Well...with all the recent cultural changes....I guess some Cloti and Cleris claims that "this is so" because "Japanese culture is so" are invalid then.

Some Japanese still practice some of the old ways but because of all the modernization going on over there, a lot of it is starting to die out. For instance - Bon Dancing is almost completely gone over there.

Actually now that I think about it, most of the FF games were extremely European. confused

Considering that a lot of the jobs are very Europeon jobs (dragoon, knight, etc.), I would have to agree with you. 3nodding
Plus FF seems to be in love with blond protagonists. xd

Lol, I know huh? xd Blond...brunette.....was there anyone with black hair?! xd Nope. Depending on what love perspective FFVII went with...it could be practical and obvious, yet very emotional and deep like Cloud and Tifa or romantic, transcending time and space like Cloud and Aeris.

I think one time they had a character with grey hair. FFII I believe. His default name was Firion. It was light grey, almost white. Well, there's always hope for the future! blaugh

Ehh...there hasn't been any black-haired heroes...oh wait...Zack....I forgot....BUT he has blue eyes so he's Europeanish too. xd Funny how the Japanese favor the Caucasian races. Well, they usually ARE the object of beauty though personally. xd Ya know, "Blond hair and blue eyes".

Hmmm they are very attractive people I must say... I have heard about them but I've never seen pictures of them before. Anyway back on topic... yes, some central Asian people do look European but that doesn't change the fact that the FF7 characters names, clothing, and living areas are extremely European looking.

Oh? But aren't Central Asian/Middle Eastern people.....how they look in that region.....the reason why some of them look white and Asian because some groups originated from the Mediterranean which is a mixture of Turks, Greeks, Romans, etc...or so I've heard. Also, since the Middle East is a cross section between other Asian countries. But yeah, still, Europeans aren't the only ones who have light hair and eyes.
Still, Square does favor the Europeans, haha. Like Ashe in FFXII, they wanted her to be French-looking, but added Asian qualities to keep the fans from hurting them. xd

I wouldn't have minded if they had made Ashe completely french-looking. Am I in the minority?

Well, I wouldn't mind either really, but ya know...Final Fantasy is a Japanese-made game from a Japanese company....from Japan....with Japanese fans flocking at the corners. So yeah.....you'd want to represent your ethnicity and pride in your work too. Such is the Asian way. biggrin

I wouldn't mind it if they represented their ethnicity more strongly than they do now. I certainly wouldn't mind playing as a Japanese boy or girl. biggrin

Lol, I wouldn't either. xd But Final Fantasy has always been an international game. They want to include the cultures of the world, capturing allusions, attitudes, behaviors, architecture, and etc...I think it's really cool that they do that, it makes FF so unique too!
Well....in FFVII, you do play a Japanese guy. xd Cloud is basically a blond Asian, haha! Tifa is predominately Asian...Aeris has some Asian attributes in her too.
