Josie's hand shot out almost instantaneously, pretty visage of ivory hue now overshadowed as her head bowed and her dark mane fell before them - hiding the expression of utmost hatred for what action had just been executed. One by one her delicate digits extended, almost seeming to beckon the cherrished child near as they turned skyward - but they soon fell limp towards the earth as it turned over and the very ground beneath them split open with uproarous cry. The other hand still clutched to Maverick's cloak, but it would only take one to summon forth the place where in countless years passed blood had been spilt upon their ancestor's land and death lie dormant...

Death which now Josie was channelling as best as her body was able before concentrating that raw ferocity tore at that beneath her and was launched towards Alice as many arrows would from an army unseen - now acting through her as she threw every fiber of the attack at both those who had intruded.

As Josie had let go though, Victor drifted on and away from the chaos. It did not seem to suit him, thus again into the beam of artificial light he wandered, closeby to his tethered but reserved from the goings on - watching to see what would unfold in result of his very existance unto this place.

Maverick was already starting to grow and shift, to change. He was getting larger - more and more bulky. Filling out in ways that were gruesome to watch, and even more disgusting to hear. The snap and crack of bones breaking and reforming, the twang of realigning muscles and tendons. It didn't take long, the transformation. Before their very eyes, Maverick became only perhaps an eighth of what his power was capable of. But this was a plenty intimidating form.
Immense black, leathery wings spread from a back that had become covered in coarse snake-skin like flesh. The head was snake-like a well, perhaps leaning a tidbit more toward lizard. The skin ran the length of Maverick's new body, and the eyes of said body had turned cold, black, and merciless. Before them now was a creature nearly twenty-feet in length, and forty in width. The height was around thirty feet or so. Needless to say, Josie's lab no longer had a roof.

Alice sniggered as she sat back up, wrenching earthen spikes out of her body as she regained her feet. "Extraordinary! I'm thoroughly impressed. This wasn't such a bad waste of time, after all."

"We aren't done yet," Avedis objected. He looked poised to shift to a form that would match Maverick's, still angry about the percieved insult against his daughter by murdering her.

She skipped over to Josie and hugged her quickly, as if the other girl hadn't just killed her. "Well, I'm bored, Daddy, so I'm going to go home. You should, too, because you don't want the myriad mad at you, do you?" The girl tossed her black hair and vanished with a tiny pop of red sparks.

Avedis's mouth settled into a flat line. "Do not anger me any more than you have here, humans," he said in a warning tone. "It was very foolish of you to reveal your position. Now, when my orders do not involve mere location, I shall immediately know where to come."

He turned and ripped a hole in the fabric of the universe, vanishing through it with an air of slighted nobility.
