Romsca smiled. "The Mountain of Lost Travelers sounds like a great name." He focused on Jonas' words and thought of mermaids. "Hmmm......half fish? I've seen fish-colored Namrah, but not fish Namrah, though I have heard a rumor......" He shrugged. "Ah well, I guess it doesn't matter. Mermaids, huh? They sound interesting."

Healer nodded. "Yes, that's what it was." She realized she had been talking more to these strangers than she had to anyone else yet. Unusual. She hoped she wasn't one of those who babbled in stressful situations; it was embarrassing.

"I would imagine it would be burdensome. Emerald spoke of a character she created who was stuck at eight because she couldn't handle her mother leaving, and the personality she created to cope thought she was completely normal . . . Bit of a nasty shock when she found out the truth."

She paused for a moment, then continued a bit reluctantly. "She said it can get much worse, however," she said softly, remembering an example. "One personality could be completely normal while the other was a serial killer . . . And the normal one might never realize what was going on." She fell silent, thinking. The feeling of relaxation she had earlier was becoming a distant memory. I might have been better off with the kits . . .

Noah listened as the others talk of a fish like creature. He remembered when his care taker brought in a fish like namrah home. Well, it really wasn't his home since he prefered to stay up in the moutains, but htere were times he would come down to meet up with Ri for his check up or just for the pleasure of seeing her again. The anthro didn't no whether he should confirm the rurmor or not, though he saw no hamr in it.
"The rumors are true. There are such Namrah on this island, though only one has been seen so far."
He then turned his attention back to healer.
"True, but there are other cases. Say one personality is in control, and the other starts to take control of the body. What is the first could actually see and sense everything the other was doing and knew he or she could do nothing about it? All he or she could really do is watch on until he or she could be in control again....sometimes it is best to stay in the shadow of things than to come in to the light."

Treasure paused to think a little about the 'mermaids', "I've read about creatures that lure men to their deaths by singing, but they were half bird and I think they were called Sirens..." She turned to Romsca, "My freind Chaos is a fish-themed Namrah, we always go swimming together." Sadness started to creep into her eyes, her longing for the shores of the sea affecting her only a few hours after she had lost it. "I would never be able to live anywhere other than the seashore," she remarked, half to herself, looking up at the peak of 'the Mountain of Lost Travelers', "Shouldn't we be trying to find our way back?"

Jonas chuckled, "Ah, so many rumours..." He said, "Though this one, I've heard of...a girl was talking about it. She calls herself my 'owner', but, I think she is speaking nonsense." He shook his head, "And, I've met a fish coloured namir. He's full grown but still acts like a kit. It's absurd. Though I suppose a young mind set can be better than a mature one, because young ones have the best imagination." He shook his head again, this time was because he was talking to himself more than anyone else.
His ears perked as he heard Noah confirm the rumours about the fish namrah. "Interesting..." He murmered to himself, "I wonder where they live..." He shrugged.
He smiled over to Treasure and nodded, "Yus, same thing, I suppose. Just different cultures. We call them Sea-Hags where I'm from!" He laughed, "I like the story where a man is lured to a mermaid, thinking she is beautiful, but when he gets close he realizes she is very ugly. And it's too late to run because she chopped his legs off at the knees." He smiled a little morbidly, disturbed shivers running up his spine.

Romsca visibly perked at the mention of Jonas' 'owner'. "I think I have one of those. She feels it is her duty to look out for me and my siblings, though we're just fine on our own. I guess she's alright, but sometimes I wonder about her....."
His eyes widen at Jonas' story about the mermaid. "How....barbaric. But then again, it doesn't surprise me as much as it should. Someone has gotten young Nefir into reading, and he's recently been telling us the most horrid meanings to nursery rhymes......such violence that exists in tales."

Healer's eyes widened slightly as she thought about what Noah had said. "That sounds . . . ," she shook her head, not knowing how to put it into words. "I hate being helpless," she continued quietly. "And I'd fight it all the way." She smiled somewhat bitterly. "It probably wouldn't do much good, but I would have tried."

She remained silent while listening to the talk about mermaids, only half listening, but snorted at Romsca's mention of Nefir. "I wouldn't be surprised if I knew who did introduce him to reading," she said dryly, thinking of Tama and her insatiable appetite for reading and the sharing thereof. "Anyway, I think subtle violence is better than explicit violence; we are more likely not to notice the former," She trailed off, pausing for a moment, before continuing. "I have difficulty believing some of the themes present in strories claimed to be for children . . ."

Noah listened as healer spoke. "There is nothing wrong with being helpless. It just makes one want to be stronger and gives them reason to try. As for fighting back, at times fighting gets one no where, though it is better to try than t run away at times."

The fact about the meaning behind childrens stories and rhymes came to no suprise to the anthro. "It is no suprise. People have always been trying to cover up and sugar coat the violence they create. Quite sad really."

Treasure flinched back a little at all the talk of violence. She knew very well what it was and how horrible it could be, the sea was often called "A harsh mistress" both for herself and those who sailed on her, but she wasn't used to it as a topic of conversation. A nervous twitch took hold of her tail at the strange expression on Jonas' face, making her wish all the more that she were closer to the calming waters of the sea at the shoreline free of any violence but for the crash of the waves.

Jonas' tail swished contently as he listened to those around him, "Ah, but...maybe they were made to prepare children to the violence in the world?" His ears slumped a little sadly. "There is so much violence in our world and it happens naturally in nature. We thrive on violence." He sighed, staring to the ground. "Natural violence is beautiful at time, but unnatural violence is heartbreaking."
He looked over to Treasure, noticing the nervous expression on her face. He wished he knew where the sea was, for he hated to see people feel alienated.

Romsca shrugged. "Seems like every creature with a past has some measure of violence in it's history or culture. Ah well...." He smiled at Healer. "Oh probably a member of the small crowd he's taken to hanging around; they seem a dangerously brainy bunch." Romsca tilted his head and scratched an ear, his one open eye resting on Treasure. "You okay, there?"

Healer paused, thinking about Noah's words. "I . . . I never thought about it like that before," she whispered, staring at her paws. "Doing something is always better than doing nothing," she gave a watery smile, her eyes unfocused. After a moment she shook her head and attempted to place her personal shields back in place. Why was she pouring her heart out (figuratively, of course) to these virtual strangers?

"Children are not usually interested in pursuing the deeper meanings of stories, but not all the stories present violence on a sublevel." She shrugged at Jonas' explanation. "It's certainly possible. Violence is a part of the world we cannot escape from, no matter how hard we try. Preparing for it at a young age certainly seems logical."

Healer smiled wryly at Romsca's statement about the kits. "Aren't they, though."

Noah noticed the female anthro's twitching out of the corner of his eyes. He had no idea why she was reacting in such a way, nor did part of him really care, but he was still curious none the less. "Are you alright there?" he asked treasure with a monotone voice. He then turned back to healer. "I'm not sure I would use the word logic. It isn't really a word that should exist in this world anyway, since nothing is really 'logical' anymore, and everyone has their own definition for said word, so in a way nothing is truly 'Logical'.

Treasure's eyes snapped to the ground at all the people asking her if she was alright. "I'm fine..." she said, though her feet were carrying her backwards. She glanced up once to give the Namrah a half smile, then she bolted. Having no idea why she was all of a sudden running away, she followed the stream past the Namrah in the same direction she had been traveling earlier, finding it deep enough to swim in about thirty yards away. Her sandals slipped quickly off of her feet in the same motion she used to spring into the water, diving deep into the cool stream. Resting safely on the shore, her sandals sat gleaming in a small patch of sun, with Treasure swimming leisurely around in the calming waters. Though it was missing the salty tang of the sea, she still revelled in the stream's soothing flow.

Jonas looked to the sky as the namrah around him spoke. He studied the clouds and the way they formed, following a trail of them to the peak of the mountain they were on. His ears twitched a little as he recognized their poofy shape and they're dark, grey color. He looked at the rest of the group with his usual spacey gaze, "Well, maybe...it isn't preperation?" He said, his tone light and airy, "I also think that it could've been a way for children to deal with violence. Often when we are young we cannot process the horror of death." He sighed, looking down and shuddering a bit, "Take Ring Around the Posey for instance; possibly the children who lived in the time of the Black Plague made up the rhymn as a more jolly interpretation of the deaths that were going on around them." He shrugged, "I think there'll be a storm soon." He said, reffering to the clouds gathering above.
He smiled lightly as Treasure said she was okay, though, his smile turned into a confused expression as she bolted. His ears perked up a bit as he watched her run off, figuring where she was headed. She seemed to crave water. He couldn't blame her, really. Water was indeed great, though, he did know that one could get sick if they swam when a storm was comming in. He looked to the clouds for a moment before looking in the direction she ran off in, debating on whether he should go after her or not. But he figured not, because, one, she was already gone and he knew he wouldn't be able to catch up, and two, he knew he'd never catch her, for he was a slow runner, and, two, he figured she'd benifeit from a swim. He lowered his head, looking down, and started humming a tune, repeating the words in his head; 'Why are you looking grave? Are you thinking of something to say? Ohh-oh, you're thinking of you.'
