Ace Paladin HistoryWak Ace Paladin HistoryWak Arvis_Jaggamar Ace Paladin @Wii4Mii/Avris -
The don't have to make a movie of a videogame to make a Samus/Metriod Prime Movie. Look at the Resident Evil Movies. They're based off Resident Evil, but it's not like they made a movie of a particular game. They just made their own movie about an episode in the RE world... adding some RE elements, character, etc. In which case the Metroid movie would be severely loathed by the Metroid fanbase because it wouldn't be "canon." Not necessarily. If it's not made from a specific game, or they create their own character....or even stray off the path in the slightest, the fanbase will be like "OMG111 DATZ NOT WHAT HAPPENZ1Q111"
Every series has a fanbase. Every fanbase is protective and has a "It's written in stone" kind of philosophy. I know.... What about the RE fanbase? What about the FF fanbase with the FF movies? What was the reception of those? RE fanbase, though the movies were alright in my opinion, didn't like it. The main character, Alice, was a made especially for the movie... and seemed stronger than/mary-sue-ish to the actual RE characters, when they appeared in the second RE movie.
As for the FF movies... the first one wasn't widely accepted. It didn't really have anything to do with the Final Fantasy universe... except for a thing or two. Everything else was Sci-Fi based.
As for Advent Children, they loved it. I don't know whether it was because it was based off of FFVII or the fact that they made a sequel of an actual game and didn't stray off the path in the slightest (i.e. my point in my first post).
And for the record, I wasn't attacking the Metriod fanbase. It happens with every video-game movie. If it's not EXACTLY how they want it to be or pictured it, fans get their panties in a bunch.I know...again... I don't think anyone said or insinuated in the least that you were attacking the fanbase.

I just wanted to clear the air so to speak. I was asking about them two because you know all the RE and FF movies didn't fall in line with exact storylines and I was asking their reception. I guess you can say it's like making a movie off of a comic series and seeing how the fanbase reacts to it. Some comic movies were good and well received by the respected fanbase. (Batman, Superman, Spiderman, etc...) and others weren't (Fantastic 4, Ghost Rider (I hate Nicholas Cage mad , etc...))

He's been in some pretty abysmal movies lately (Ghost Rider and The Wicker Man), but if placed in the right context (Lord of War, National Treasure, The Weather Man), I think he can be pretty entertaining.

Cage sucks as an actor. He looks the same, talks the same, etc... in every movie. It's like he is a mediocre actor that got lucky enough to be discovered. He's like.... the make form of Julia Roberts. gonk

There's so much testosterone in this thread xd sweatdrop
I think most of the actresses everyone named are too well known, or already represent an existing video game or comic book character. If any of those women were to become Samus, it would become a Johnny Depp situation, and it wouldn't be possible to become absorbed into the story.
I think that Samaire Armstrong would make a perfect Samus.

She was born in Japan and lived there for most of her young life. She trained in Jujitsu and kendo for years, so she kicks a**. (no stunt double required!) and she's arleady into video games, anime, and comic books. I think when an actor's passionate about where the story came from, they do a much better job.
She's enough of an unknown to own up to the part of Samus, but at the same time she's well-known and experienced enough to do an awesome job.

I'd have to see her act. It doesn't matter anyway. If there was a movie it would be directed bye Uwe Boll.

I agree with Raine.
I'd be dumb if they hired some popular hot actress just for hype.
