-Life outside the Headquarters? How curious!-
It was fascinating for Bergerac. A town. people. More than the small girl had ever imagined possible! She was frigthened, yes, but curiosity had the girl gawking at everything she passed as she and her father, Varlen, waked down the street. This was a new experience for the toddler, having never left the safe confines of the Headquarters before. Yet here she was, on a trip with Daddy.
Why she was coming along, she wasn't quite sure. Varlen had gone out before like this in the past, yet had always left her in the charge of Anvion, her soon-to-be mother in charge of her. She liked Anvion, because she was a nice and funny girl, always ready to give out a gentle smile or laugh. But today she was with Daddy. Had he finally decided she was big enough to come along with him on his trips?
As she wondered these things, she trotted down the street, one arm holding Kii, her stuffed cat, while the other clung to the edge of Varlen's dark green cloak as they walked down the street. It was a narrow street, not crowded like some of the eothers they passed. Wonder why they stuck to the less populated streets. Did Daddy not like the people? They got funny looks from people who passed them anyways, but she saw some people were... scared of her daddy. Why? Was it because he was tall? He was really tall, to be honest. Lots taller than most people. She didn't think it was scary. He was a little grumpy, yes, but not scary and mean...
Yes, Varlen was out shopping for magic supplies today. Yes, he had Bergerac with him. Had he been able to, the tall drow would ahve left Berg back at the Headquarters with Anvion, but due to her getting yet ANOTHER little brat-thing, she was busy and he was stuck with Bergerac for the day. Sure, she was a good child and all, but she was still small and slowed him down somewhat. Not to mention she earned them both more stares than he usually recieved. After all, drow weren't exactly a common (or welcome) sight, and at seven feet Varlen stood almost two feet taller than most others of his race. But a 7-foot drow with an... unusual-looking young girl...? No. Definitely worth a second glance from most everyone. Bergerac seemed to be handling the situation quite well, being more absorbed in the buildings than the people, but still. It made Varlen worry a bit...

Ume was walking down the street when she stopped at a magic supply shop. She was curious of what everything was. She wanted to get into magical items and wanted help learning what everything was. She asked the salesclerk, "What does this do?" he did not reply due to the fact that he was helping another customer. She walked over the the other customer, "Hi there. I am Ume. I was just woundering if you are interested in these magic potions?" she said looking him in the eyes.

Damian puled his long coat around his body, and nervously navigated his way through the mass amounts of people. He hated being with so many people, it made him nervous, and like he had to notice everything, like that pair of adults who had just bough a bag of rhubarbs. Quickly scurrying along with his thin black hair flying out behind him, the young man finally managed to slip into a much less populated street. "Thank god. There were so many people, and they were touching me!" Even though the people only accidentally rubbed his shoulder with his shoulder, he shuddered.
Damian yanked a small piece of crisp parchment out of his pocket in his jacket. Scanning the writing scribbled on it, he looked around him, mouthing the words, 'Tea, cauldron, frogs legs, and bat teeth.' to himself. Where on earth would he find such obscure things like that? He shook his head. Damian rarley preformed magic, but this time, he wanted to see people's reactions to his ability, so he had to track down a few things.
Bending his head down, so he was looking pointedly at the ground, the man continued forward as if he could see what was in front of him. He couldn't. Taking a sharp right turn into a magic shop, Damian found himself having accidentally ran into a tall, dark man, with striking white hair. As he lifted his face, the boy choked on his words.
Not only was there one tall, stranger, which he assumed wasn't human because of both his skin and hair, as far as he knew not many people had that sortof combination. Perhaps he was a demon? Or maybe a drow, an elf? "Stop it!" he thought to himself, and managed to spit out the words, "I... I... I am s... so sorry, s... sir. I, I really d... didn't mean t... to..." He stopped stuttering, realised that there was also a young girl? No, she looked, old, but young at the same time! Damian's head began to spin. Then his eyes landed on the girl, Ume he noted from what she had just said. His mind raced, "Oh no, it's a girl! What do I do? Ahh! Okay, just ignore her, ignore the girl, and everything will be okay. Ignore, the girl." he thought to himself, and then broke his staring at the three people in front of him, taking a small step backwards.

Varlen tilted his head downward to stare at the woman who had approached him so unabashedly, mild curiosity crossing his face. How... odd. It was rare for a stranger to approach him so openly, so devoid of fear. He was really unsure of how to respond.
"I-" he began, but he was saved from coming up with a response when something in the form of a young man plowed into him, forcing the drow to nearly stumble and fall over, thanks to Bergerac being underfoot.
Fortunately, he caught his balance, and he instantly whipped around to face the figure who had crashed into him, appearing not quite angry, but still rather displeased nonetheless. As he listened, the man responded in the typical manner in which most people reacted to his presence- fear. This he could deal with. This was something he had tolerated with for nearly forty years now, and so reacted in his only manner of handling this situation- irritated disgust.
Glaring at the man, Varlen gave a slight toss of his head, sending several strands of his long silvery hair out of his eyes. "You should watch where you're going," he said curtly. "And stop acting like I'm going to eat you. I'm not. Quit making an a** of yourself."
Letting out a small squeak of surprise and fear as Varlen stumbled, Bergerac instinctively went for the place she felt most safe-behind Varlen's legs. Of course, this almost caused him to fall over, but Bergerac was unaware of this. Nor did she much care. To her, Varlen meant safety.
Once hidden beneath the hem of his cloak and behind him, however, Bergerac cautiously peered around Varlen's knee, blank blue eyes regarding both the strange man and the lady. The lady seemed nice, but the man seemed scared. And Daddy didn't seem to like him. Was he bad...?

She saw the wierd look he gave her and gave him a smile. She looked down at the little girl and said, "Hi there. How are you?" Ume could tell she was kind of shy so Ume gave her a smile and stood up and looked at the man that had bumped into the man that she was talking to. She looked at him and then scanned him. He looked dark to her so she thought to herself, Should I say hi? No. I can't just start being friendly towards this man. He looks like he could be dangerous. Though this other man here looks like he could be dangerous as well. She just looked at them both and smiled. Then she looked down at the girl and again at the two men. She gave them all a smile and sighed.

Damian swallowed back his fear of Varlen, and managed to take a few mental notes about his reaction. "Note," he thought to himself. "Demons do not like being ran into. Note also, will resort to some sort of witty or insulting comeback when irritated. Third note, beware, and be careful when in presence of demons." He thought as his brown eyes watched Bergerac's action of hiding in Varlen's legs. "Final note, protects small children? Or has paternal tendencies towards certian people."
Finishing his immediate observations on the 'demon', Damian took a breath and responded, slowly. But, he didn't stutter, thankfully. "Yes, sir. I will make sure, to, look ahead of me... In the future." He said, far more uncomfortable than scared. Another breath. "I didn't, think that you, would eat me. Sir. I just, don't like strangers... is all." Damian gave himself a mental pat on the back. He was being a little bit more open than usual, as he didn't want to be murdered on the spot.
The boy was quite relieved though, when Ume didn't attempt any communication with him. It made him feel better, more secure. But not much. Noting her kindness towards the child, he managed a very small, almost miniscule smile.

Varlen's frown deepened as he listened to the man apologize, the smaller man's speech doing nothing to diminish Varlen's immediate dislike of him. Was this man retarded? He certainly seemed it. That, or he was going to faint from something...
"Fine," he responded flatly, giving a short nod. "Just watch where you're going next time. If you really didn't like strangers so much, you should pay attention to your surroundings so as not to run into them."
That said, he returned his gaze back to the woman, who seemed to be... unsure of how to handle herself. She looked a little nervous, though if it was from this new man or from Varlen's consequential snapping at said man, he was unsure. Truth be told, he didn't much care, either.
"I apologize, madam," he said in a tone that was much more civil and polite than when he was speaking to Damian. "But what were you saying before I was interrupted?"
Responding to the woman's gentle smile with a shy one of her own, Bergerac gave a small nod of greeting. "H'llo, miss..."

She looked at him and back down at the girl and said, "Hello. What is your name?" she looked back up at the man. "I wanted to know if you were interested in magic spells and such?" So she looked back at the other man and said, "Hello. I would like to get to know others in this town so I might as well say hi and be friendly." she said with a smile on her face.

"Bergerac," the girl responded shyly, withdrawing further behind Varlen's leg until only one blue eye was visible. She was unsure of how to react, mainly because no adults had really taknen a lot of notice of her, aside from Varlen and Anvi, of course.
"I am," he responded with a slow nod. "Otherwise I wouldn't be a mage..."

She looked at Bergerac and crouched down. "I'm Ume I really like your little kitty you have there." she said with a smile. She got back up and said to Varlen, "You are a mage?" she said with a suprised look on her face. "That is the coolest thing. Do you know what the stuff in this bottle does?" she said holding up a bottle. Then she noticed the other man. She set the bottle down and looked at him. Giving him a smile she said, "It's nice to meet you too. What are you here looking for?" she asked him with a smile.

Taking a look aroung the store he was in, he saw a variaty of magical utensils. There were things ranging from wands to jars of strange ingredients to strange items that seemed to be from another world. He became quite dizzy, with all of these things in the room that he had seen and had yet to know what they were. So, he looked down, and saw Bergerac, that was her name, right? He had herd her respond with it a minute ago. She was a child, or so it seemed, he liked young children, they weren't usually as complicated as adults. Or at least the ones he had seen and met so far, were like that. So with quite a bit more confidence than with Ume and Varlen, he gave Ber a smile, though soon looked forward again.
After hearing Ume, it struck Damian that he had no idea whatsoever of how to go about obtaining the items from his list. So, after making a quick mental note that no, not all women are scary things that will bite your head off, he nervously replied. "Well, uh, I need a cauldron..." He stole another glance at his list even though he had just looked at it before. "Bat teeth, frogs legs, and tea." He smiled weakly, still a little bit unsure of everything that was happening.
