-er (who was, I think, a NaruSaku-er as well) retranslated this part of the manga at the height of the SasuSaku/NaruSaku hostilities. They began spreading claims that the "I love you" Sakura screamed out was more of "I really really like you" - which, of course, makes the statement lose its deeper meaning.
Then the SasuSaku fans (me included) began satirizing the retranslation. Kairi, I think, made the Anti-NaruSaku banner exaggerating the retranslation.
But if an official translating company like Viz can translate it like this, they should accept it as it is. It would be stupid to go on with the retranslation argument.I think what angered me the most is that she had only one translator or so re-translate that portion of the chapter and then declare that Sakura said "like" instead of "love." Never mind the fact that several translators before had all translated that portion into "love." What was amusing is that she didn't pick up how stupid it sounded to argue that "Sakura said 'I really, really, really like you to death!' instead of "I love you with all my heart!" -_-;; There is no REAL difference. Some translators translate some words a bit differently. I think the fact that now even VIZ translated it into "love" should finally bring closure to this trouble she created. (All for the sake of writing her beloved 50,000 word essay. BAH) I'm still waiting to shoot down her "SasuSaku is unhealthy" theory. SasuSaku is unhealthy? talk2hand I'd like to read this theory or eassy to see what it's all about. At least to know why she thins that way...and then, yadda yadda yadda dramallama pirate
Anyway, I am going to be stupid and ask who "Viz" is...? So does that mean it's going to be how the English dub is going to turn out?
I love reading SasuSaku at night especially. That "...I can't stand it" so reminds me of Karin, however =OViz is the company that publishes the Naruto manga. I believe they also licensed the Naruto anime, if I'm not mistaken?

-Goes to track it down-

To me, that just goes to show how some NaruSaku-ers portray themselves to so many people.
However.

I think that Anti-SasuSaku fans' attempts at re-translating that statement just shows how desperate they are; that SasuSaku had enough development for Sakura to even state that she LOVED him. They were in denial.
I honestly don't see how "I love you!", "I like you so much I don't know what to do!", "I really really really really really like you!" makes that much of a difference.
Besides that statement, Sakura said other things. She offered to leave everything she had just to go with Sasuke, am I correct? That one statement doesn't change how she FELT, along with the other things she confessed.
Whether Sakura "loved" or "really really liked" Sasuke didn't change the fact that she was willing to sacrifice her life to be with him. THAT means something. "I love you!" or the like is just a sentence.
Anti-SasuSaku fans can't re-translate the way Sakura felt, lest they photoshop the entire thing to make it seem like Sakura didn't even care. And it's a bit too late for that now, eh? ;]

It's beyond too late for that. And besides, Kishimoto made a point in his databooks to support Sakura's emotions and feelings in this scene from both Sakura's end AND Sasuke's.
And also alluded to the fact that maybe it's not that Sasuke didn't want to let her in, he just COULDN'T, for her own sake.

A friend said once "Love isn't a strong word, but like is" Or soemthing close to that..We say we love certain foods and progams. Not normally saying that "I like it"So in a way "I like like like like you to death" is stronger than "I love you"^_^

That saying makes sense. We tend to overuse and underestimate the word 'love.'
Though, I think Sakura meant it. In fact, I know Sakura meant it. Sakura's the kind of person who doesn't go around spouting off things she doesn't mean. She's a very honest character, and that's endearing.

Though I agree with you that Sakura meant that she loved Sasuke, I wouldn't call her honest.
She lied to Naruto a couple of time. First, when she told Naruto that she hadn't noticed the cursed seal on Sasuke when he asked. And second, [spoiler in white] after Naruto wounded her after going 4-tail Kyuubi, she told him that someone else got her.
I think that between her and Sasuke, she's pretty honest, telling him her feelings even if what she things doesn't match Sasuke's opinion. But as for being honest in general, I don't think Sakura fits the description.

Although, she promised Sasuke that she would lie the first time, so I'm not sure if that applies. It could do either. But yes. She's honest to Sasuke.
