Updates have been made. I've given some basic oversight of the dark water and silent scream possible powers, strengths, weaknesses and food source.

First off, I'd like to tell you that I think all of your ideas are very, very cool. Especially the Leafy Sea Dragon - that thing is funky-looking, and would provide quite an interesting raevan!

So, first order of business: The Silent Scream. This is a very creative idea, but I'm a little lost as to how it functions. If it is supposed to be silent, wouldn't it be something that cannot, under any circumstances, be heard? I like the idea, really I do, but maybe you should think about it a different way. What if this was simply a scream that exists with no source of origin? A scream that can last forever, because the caster would not run out of oxygen to produce the proper volume. Just a thought.

Next up: Eternal Deep. Another idea I greatly commend you on! I don't have much to say about this one, other than it seems you took a great deal of time thinking this one up. Very creative! Not only that, but the raevan born from it could have some nifty abilities.

Moving on: Desert Rain. This was very clever, and I think you should definitely hang onto it. Perhaps have the sand have all the chemical properties of water, and it has the ability to sustain life. The chemical makeup could be hydrogen and oxygen, but it will most obviously be sand, as well. I think it would be an interesting twist on things, because it would almost be like an optical illusion - where you think it is sand because that's exactly what it looks like, but it would have the fluidity, taste, and components of water. Just a thought.

As for the souls, they're both be interesting to see come to life. Especially the Egyptian Fruit Bat - I mean, a potentially partially-blind raevan would certainly have a twist on things!

Anyway, I hope that helps you out - even if it's only a little! =D

*Tackles the Emii* Thanks for the ideas, I was a bit on the fence with silent scream so that does help out. Though I do have some ideas on it that I need to flesh out as well...

Eternal deep is becoming my new baby so I'll hold on to this definitely.

The desert rain is a back burner idea but it's I'm still on the fence with it too. I like your ideas on it so I'll bounce a few of my own off you and see what I come up with.

Thanks for the feedback! XDD

-squees in delight upon being tackled- You're very welcome! I'm glad I could give you some creative flowjo to help you out. =D

And I'm sure, with how nifty your ideas have been thus far, you'll be able to come up with something exceedingly creative and promising in no time. <3

At first, I wasn't sure what to make of your Silent Scream fel essence. It just didn't seem to click, like there was something wrong but I wasn't quite sure what. However, as I progressed through the rest of your thread( lovely layout, by the way!), I was starting to get it. It grew on me as a concept. I think what was wrong (on my end) in the first initial read was the lack of a good visual representation, like, I wasn't sure how that would work from an artistic standpoint? Thinking about it, plus the addition of the fruit bat soul, it dawned on me that, hey, it could have a horror appearance derived from the fear and/or panic derived from the scream. I guess I didn't initially think of the subconscious factor, how humans make connect symbols to objects and that the opposite could be true, too.

BUT I DIGRESS. I really like the Silent Scream/Fruit Bat combo. Though, I do have a few questions. I noticed that it said (s)he cannot make a sound, yet uses echolocation to navigate. How does that work? Does it mean that someone observing the Raevan can't hear the sounds that it makes, from echolocation to shifting of clothing, and that the Raevan can? Would this extend to speech as well, essentially rendering him/her mute?

As for the Eternal Deep/Leafy Sea Dragon combo, I'm sad to say that I don't have as much to say - I liked it from the bat. The idea of water from the depths of the ocean still having the same properties at the surface is just so cool. Plus, Sea Dragons are unique creatures that have lovely aesthetics.

So, yeah. Sorry there's not much in the way of criticism here. <3;;;

Oh no it's quite fine. I'm starting to see that Silent Scream needs more work, which I plan to flesh out a bit better. I've had some hard times explaining it then realizing a lot of contradictions so thank you for pointing them out.

The Eternal Deep, I wasn't sure about. Taking attributes it normally has and bringing it to the surface seemed easy enough, plus it has a possible feel of a fel essence. I mean what water do you know would crush you with just a drop alone? I'd hate to come in contact with it. The leafy is just always been such an interesting creature to me that it would be a shame to pass it up.

I'll keep working at this, I know it's not complete which is fine. And I'm always open to more ideas too. Thanks a bunch for the crit. XDD

I really like how your concept touches on aquatic themes without risking stepping on the toes of already existing raevans!

Another thing I really like is that you've chosen a soul that's not so common in the lab, as there is only one other fish soul (2 if you count Sevvie) at the moment if I have my Raevans right.

I think you really did a great job of coming up with your own unique concept, it's hard to come up with one without partially copying the already existing raevans or other people's ideas sometimes, kudos!

Quote:

Name: Briant
More a random observation tha a comment/critism, but did you know that there are no raevans with names beginning with B? So if you get your raevan you'll be the first.. XD
Gender: Male
Fel Essence: Eternal Deep
I really like this soul, it's a unique idea and sprouts a lot of ideas and interesting thoughts about what could happen with it. After all, you can hardly carry it around like the other fel essences due to the immense weight and freezing touch.. Plus I think the deep blue/black will make for an interesting look on the raevan.
Soul: Leafy Sea Dragon
I love sea dragons.. So it makes my heart happy to see a concept for a raevan involving one. <33 I agree with everything you said in your summary - we need some modest raevans we can't have all the bigheads like Rivener stealing the show all the time. P: Also I'd love to see how Kyou puts elements of the sea dragon into her artwork..
Personality: Aloof, laid-back, and carefree.
Alignment: Neutral Evil

Food Source: Fluid Pressure

Power:
  • Water control - This allows him to control is base element; weaving and moving it about as his strength and ability will allow.
  • Fluid pressure - When feeding he can drain pressure that may become a hazard if left unattended. He cannot control this ability but if asked to feed it can be useful; hopefully he's hungry during a time when this ability is needed.
  • Water mimicking - This will allow him to transfer the three major attributes of his essence into any body of water he comes in contact with. This makes him very weak and he cannot sustain it for too long.

I like your power concepts too, no real critisms.. Evidently he would gain them over time and they seem to be about the right strength power-wise..

Overall, thumbs up from platy d >u< b

Yay! Crit...
I worry about the freezing temperature part but he doesn't make things freeze just cold. And that's not the major focus of ability anyway.
They got enough cold/freezing based Raevan around so I wanted to move away from that part if possible.
I focused more on his water control abilities which I thought was refreshing. XD
Thanks for Crits it helps out a lot though.
