As they stood got inside, they began to slow down, stopping at the bottom of the stairs. "Well, not much lives here. There's a couple of animals, The Beasts they're called. There's Kukkas, Foabers, Howlies, and Eckey bugs. Just your basic household pets...except...mutated." He paused a moment to catch his breath. "That, though, whas a Daemon. A giant, hairless, red gorilla with horns. Just think monkey from hell, and you've got it. We hardly get them around here, very rare. They prefer to live farther into The Wasteland, away from The Hotel, but sometimes they get hungry enough. Speaking of which, are you hungry?" Without waiting for an answer he started walking towards the tavern. "Come on, you look starving. Oh, and by the way, I didn't catch your name."

Amaya stared at him wide eyed as he spoke. Basic pests! she though with horror. So they were trapped in the hotel. It was hard for her to take in everything he was telling her but what had she expected. He had been right in his first example. This place was like hell. As if right on cue her stomach rumbled and she blushed, "Ya just a little hungry." Following him she said, "I'm Amaya, Amaya Jones."

Alex kept looking through her clothing trying to find something about her but she couldn't, "Well how am I to know if I'm allergic to something or my blood type. What type of person left me with no memory and nothing to remind me." She got a sudden feeling of hunger, followed by sickness. She ran to the bathroom to throw up and then slowly walked to the restaurant to fill her poor tummy, "Um, I think I'll have hamburgers and fries today."

James chuckled as he found a table and sat down with her. "Amay, Amaya Jones? What, is that like 'James, James Bond'?" He laughed a little, then he remembered something. "Or was that the other way around? 'Bond, James Bond'? I don't know. It's been forever since I've seen a movie." He was quiet for a moment, calculating how long he'd been there. "Twenty-two years? Is that right? Yeah...yeah, I guess it is. Anyway. Hey! Have you gotten your charm yet? That's supposed to be the first thing you do, but, I saw that you ran outside right after you got here." A waitress sidled up to the table, hearing the last part of their conversation.
"OOH!" She said pulling out a pen and pad. "You'd better get that right quick, darlin'. Wouldn't want to go around The Wasteland without your charm!" She gave Amaya a look and clicked her pen. "Now, what'll it be? We can get you anything, anything at all."

Amaya laughed lightly, "I don't know. Old habit I guess." Listening to him talk Amaya was shocked he had been here so long. Was there no way home? "I saw the new James Bond just a few days ago. I wasn't at all impressed by it." then adding in a wounded tone, "That poor Ashton Martin." Giving him a confused look she couldn't help but ask, "What charm? What do they do?" Blushing a little she hoped many people wouldn't remember her over reaction. Even in this new world she wouldn't want to be known as the girl who freaked out and almost got eaten or something. Smiling politely at the waitress she said, "Umm I guess a cheeseburger, fries, and a Pepsi?" she asked more than ordered.

A man in the corner shot Amay a dirty look when she said 'Pepsi', then went back to drinking his Coke. James merely smiled at her, barely able to control his laughter. "Good choice," he muttered, trying not to smile. "I'll have chicken fried steak, please, Mary." She smiled and jotted the orders down, then turned and walked towards the kitchen. "Anyway, the charms. Everybody here has a charm. Mine's my dog tags. It's a welcoming gift and it helps ward off The Beasts." He leaned in closer to her. "It also gives you a super power." He grabbed a toothpick from a container in the middle of the table, stuck it in the corner of his mouth, and leaned back again.

Isaac nodded as he walked behind Attia. "Okay. Has anyone explored around the hotel? Or is everybody too scared to go out?" Isaac became a little more alert as the noise of the Daemon was faintly heard.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 26, 2007 5:20 pm

Attia started down the stairs. "Well, many people have explored, and many people have left. Of course there's other things in The Wateland. There's The Oasis, that's where most people go. It's a paradise far to the south of here. The only reason people might want to stay here instead of going there is because of The Dream Zone. It looks just like The Oasis, except that they torture whomever goes there for their pleasure." They reached the ground floor and Attia went through the doors into the tavern. Spotting James, she walked over to his table and sat down, motioning for Isaac to follow.

Isaac sat down beside Attia, he liked her for what little time they spent together as he came to the Hotel. He said nothing, being to shy in front of the others and in thinking about what Attia had just told him.

James smiled at Attia as she sat down beside him. The boy sat down on his other side, between him and Amaya. He looked a little nervous. "Hey," he said around the toothpick in his mouth. "Amaya, this is Attia. Attia this is Amaya. Amaya...this is...another newcomer. Third one tonight. Actually..." James stood and looked around the tavern, searching for Alex. Spotting her at the bar, he whistled. "Alex, hey. Come on over! We're having a little newcomer party over here!"

Isaac would have exploded on the man if they weren't in a more public place. Was he not worthy of notability? And a newcomer party? "I have the strangest feeling about this guy... Like he's a major condescendent or something... And he seems rather brutish, a knuckle-dragger."

(So soon yet I must leave already... I may be back on later though, sorry!)

Amaya turned to them and smiled. Saying a sheepish hello to Attia she looked to the other boy with a smile, "I'm sorry I didn't catch your name." James distracted her as he called out and she saw another girl was their. Third one tonight? she thought curiously How many people usually come? Speaking to no one in particular she asked, "Do people come here often then?"

Alex walked over and sat down at one of the chairs. The waitress knew where to bring the food and Alex just ate in silence hoping this was all a dream, unless this is where I live and these people are my family...

As Alex came and sat with them, James smiled. "Now," he said. "Down to newbie business." Attia shot him a glare as he used the term 'newbie' and he shrugged. He looked at each of the newcomers in the eye, then began to tell them about the ins and outs of The Wasteland. He told them of The Oasis and The Dream Zone. Then he told them about The Phonebooth. About the sleek, red shine covering the whole thing, about the perfectly washed telephone inside and the completely blank phonebook. The waitress came sometime when he was still talking, gave them their food and went back to the kitchen. As James ate, Attia spoke about The Beasts and their charms, how they'd repel the minor Beasts and at least annoy the larger ones. She explained how they gave each person a different power. When James and Attia thought they'd answered everything, James sat back in his chair and Attia looked expectantly at everyone at the table. "Any questions?" she asked.

((sorry i didn't actually put it into dialogue, but i've already explained all of this stuff on the first page, and this was just a brief explanation for your characters, so you wouldn't want to read the entire thing again would you?))
