Aria picked her way through the brush, trying not to think about things too much. If she really analyzed the situation, she would have to admit to herself that this was not a normal dream, and she wasn't ready for that.
This wasn't out of the ordinary. All dreams felt real when you were in them; this one was no different. She could easily-

*~*

"Return to me... For my dear I'm so lonely....."
Aria opened her eyes blearily and automatically reached for her singing phone, flipping it open even before her brain had time to register the fact that it was still dark out.
"Hello?" she rasped, her voice thick with sleep.
"Omigod, Aria, the most horrible thing happened!"
"Whitney?" asked Aria, the full implications of the darkness outside her window catching up with her. "Why are you calling me this early? I can't deal with this right now. I barely got to bed at two, and I had the most psycho-a** dream-"
"Shut up! This is a huge freaking problem!" shrieked Whitney, loudly enough that Aria winced and held the phone away from her ear. "My Mom's new boyfriend's kid got it a car crash, so they're not touring the coast, so she's staying home, so we can't have the party-"
"What?" interrupted Aria, sitting bolt upright. This could not be happening. "Why didn't you know about this sooner?"
"The boyfriend only called a few minutes ago!" wailed Whitney, "I swear, she's still on the phone with him. Apparently his stupid kid fell asleep at the wheel-"
"Do, You, Think, I, CARE," demanded Aria, keeping her voice soft, but allowing it to carry the full weight of her disapproval. "Whitney, I don't think you understand the situation we have here. The entire junior class has been looking forward to this party for weeks. I would hate for people to be disappointed in you."
"But-"
"Figure out a way to have the party," she suggested sweetly, "I'm sure you'll work something out. Buh- byez!" She pressed end, shut her phone with a satisfying snap, and slumped back against her pillows. Glowering at the ceiling, she wondered whether she should get a new outfit for the party, and whether or not dreams were supposed to stay this clear after you woke up....

"What reality is she talking about?" Willow muttered. "This is the only one." She laughed.

"I wouldn't be so sure." Rowan muttered. "Where do you think they go when they vanish?"

Willow stopped chuckling and glared at him. "Shut up." She muttered.

Aria opened her eyes to brightness, and felt the muscles in her back tense. Something massive and soft came up to sheild her eyes. She blinked at them, then reached out a tenitive hand to stroke the sleek, white feathers... Feathers?
She lowered her wing and brought up a hand to massage one of her temples. The last thing she needed was for this freaky dream to become a reoccurring dream. Well, there was no more denying the situation. Dream or not, she was stuck here. There was probably something she subconsciously needed to deal with...
She opened her eyes and sighed at the sight of three familiar figures. Like too much Tolkien, she thought, dryly.
She walked up to the three elf-things purposefully. "Hello again. Apparently, I'm not getting out of this dream until I talk to you. So let's hear it. Should I stop reading Tolkien? Is that what this is about?"

"Who is Tolkeen?" Willow asked, giving the girl a strange look.

"Maybe he's a philosopher." Rowan mused.

*~*

Francis closed his book. "Frankie, time for dinner!" He heard his mother's voice call.

"That's fine." He called back, "I'm kinda tired. Goin' to bed."

"You sure, honey?"

"Yeah." Francis clicked off his light and was asleep almost immediately.

Aria rolled her eyes. "He invented you people as today's culture defines you, but whatever. I'm not up to arguing with Fairies, or Elves, or whatever you are." She hesitated, then sighed. "Well, if I'm going to talk to you, I might as well do it right. My name is Aria. Aria as in the style of song, not Oreo as in the cookie; forget that and die." she said, finding some amount of comfort in saying the familiar introductory line she used with everyone she met. Well, everyone who wasn't a Old.

"Today's culture?" Willow hissed. "Listen here, missie. We've been around longer than you 'culture.'" There was a mild rumble in the earth as she spoke. Rowan put a hand on her shoulder.

"What is Orayo?" He asked mistily. "Anyway, I am called Rowan, and this is my partner Willow."

Francis stumbled down the hill. He was back in the dream, but didn't know where everyone had gone.

Aria raised her eyebrows at Willow, smiling slightly, and to all appearances unimpressed. It wasn't real, after all. She couldn't get hurt. "So you're a faerie, then. As far as I know, Elves don't have power over the earth. An elemental faerie, right?" Suddenly Aria was delighted. She could have some fun in this dream, if she let herself stop thinking of it as one. It could help her relax and let go of her complicated, loud, and chatter-filled life. "This is amazing! It's like every crazy book I've ever read, but--" She suddenly smiled at Rowen, a smile of pure, uncomplicated excitement. "If I have wings, does that mean I can fly?"

Willow stared at the girl. How did she know? No outsider could identify one faye from another, it was almost impossible.

Yet she did it.

Rowan smiled plainly at her. She was taking this much better than the boy had. "I'd assume you can fly." He laughed slightly as he spoke. "That's was wings are for."

Francis looked ahead. The lake girl, she was awake, and fine. He quietly came up to join the small group. The boy who'd followed him every time he came into the dream waved at him, while the girl stared at the newcomer with wings.

((o.o a bit confuzzled now e___e'' ))

Jessica sat below a tree and listened to loud rock music. She never really enjoyed the silence and wasn't about to start now. The lake lapped gently on the shore. She glanced at the clock on her cell phone and sighed. She still had time to kill before she would go party with her friends. The loud rock music and the gentle spring breeze somehow made her realize how sleepy she was.
"Just for a little while.'
She told herself as her eyes closed and everything seemed to drift away.

*~*

There was nothing...All she saw was the back of her eyelids and nothing else appealed to her. No sense of touch...no taste....nothing except...a lavender breeze surrounded her and ruffled her bright blond hair. She at last opened her eyes. It was funny to her that she wasn't where she was before.
"Maybe I drifted off and someone found me..?"
She mumbled to herself and then realized the absurdity of that. The scent of lavender seemed to follow around her as she continued to walk around. Soon after, she found a small stream.
"Nope, not the one i was at before."
She thought as she looked into the water. Something in it scared her as she let out a shriek and huge gust of wind blew by. It wasn't 'something' it was her own reflection. She raised a shaking hand to her side and felt the feathers on her wings. As she stroked it nervously, she knew she felt it. Was it...a part of her? She dropped to her knees and sat there for what seemed like the longest time.
"It's just a dream, it's just a dream...It must be."
She mumbled to herself.

Aria turned to see who Rowan had waved at, still smiling her brilliant smile. "Hello! I'm Aria!" she told the newcomer happily. "Aria as in the style of song, not Oreo as in the cookie." Normally she wouldn't have just introduced herself like that; she made people work for her name, but something about the idea of being able to fly made her too overwhelmingly ecstatic to hold out on anyone.

Suddenly she stopped and really looked at the boy, her expression appraising. After a second, it shifted to one of interest. "You were here before, right? Just after I got pulled out of the lake?" He was the first person she'd seen in the dream who seemed to be human; oddly this made him look alien.

"Uh, hi." Francis said plainly. Next to him, Rowan laughed softly at Aria's introduction.

"Isn't she great?" He whispered to Willow, who grunted softly, now studying Francis.

"I'm Francis." He explained, "Yes, I was here when you came out of the lake, but I left." He shrugged, "Guess I'm back now."

As the Arch Sage lowered his arm, he saw in the distance a figure moving in his direction. He watched with patience, and curiosity. At length, he found himself gazing upon a female. A young curious warrior out for adventure it seemed.

"Oh the days of willful youth I so crave..." His gaze turned skyward. "Is this a taunt of the Celestials, or have you brought to me some quizzical gift?" With a sigh, he looked at the girl once more, studying her. Slowly, he began to walk. "Not every day you see a mage wandering the plains, is it?" he said kindly, trying to open conversation. "I happen to be Dominus Ollivander Omnicus Monollius. I quite prefer Monollius, but you may choose as you please. Who might you be?"

Jessica sat beside the stream and dipped her fingers into the water. Her reflection blurred before taking shape again. She slowly stood up and began to wander aimlessly. She didn't know what to do or what to think, but something just told her to keep going. A few minutes passed and soon in the distance, she began to notice some figures taking place.

((Erm...o.o how many people are with you? ;o))
PostPosted: Tue Oct 02, 2007 8:18 pm

What was that supposed to mean? Aria raised her eyebrows. "You guess you're back now? Where did you go, exactly?" She glanced at Rowan, "I guess that's why you weren't surprised when I popped back in, huh? People do it all the time."

(( Er... 5, I think. It's my character, the boy, the two faeries, and the dryad/elf lady.))

((Ah, i knew that ;O uh huh. Thanks xD ))

Jessica slowly, almost like a trance, walked over to them. Surprisingly, she didn't burst out screaming when she saw them.
"Um...excuse me...But can someone please explain to me where this is..?"
She asked as she blushed a bit and tried to hide her wings.
