Harmony sighed sharply, curled into the covers of her bed. It was getting cold, and she was soon finding out that the colder seasons didn't suit her at all. She was bundled into at least four different covers, and refused to leave. She knew how frigid the air was outside her warm, heated room, and under her warm, soft covers.

The door swung open, and she pulled the covers over her head. Even so, she could feel the cold breeze slip in under the covers, and whined.

"Donny, close the doooor.."

The door closed, but Donny's childish little voice wasn't the one she heard.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were still asleep!"

She peeked her head out, and blinked at the sight. She'd heard of the older ribbon wearing brother that her father had mentioned, but never met him. Even though he had been described, his sight was a shock. She stared at the half nude, chiseled boy, and paled, sticking her head under the covers again.

"I wasn't asleep, I'm just cold.. I don't like the cold!"

Asrafel giggled and fluttered to the bed, settling down beside her and leaned up to tuck her hidden form in. "Oh, I can understand that. You think you're cold? You can't even imagine how cold it is for me!"

The lump under the sheets giggled, and she peeked her eyes out, eliciting a bright smile from the boy. "There you are!"

The eyes were all he saw of her, as she looked at him curiously. "Why are you here?"

The boy pouted, looking as though he was stricken with grief. "What, I can't visit my newest sister? Besides, I've never gotten to meet you! Mom and dad are going out shopping, and everyone else is out, so I volunteered to stop in for a while so I could spend some time with you. Is that all right?"

She nodded, though still remained hiding under her sheets. "Well, good! I'm going to go downstairs and start dinner. You come down whenever you're ready, okay? And you can bring a blanket to keep you warm if you want!" He hopped off the bed, and fluttered to the door, just as Harmony peeked the rest of her head out from underneath the covers.

"By the way, my name's Asrafel!"

"I know that."

He turned, and gave her a bright smile. "Oh, you do? Wonderful! When you come down for dinner, I hope we learn more about each other. See you there, Harmony!"

As he hovered out of the doorway he hummed a cheerful tune, and Harmony cocked her head, listening to it. She didn't think she'd ever met anyone so cheerful in her life. She briefly considered the pros and cons of leaving her room for dinner, and decided that perhaps it was worth a little chill after all.

Harmony skipped stones against the water of the stream that ran across the woods behind their house. It was a small stream, far too small for swimming; that was left to the lake that it fed into down further. It didn't matter anyway, as the weather had become far too cold for swimming, and Harmony shuddered to think of how she would freeze if she attempted it. So she contented herself in her little game, a game which she was getting quite good at with as much practice as she had time for. November seemed the slowest month of her life; it had been so quiet, so lonely at times, that she wondered if her few friends had forgotten if she existed. Even her brother seemed mellower; she found him often laying face down on some soft surface or another, fast asleep. His wings provided ample coverage and blanket services when needed, for even the house was chillier than usual.

"You know what's coming next, Harmony? Your first snow."

She heard her father's words ringing in her head, and despite all the books that showed her what snow was, she didn't know quite what to expect. As far as she was concerned, covering the world in a white blanket seemed stifling, and not something to look forward to unless you planned on sleeping the winter away under it like Donny seemed to be.

She skimmed her last stone and moved to stand up, but when she looked down into the water of the stream, she saw color reflecting back at her. Bright pastel color, the likes of which she knew could have nothing to do with her. Big violet eyes blinked down at her through the reflection, and she looked up to see what caused it. A little pony, the color of cotton candy with grape flavored hair, tilted it's head up to look back at her.

The two stared at one another for quite some time, before the pony took a step forward and leaned it's head toward her, causing Harmony to instinctively flinch back. Of course, the pony was hardly something scary, so she immediately regretted her actions and held her hand out.

"U-uhm, hello. My name's Harmony. Oh.. you're shivering.."

It had taken her a few moments to realize the pony was indeed shivering from the cold, obviously not used to such weather as it looked as though it had just recently been born. It sniffed at her hand, and cantered a few steps forward to slide it's head under it.

"Poor thing, you're frozen. Come on, we'll get some blankets over you or something, and warm you up."

She led the pony back to the house, leading it all the way into the kitchen since it was small enough to fit. Once it sat down on the linoleum floor and looked up at her expectantly, she hurried to grab a blanket from the pantry, and put it over the small animal. She sat down in front of it, and patted it's muzzle.

"You're so cute! I didn't know ponies could be this cute.. you must be a special breed."

It was a good thing that the house was so quiet with nothing going on, as it left her lots of time alone to get to know the little pony in her kitchen without interruption.
