Kibo: The proof is in the proof. I distrusted them with the ways of a Drow, and I ended up getting shot in the head. So why should I distrust them on other subjects? Lord knows I'm not going to trust a Drow with keeping their own biased records of humanity.

"I'll have you know that they are the Goldie's records, not my own people's."
Storm sneered the word goldie.

"My humor falls on dim minds, is all, Botch."
Storm stubbornly kept using a name, albiet a surname. Still better then calling him human, right? Misaki looked couriouse.
"Why must you take such offense at lessons? Did Twilight not try telling you first? Is that not cusotmerey for you?"
Storm nodded. She threw a hand dramatically against her forehead.
"I tried, I tried, but it died, it died on passage, it would seem. Figures."

Kibo noticed her stubbornness in using his name. He wouldn't receive the same courtesy back. Contrarily, he began accentuating each utterance of her race.
Kibo: Testing someone is one thing. This was not a test. This was complete and malicious destruction of character. "Tests" like that are why storytellers distrust your kind, Drow.

Storm laughed.
"Tellers distrust us becuase we pay them to, or else cut off body parts. I never gave you a test; I told you a lesson, repeatably. You wouldn't listen so I tried another teaching techniquie. It seems it has work. Is that such a crime, now?"

Kibo: What kind of self-respecting being willingly lets others know she is untrustworthy?

Misaki laughed.
"Just those kinds of self-respecting ones, Admieral Botch. Twilight does the favor for most and avoids the little step of lying to herself and telling herself that she is noble, and good, and true."
Storm winced, oh so very slightly, at Misaki's words. Misaki didn't notice it, and neither did Hantore.
"Only those that respect themselves can tell themselves that they are untrustworthy."

He noticed the motion out of the corner of his eye, and came to a realization. Storm was human. Not in the literal sense, but in the moral sense. No matter how much she protested to the contrary, she still did care somewhat what others thought of her. She stopped being a Drow, and just started being Storm.
Kibo: That's no life, then. Have you ever felt joy from making another person smile, Storm? Have you ever felt the warmth of another person, and returned it to them? Have you ever even done anything kind without an anterior motive?

Storm raised an eyebrow.
"Smiling? Yes, once or twice. Warmth, whenever I'm with those I care for. Alterior motive? Never. There is no point, not to."
Even Misaki and Hantore shot Storm a pititing look, but she had the grace to ignore them.

Kibo grins, looking happy for the first time in a while.
Kibo: That makes me happy, Storm. Rather loathing than apathy. Because if you think about it, love and loathing aren't that far off from each other.

Misaki almost laughed. It came out half choked anyway.
"Love and loathing, the same? Admerial, you haven't traveled much, have you?"
"I warned ye, didn't I, Misaki tha' he's a queer one."
"Last time I checked, Botch, you tend to not loath the ones that you love."
Storm was still mildly confused about where this was going."

Kibo: Think about it. When you love someone, how do you act? You think about the object of your affection all the time, whenever you go into a public event, you look around for them, and you have so many things to say to them. Now how do you feel when you loathe someone? You think about the object of your loathing all the time, whenever you go into a public event, you look around for them, and you have oh so many things to say to them. Sure, the feelings attached to them are somewhat different, but the similarities are uncanny, no?
