See, Pebble had the right to be surprised! Cricket was staring with her mouth open! That meant everyone should be doing the same thing because nothing ever seemed to surprise his sister. Even so, the fact that his sister was shocked meant that it was something she had never even seen or heard of. All the more reason for Pebble to stay close to her and try not to say anything stupid.
"Cricket, what's a mortal?"
Pebble whispered, deciding to let Cricket do all the talking in this one. He really couldn't think of anything intelligent (ha ha) to say, too stunned by the size of the lioness that had just landed. She even had wings too! This was just one crazy adventure!

"I think we are," his sister replied.
"You guys are really weird," Sen told them. Just in case they didn't know. At that point she had climbed onto Mwokoti's back. She said to the Goddess, "Okay, let's find Yue."
"Hey, wait!" Cricket called. If Mwokoti had heard them, she still didn't respond. The puppy had a feeling she'd be in awe for the rest of her life.
"I guess mortals can't fly and Gods can..."

"Mortals? I thought we were wild dogs though..." Pebble was too busy being confused over all the new words he'd heard today to notice what the winged lioness or Sen was doing anymore. First Sen starts telling them that they should have a father (even though they don't) and now lionesses were falling from the sky! Just wait until they told their brothers and sister! They would have the best story ever!
Grin back in place, Pebble turned his attention back to the winged lioness, only to find her leaving. Hey! He wanted to ask her how you became a god and got wings! Instead, he settled for wagging his tail, happy at least to have met her. "I guess so... she was so biiig though, Cricket! Are we going to be big like that one day?"

"No bigger than Mom, I would think." Speaking of Gzifa, Cricket had a TON of questions she was going to pile on her the second they found her. "Come on, let's go back to the den."
Hopefully, their mother would already be there.

No bigger than Mom? Aw, that was kind of sad. He had kind of been hoping that he would grow as big as that lioness and maybe sprout wings. Was Cricket was sure about this size thing? Well, his sister always knew best, so Pebble wouldn't question her. Besides, he could question Gzifa when she came home! No doubt, Cricket had millions of questions but Pebble had billions!
Giggling to himself, Pebble easily followed his sister's lead, quite happy that he'd come along. This day was so much better than running on the sky!
