.[.pink.spider.]. Quote: Sephiroth: He cannot cast away the darkness. Tifa: It doesn't need to be cast away. You should just cover it with light. To me, Tifa seems to be missing the point. Cloud can’t cast away the darkness, because it will always be a part of him. Neither can he can’t just ignore darkness and put a cover over it with light. Darkness will always be a part of every human being. It’s not about good vs. evil in the sense that the light should destroy darkness. It’s about finding your light WITHIN the darkness. It’s about co-existing darkness with light, because the stronger the darkness, stronger the light (and visa versa). Because of this, light cannot survive without darkness and visa versa. This a theme emphasized over and over again in the Kingdom Hearts series. But Tifa—as a being who represents the pureness of light—can’t understand this. Perhaps this is what Nomura meant when he said Tifa was “something different, who doesn't exist as a human being.” She is unable to comprehend the fact that the heart of a human being will always have light and darkness coexisting together. I wouldn't say she doesn't understand. Judging by that quote I think she understands more than anyone. Tifa tells Cloud that he doesn't need to cast away his darkness, that it ok to have it. She understands that it will always be there, but if he surrounds it with light, his darkness, Sephiroth, will be unable to harm him anymore. *shrugs* That's how I read it.

Quote: Tifa: I will give you my light/I will give my light to you. Sephiroth: The light doesn't suit you. Cloud: For me…I don’t know. Quote: On a closer look, Sephiroth’s statement does ring true. Cloud has gone too deep into the darkness to be able to embrace the light fully, and the scene in which Cloud is blinded by Tifa’s light is a symbol of that. Perhaps Cloud knows the truth behind Sephiroth’s words too, because he doesn’t outright reject them. Instead, he responds with doubt and uncertainty. While he knows he won’t turn to darkness, he is not sure the light is for him either. In this scene, you could say Sephiroth represents the darkness and Tifa represents the light. Nomura offers this interpretation as well: Well...for me, I thought Cloud's uncertainty meant that he wasn't sure if he deserved light. But your interpretation could be true too. Cloud has fallen quite a ways down into darkness. Back in KH, Cloud said he was searching for his light but: Quote: Nojima: "So Cloud's really running from something but goes around pretending, saying that he's chasing Sephiroth." Cloud said he was searching for Sephiroth, but in truth he was running away from something "warm" which is most likely his "light". In other words, by fighting his darkness (Sephiroth) he could turn around and finally meet his light (Tifa). Maybe that's how he felt. Cloud has always been down in the dumps, always feeling sorry for himself and he probably felt that he didn't deserve anything "warm". Quote: Sephiroth: He cannot cast away the darkness. Tifa: It doesn't need to be cast away. You should just cover it with light. Quote: To me, Tifa seems to be missing the point. Perhaps this is what Nomura meant when he said Tifa was “something different, who doesn't exist as a human being.” She is unable to comprehend the fact that the heart of a human being will always have light and darkness coexisting together. Well, KDD already said what I was going to say, haha. Quote: I wouldn't say she doesn't understand. I doubt Tifa is really saying "Ignore the darkness, just cover it up with light". Quote: Tifa: The darkness will be there Sephiroth, but in a place you can't reach. She knows that the darkness will be there. She believes in Cloud, believing that he will win, will be able to balance himself. Tifa isn't misunderstanding. She knows that you can't destroy the darkness. Quote: Tifa’s been with Cloud for a large part of her life at this point, but she still doesn’t understand some of the complexities of his heart, and this makes her uneasy... (Nojima) Quote: Yes, KHII is separate from AC, but like what Nomura had said about KH in relation to FFVII, it would answer some questions about the Compilation of FFVII series. Could the fact that Tifa’s light is too bright for Cloud to handle and therefore, represents the pureness of light [KHII] be a reference to the fact that Tifa can’t understand the “complexities of his heart” [AC]? Not literally, of course, but on a symbolic level. Of course, these aren't the only factors; there are more as to why Tifa doesn't understand his heart...but that's another story. Well, yeah, it is separate from AC, but in FFVII, the two are basically still getting to know each other. In Case of Tifa, it's "a new life" as Cloud would put it. The complexities of his heart are the things that he keeps from Tifa. What she doesn't know, she can't understand. And plus, it shows that she's just starting to understand in AC when Cloud felt guilty about keeping something from Tifa-like his motorcycle. We can't tell at this point in KH if Tifa understands or not.

I'm hoping they change Cloud and Tifa's outfits in KH3. I'm sooooooooo sick and tired of their stupid AC outfits already.

Thank you!!!! I feel the same way! Their AC outfits did NOT fit KH2 at all. It was such a huge change from Cloud's cool demonic-like costume to his AC....where it's more practical, more realistic. *Sighs* I suppose that was supposed to promote AC, but still, I'd rather they'd make a new costume. And I hope Nomura doesn't dress Tifa up to be a slut again. rolleyes It's possible...since the rating of KH3 is going to be T, not E.

Their relationship is quite different from FF VII, so it's not a fair comparison.
Even Nomura mentions something to the effect that Tifa is not her own person, bur rather Cloud's light.
But that doesn't immediately make him love Aeris, either.
In all honestly, I see Leon and Aeris.
